  • Hallin Fell Wild Camp & Hike - Lake District - Up at the crack of dawn…well my ass was 😂
    Last minute decision to head to the Lakes for a sunset and wild camp on Hallin Fell in the Lake District. It’s always been an awesome location and this time wanted to take Kay to share the experience and we had an awesome time.
    Took the Terra Nova Northern Lite 2 on this camp and first time pitching it with my trekking poles for extra stability and it was awesome. Really pleased I got this. Have used it once previously with Kay up Darwen Tower, not Pendle Hill as I said in the video.
    I’ve split this video into 2 as the next day we did a hike and wild dip and it was a long video so didn’t justify cutting it short as happy with how it turned out. So part 2 will be out on Friday.
    As always, hope you enjoy the video and would love any comments and as ever I will reply to all.

      Sorry for the delay but thanks for that Danny. Did you manage to get on the camp with your daughter, if so how did it go? It’s an awesome location and a perfect spot especially for kids as pretty easy and short to get to the top

      Thank you. It’s the Zoleo. It’s an alternative to the Garmin InReach Mini and cheaper too. They both provide I’d say on par SOS service however out of the two this is far better for me. Tested it a lot this week and it’s been brilliant. Great for keeping in touch with loved ones and can send up to 908 characters per message compared with 160 of InReach. Check it out yourself. Don’t forget they both need monthly plans but can choose based on your usage and what you need. Lots on RUclips.
      I’ll give a code where you can get a little discount but just do your research but really great.

      @@krisgleave great stuff. Thanks for that info.
      I am doing coast to coast in July and have been thinking about something like this in case I can't get much of a signal and the wife starts to have kittens 😂👍🏻

    • @krisgleave
      @krisgleave  Год назад

      Yeah I get that. Depends on your network but it’s not great on Vodafone. For me I chose the Zoleo for 2 reasons. First main one was being able to message loved ones. Let benefit too is you get a dedicated number so they can contact you first too…unlike InReach.
      Second reason was being able to send your location as hoc or even breadcrumb on a regular schedule.
      Last one…SOS. For me I’d never want to press it for myself. I know it’s mad but I’m proud and would want to get myself out of any situation. But….I want it for other people. If you need to help someone else it could be life or death.

    • @krisgleave
      @krisgleave  Год назад +1

      Also…best of luck with the coast to coast. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done. Amazing experience but it’s tough too. Got a playlist on here not sure if you’ve seen it but should give you a realistic look at it. Don’t think…just do. It’s ace. When you looking at doing it?

      Aah brill, can’t go wrong with that tent at all it’s great. Lots of clever little features too with the tent and really well made. Solid in all 4 seasons too. Check out “Bushman & Blue” on here for that tent, he’s had it in brutal conditions
