      Thank you very much! I'm definitely thinking about revisiting the Sholazar "Volcano" theory in a future episode since there is now a lot more I could talk about regarding aquifers, groundwater from some of my geology classes at uni. Glad to have a drainage engineer join my community! :)

    This, like you Ghostlands video, where you go deep into the storytelling of the zone's environment, is really good and not something I've seen before. Lots of wow lore yt channels go over the same things again and again. This feels new.

    What about the extra influx of water being salt rather than fresh? This would also greatly impact the fauna of the area; Especially if the major water drain source is evaporation. Eventually river's heart in the middle would become a brine pool as the water evaporated leaving the salt carried in from the ocean behind. Hemet really f'd this whole thing up.

    • @Jediwarlock
      @Jediwarlock  Год назад +3

      Very good point! That is something I did not take into consideration until after posting the vid. Since there is already another river flowing in from the sea (Bittertide) the lake should already be slowly increasing in salinity. With the change after the shipwreck that small small increase could easily be amplified many times over and cause even more problems. I really like your thoughts! :)

      Does Azeroth actually have saltwater oceans? Sure it may in the books, but the games kind of show the wildlife can exist in both kinds of water. So either life life is hardier, it shouldn't be in all these zones and it's just laziness, or the water is all fresh.

  • @SolaPersona
    @SolaPersona Год назад +9

    Another awesome video! Something I never gave a thought to at all while questing but now seems imminently important to the zones future. Woops, guess that's just how Azeroth's "heroes" operate.

    UnGoro Crater is 100% a volcanic caldera. That Sholazar Basin is one too isn't surprising. Presumably the only titan keeper meddling in the both of them is the plant and animal life probably being artificially inserted, none of which can escape the basins due to the surrounding biomes' inhospitability.
    Also, Sholazar Basin is supposed to be way bigger than in-game, so the relative effects of Nesingwary's crash are probably meant to be much much smaller than what it looks like, in-game, if the only opening to the sea is the size of a boat's hull.

    • @Jediwarlock
      @Jediwarlock  Год назад

      I love your thoughts on this! Thank you for the thoughtful comment! Un'Goro is definitely on my list of potential future geology videos! :)
      In terms of Sholazar, that's a very good point! I'm thinking of making a follow-up to this video that explores more of the general geology and maybe my hydrothermal theories for the zone.

    • @Jediwarlock

    Great video!
    Also wouldn't magma below the River Heart be responsible for "heating up" the zone via vapor, also increasing its humidity, being the reason for lush jungle?
    In theory that could very well destroy the ecosystem even if the zone doesn't drown completely

    • @Jediwarlock
      @Jediwarlock  Год назад

      VERY good point! I agree with you... I touched on the hydrothermals being a contributing factor to the evaporation but didn't really make it a major point. There's definitely something magma-y underneath River's Heart and it might make for an interesting geology theory! Curious to hear any of your other thoughts on this :)

    Animals of Sholazar Basin won't have a future(well except the thrashers that will be very happy of this new development), as there is this secondary issue of the neighboring zones all being cold climates as opposed to the warm and humid climate of Sholazar Basin. Sholazar Basin has animals like tigers, crocolisks, gorillas, serpents that very likely can't adapt to the climates of the neighboring zones, and will face extinction even if they do migrate.
    That being said, even the fresh water mixing with salty ocean water is going to wreck a lot of havoc on its own even if the basin doesn't flood.

    • @Jediwarlock
      @Jediwarlock  Год назад

      Thank you for the thoughtful comment! I agree with your ideas wholeheartedly... maybe with all the environmental issues in the zone, the "tropical" magic will fade from the basin and it the winter of Northrend will eventually encroach on it as well!

  • @quintrapnell3605
    @quintrapnell3605 Год назад +1

    It would be simple to dam the breach. The only issue is salt water contamination.

    • @Jediwarlock
      @Jediwarlock  Год назад

      Both very good points! The salination, at least early on, would present more of a threat to the plants and aquatic life than an increase in water level, but once the basin fills in completely it won't matter how salty it is because everything will be flooded! :o
