According to the story, Teldrassil didn't get ALL of the blessings from the dragon flights after the Hyjal tree was scorched and Staghelm set up the replacement tree. The furbolgs lived on the land previously then the tree grew underneath them. There are signs of huts down below the eastern furbolg camps at sea level. There were satyr and corrupted furbolgs present throughout the tree. There were 2-3 mutated / strange fruit/plants (quests) plus one of the large plant elementals had a tumor (gives a quest).
Teldrassil wasn't well and Staghelm losing his son from the War of the Shifting Sands still weighed on him. I don't know when Staghelm "changed sides" but he definitely had help getting there.
Great info! I appreciate you pointing out those details :)
The quest every neglects to talk about in regards of Teldrassil's corruption is the Thresher quests in Darkshore. You can find numerous dead Threshers corpses along the beaches in Darkshore to the point where it stops being coincidence.
Apparently the threshers are purposefully beaching themselves in an attempt to swim away from Teldrassil
YES! Thanks for pointing that out. That is something I somehow missed when putting this together but I've always thought that was another weird detail worthy of attention :D
This is fantastic! I love the idea of undercover bad guys actually DOING something with their time rather than just existing for a betrayal reveal. Great video!
Thank you so much! I think it definitely helps satisfy Fandral's character a bit more than just seeing him flip in Cataclysm like "well, I'm a bad guy now!" XD
The reason he betrays the night elf is that he lost his sanity when the old gods army ripped his kid in two right Infront of his eyes during the battle of the shifting sands (I think it was that battle) and the old gods promised to bring his son back to him if he served them (iirc)
I think the biggest support of your idea about The Cleft and that being the place where we confront Fandral is supported by the fact that blizzard originally intended to have an “Emerald Dream” raid/zone during vanilla wow. Perhaps they were laying the foundation for our journey into the emerald dream to save malfurion and fight Fandral with this un goro soil quest chain and never got around to finishing it in-game during vanilla!
Great vid!
You make a good point! :)
I love lore theories like this.
Really high quality video awesome to watch!
Thank you very much! :D
Seeing how Teldrassil's corruption is a prevailing theme in the zone, I think Fandral purposely corrupting the tree is pretty solid.
It's particularly tragic that Fandral was corrupted by the same entity that was responsible for the death of his son.
Very true!! Thank you for the comment :)
Another link to the ungoro soil being corrupted is during the Emerald Nightmare raid, the boss Il'gynnoth (I butchered that name lol) is located in Un Goro crater. Most likely the boss has been slowly corrupting Un Goro Crater and the soil used is the result starting to happen.
Excellent point! I did not know that but that helps the theory even more! :D
Makes a lot of sense. Old Blizz devs were quite creative
Agreed! Plenty of hidden details and secrets to uncover! ;)
I only discovered The Cleft fairly recently... i think about 2 years now i suppose...
However, i figured there was probbaly some quest from Teldrassil that i never found for it.
Very interesting to find that its *yet another* area where there was seemingly meant to be something there, but never was.
These spots always make me think "what if a dev coded in an event here that only shows up at a certain time or certain day?"
drives me crazy honestly!
It's always fun to think about, isn't it? ;)

Yeah... fun...😅

Great theorising! I had always wondered why we got that grain. Fortunately, our friends read the books, and let us know what was going on, outside the game, yet was lore. I would love to see more videos similar to this, even if they have re-conned or removed the lore or quest's. Esp with this story beat leading now into Cata and then on into BfA and apparently this new Dragonflight. I'm glad to see that the lore still is continuing and growing. Thanks!
Thank you for the thoughtful comment! I will definitely focus on the old world for any future lore theories, so some of them will probably be updated or retconned with the new lore but I'll probably end up ignoring that XD
Ooh I love this theory! I do love some Night Elf story-related theories, since they were one of my favorites to play in the game. I wish the intriguing story could have been more fleshed out in-game, especially with all these pieces of the puzzle you pointed out already existing within the world. Do you think maybe Maraudon could have potentially been related too? I know the storyline there is a bit different, but it's also interesting that the most lush part of the dungeon is also tied to the Keeper and the Princess...
Great question!! I actually have a video ("The Geologic Marvels of Desolace") that I think touches on that question... in a roundabout way I think YES it is related, since Princess Theradras (servant of the Old Gods I believe) sucked up all the life in Desolace and basically concentrated it down in Maraudon which is why it's all lush and full of life. While I can't say it operated the exact same way as an Old God influencing soil, etc., there are definitely some big similarities! ;)
I love these Vanilla WoW quest lore. They remind of old rpgs such as Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Icewind Dale etc. This is why I love Vanilla
Very true! :)
I remember doing this quest way back in the day. It was so strange, and I actually loved that the questline ended so abruptly and mistiriously. I wish they just kept it that way, secrets lose all their charm and mistery when they are revealed. At the end the reveal was kind of a let down. It is way more fun to speculate about the misteries than actually knowing the truth. Same with the missing diplomat questline, or the Ashbringer. WoW was so much interesting back then.
I agree! Thank you for sharing :)
totally disagree. mysteries being concluded is fine as long as the conclusion is logical and satisfactory -- which often isn't the case in media
Morrowgraine, the Soilbringer.
I love it XD
Huge quality increase in this video well done!
Thank you! I am learning new things about my video editor so I'm glad it's paying off with each new video! :D
Excellent video! I was very intrigued in vanilla when I first got this quest. The night elf druid (and Malfurion fanboy) in me didn't trust Staghelm from the start so after turning in a couple of times to see what's going on, I stopped handing them in and kept them in the bank. I already got tricked by that satyr in the starting zone, I was not going to fall for it again.
Haha, you learned your lesson the first time! Very nice XD
Same here. My guildmates made fun of me being a Malfurion fangirl in vanilla. 'Not my arch druid!' was my druid main's catchphrase whenever Staghelm came up, lol. There was much smugness and 'I TOLD YOU!' comments during Cata.
I've seen a lot of obscure theory lore vids, and this was actually NEW. Well done, keep it up.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it... more adventures soon to come! :D
The Evergreen Herb Pouch had a 15 minute cooldown during Vanilla and TBC. They likely removed the chance of the Evergreen Herb Casing containing crafting herbs with the change to the pouch.
That makes sense to me! :)
"And now helps to lead the elves to this day" - yeah, about that. Unfortunately Malfurion (had enough of Tyrande's crap and) decided to stay in Shadowlands on the pretext of allowing Ysera to be revived.
Bruh why does SL have to mess everything up XD
Wow, I did this quest a few weeks ago, and wondered what this story was all about.
One of the best questlines! :D
Holy moly makes a load of sense... the "soil" research in thunder bluff was the one poop shoveled that was shown at one point never made and elf so I can say to their side
14 minute video on dirt in a videogame. I love it, thank you. :)
Haha, yes! XD
video I really enjoy your videos and my only critique if any would be the sound quality is a little off I think investing in a better microphone would probably help a lot. Also, maybe some sound deadening pads to place around the room where you’re doing the recording at to help cut down on a little bit of the background noise.
Thank you very much for that feedback! I am definitely planning on upgrading my audio setup in the future :)
@@Jediwarlock yeah, no problem. Happy to help someone that seems to be putting out decent material. I really do enjoy some of the exploration videos the lore bits, etc. There are plenty of big name, streamers, who I will not mention, and they are no different than news sources sensationalizing stories to earn more clicks.
nowadays, I play the game for different reasons, the main one, though being exploration, taking the paths less traveled. I don’t need to watch some guys with streamer status. Tell me how about all the sweet loot they got by running content that I will never see until several years from now.
Hi Jedi!
I think your theory is pretty reasonable. I love Fandral's character. I wish his story arc had been better fleshed out throughout the game's history.
Thank you JJ! I agree, having him flip in Cataclysm seemed kind of out of the blue if you hadn't paid *really* close attention to the quests and you had read the book I mentioned.
Hi
I love your videos even though I don’t play wow any longer. They let me relive all the find memories I have from playing 😊
That makes me glad to hear! I know I have at least a few watchers who don't play WoW but still enjoy the world and the lore... I'm glad you could join us! :)
For me who think TBC ( 2007) is the best xpac to WoW and most fond memories. I really like these lore stories. 😀
Thank you very much! In that case, I'm sure you'll enjoy my next Azeroth's Deep Dive flying around Outland! ;)
@@Jediwarlock That Iam sure of :)
Emerald dream was corrupted by Xavius. Un'Goro is not connected to the emerald dream. No dream lore and no emerald dream portals in Un'goro. Barrens Wailing Caverns, is connected to Emerald dream, due to a satyr opening a portal to it through Narthalax, or whatever the nightelfs name is at the last boss, the guy sleepin lol. Un'Goro and Sholazar Basin are actually connected to the Titans. Titans used both as naturally separated biodomes, to study life unfettered. Thats why Un'Goro has those titan stations on the mountains edge, same with Sholazar, and yes Sholazar has more obvious signs of Titans. And instead of Aqir invading the basin, its Undead, and the saronite leaking off a melting glacier.
You make some good points! I appreciate the thoughtful comment.
But Emerald Dream was created by Titans. Or at least taken over by them, when they conquered Azeroth. So there might be some connections, though they haven't been revealed yet by Blizzard. And knowing their love for retcons, I wouldn't be surprise if we got something later on.
@@Kevkoss No, Un'Goro and Sholazar dont have connections to the dream. The Dream is life in Azeroth Untouched by the titans. So the titans, wanting to see what they can do, created Un'Goro and Sholazar to study life if left to its own devices. They were experiment's on a grand scale, nothing to do with the Emerald dream. They seem so similar because the Titan Freya, along with others not named, created the Emerald Dream as blueprint for creation of Azeroth's flora and fauna. Then SHE created Un'goro and Sholazar as literal test sights for designing life by letting it just grow without influence. It has nothing to do with the Emerald Dream, literally nothing, beyond the fact the person who created the Dream is involved with the 2 zones and the Dream. Also with current expansion, I'm thinking its more likely we will be exploring Netherwing Dragons more and Pandaren Wind Serpents more in a later patch. I don't play WoWs much anymore, but I stay updated on lore.
@@pokeylope6108 I think you misunderstood me. I didn't say they have connection. I only said that with Blizzard retcon machine I wouldn't be surprised if there was one revealed in the future on the basis they're closely related to titans.
Sucks that I was helping him. I remember gathering these.
We were all fooled unfortunately :')
It amazes me to this day how deep the lore for Vanilla was. How many small stories are told spanning multiple zones, even if it made for a slower leveling experience. It's funny to think how the old "visit town, grab 10 quests, genocide the neighborhood and then turn in all 10 quests" way of designing quest hubs had so many small stories woven into it while the new focus on Campaign missions and chapters can only get 1 major story through for each patch.
Love your videos, keep em coming.
Thank you!! More on the way :)
And still people will say that Blizzard does not foreshadow 2-3 xpacs ahead :D
Jailer was obviously planned from WC1!
You make a good point! XD
Id have loved if the emerald dream was in vanilla. The scope, sky box, and surreal landscapes give me a very uncanny feeling. Youre not supposed to be there, and yet you boldly go and use this dreamscape to your advantage and parse the subconscious truths from fictions.
The sleeper must awaken!
I agree! It was originally in the game files listed as a Raid but it was SOOOO big it could have been a new continent. ;)
I think this is a great content. deep diving a quest on wow for RPG feel.
because it's hard for casual player to follow any story in wow. i never read, just skip lol.
keep up the great work Jedi,
Thank you very much! :)
i really love it when questlines span multiple areas and have interesting stories, reminds me of runescape's grandmaster quests. i feel the like the nature of the expansion cycle makes blizzard hesitant to use old areas for this type of thing more in modern WoW (though the heritage quests have been a good start)
I agree! It really helps the WORLD of Warcraft thrive instead of keeping everything contained within one zone. :)
Fun part is We find out what stag hound was up to... to degree... Whether he created his subfaction to fight the corruption or created it because of the corruption we don't know.
I like that idea! :D
Love the video👍 maybe add some music for background ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thank you very much! I do have some very quiet background music, but I've considered turning it up at certain parts where I'm not speaking :D
Very interesting lore for an item that many classic players probably don't even think about.
Agreed! :)
It still doesn't make sense to me that staghelm would switch sides and go to the people who ripped his son in two right in front of his eyes
Good point! The motivations are a little tricky for sure...
i had never ever noticed these things until you pointed them out in this video and i was like huh that makes alot of sense why this stuff exists very good video
Thank you very much! :D
Is this why Sylvanas Windrunner burned down teldrassil. She knew ...
Haha, she was the good one all along! :o
This is my favorite jediwarlock video.
Good pacing. Good shots. Plesant experience. Also informative.
Thank you very much! I have thought very much about what my next longer video essay will be... if you haven't seen it yet, I also have a longer video on Zul'Drak! :D
Perfect time to watch this, I'm questing in Un' Goro right now!
Ooh, very cool! :D
I need more like this. Bro you have potential to fill a niche that I have been looking for on RUclips for years now. Classic wow lore deep dives
That means a lot to me, thank you! :) More adventures coming soon!
I'm a simple man. I see a JediWarlock video, I click on it.
Haha, thanks! :D
Nice lore dive.
/cong bro you have a new sub (Y)
Thanks! :)
You solved the mystery! The game is over!
*Credits roll*
Haha, oh no! XD
I enjoyed watching this with my morning coffee.
Delving into such mysteries shows you how much effort the developers put in there.
I'm happy to hear that! Yes, there are tons of details that lead to a deeper appreciation for the game and I love finding those! :)
the visionary could have been under old god corruption too
YES! Very observant... I was wanting to incorporate that into the video but it slipped through the cracks. I definitely think Fandral had others on the inside who were either misguided by his idea or were also outright corrupted!
Dude I love your videos, everything like this
Thank you so much! I'm glad to hear it :)
That makes a lot of sense when you put it that way!
I'm glad you think so! :D
Dayum, I've always loved wow lore but somehow I've missed the whole Fandral story even though I remembered finding him sus when leveling my first ever character (NE) and then just going "ha, knew it" during cata years later on a different main. That was great thanks! ^^
Haha, thank you for the comment! :)
Don't forget that Il'gynoth is in The Emerald Nightmare version of Un'goro crater, in the Legion raid. Perhaps that's just more clues to suggest C'thun corruption already mentioned, but still seems more directly relevant.
I think the theme of The Old Gods corrupting the earth was one they had in mind from the start,
Very good point! :D I like that
I see Jediwarlock uploads, I click.
Haha, thanks! XD
Wonderful video. Since i dont play alliance i didnt know how deep the questline weny.
I'm convinced now that fandral also used the morrowgrain to keep empowering the cursed branch that was put into teldrassil. The same branch that was from the tree prison that Xavius was held in.
I like that idea! :D
Great video! Thanks for the content!
You are most welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
I always wondered about morrowgrain. Thanks for making videos about such old lore still!
You are very welcome! :)
Great video, they are always so enjoying! No longer playing, though it's always good to revisit the lore with so much attention to tiny details via these videos! Thanks!
You are very welcome! Thank you :)
Huh...now that you put it that did sylvanas know?
You never know haha
I like your theory, but given what happened to Fandral in the War of the Shifting sands where he lost his son I find it a little weird that he ended up working for the Old Gods, I know the Nelves hate the Legion but if Fandral really was upset about his son's death they make more sense as his masters than the Old Gods do.
That ship however has long since sailed & there is probably some book somewhere that explains this that I haven't read.
That's a good point!
Man, really love your videos!
Thank you very much! :D
Love these videos! Keep it up
Thank you! :D Will do.
You sound like hamsterwheel
Thank you, haha!
wow i never saw the connection about the corrupted cave in Teldrassil with Un'Goro before! once you mention it it feels so obvious that the plants and music are the same.
love to see all these small connections you point out in your videos!
Thanks so much! I love finding those details ;)
Great video, was very interested in this and just so happen to do both quests in everlook a few weeks ago
Thank you! Perfect timing! :)
I really like this approach!
Thank you! :D
I don't even play WoW anymore but I love your videos. Keep it up!
Thank you very much! Will do. :)
Didn't xavius also have something to do with it as well or am I thinking of a different tree
He was a major antagonist in the tree in Legion. In Cataclysm he was retconned as one of main corruptors of Teldrassil, but before then it is implied that the Old Gods were corrupting the roots of Teldrassil and creating the Emerald Nightmare stronger. :)
more like legolassian
Haha, I like it! XD
I enjoyed a lot this theory :-) it highlights some parts of wow that are quiet well hidden
Thank you! Hidden and secret parts of WoW are my specialty ;)
@@Jediwarlock you might never ran out of stories then haha !
very interesting video, thank you!
You are very welcome! Thanks for watching :)

Will do! Thanks :)
sick man :)
Thanks! :)
MOAR!
Coming soon! ;)
@@Jediwarlock Good. You're like the Discovery Channel(back when it was good) of WoW
cata ruins another good plot mystery.
Very good point! I know a lot of people enjoy having these mysteries unsolved :)
@@Jediwarlock it wasn't so much an unresolved mystery. Cata just full stopped many plot threads in rather underwhelming ways. Marrowgrain just being a poison and not delving into its side properties and then oofing Fandral is just one of many. They did the same thing to Eranikus and basic everything in Azshara
first
Nice!
second
Nice XD
This was fkin awesome. Make more of these
Thank you so much! More longer vids in the future for sure! :)
As a horde player i never knew anything was up with this stuff other than good xp
Haha, it is good XP! :)
Love your vids as always. I take it you're going to start making more videos on quest lines in the future? Love the idea. Very niche, but honestly a great idea.
I think the only time I ever read quests was wayyy back in vanilla before I knew about addons haha. So it's great to actually see/hear what was actually going on lore wise in the quests that I missed. I think you're on to something :D
EDIT: Seriously I need more of these vids in my life! I think this is my favorite video of yours yet
Thank you for the thoughtful reply! :D I am interested in taking a closer look at more questlines, yes, so I'm glad you enjoyed this one! I'm also hoping to have more engaging videos as I learn more about my new editing program :)
