Right now I'm having mental issues had them for years been watching you for about a week And I have ordered some gear And I'm going to start doing little walks and camps Because I'm 54 Thought I had nothing and nowhere but I was wrong ❤❤❤ I was wrong I have everything and everywhere Spent the last of my money not living on my sister's couch anymore thank you
I just had my birthday. I'm old enough to be your grandmother and have mobility issues. So sharing this beautiful trip was a great present for me. Thanks Abbie!
Never stop fighting the fear. Particularly when you feel overwhelmed, vulnerable and disassociated from the world around you. I find it difficult to differentiate between the exhilaration and euphoria of being immersed in nature and the anxiety and panic brought on by doubt in my ability to extricate myself from potential disaster. Thanks for another brilliant video and a belated happy birthday.
Happy Birthday! I think I saw you in the area a couple of days after you filmed this! A mate and I were walking the C2C and as we passed my mate said “I’m sure we’ve just passed Abbie Barnes!” I said “You’re seeing things! She doesn’t come up here much, She hangs about down South!” Looks like I was wrong! Stay safe and strong. 😉😀
Hi Abbey, Happy Birthday. I was at the tarn a few days before you, it’s a small world! I was hiking the first half of the Coast to Coast and also camped down in Patterdale. Before I left to go on the hike I was suffering terribly with anxiety and my mental health. I decided not to camp at the tarn due to my fears so precooked the campsite. After reaching the tarn the follow day I had the same thought, one day I’m going to wild camp here. It good to know that we are not alone in our thoughts and many others share the same struggles, feelings and thoughts. It’s good to break that silence and Shari ring you experiences is refreshing and something to celebrate. I should say that the five days I completed has had such a positive impact upon me and I came back with a very different mindset to when I went. Thank you so much for sharing,
Happy birthday Abbie. Oh to be 25 again. What a fantastic sunset. You really are an inspiration to people. You are also very brave to be so open about your mental health. Wish I was young enough to go wild camping and to get my son there as well. He has just done his bronze DoE. Now for the geek bit of me. The aircraft you saw was Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey a very apt name for you being in the great outdoors. I'm a keen model builder which I do to keep me sane, a get away from the stress of modern life. I did take Adam up Catbells (easy walk, but very busy) 6 or 7 years ago and he (and me) loved it. Love watching your videos. Best wishes, Mark
You above all "own your life" you have demonstrated that in your vlog with perfect clarity and detail. Your message to others to understand, take on board and overcome what seems to be an increasingly understood and frequent malady is both brave and caring. Without louding off about my earlier experiences of stress etc I absolutely agree about the healing powers of the outdoors for human kind in general. May your journey be blessed with all comfort. I think you are on to a winner with attitude life is so fleeting. Nice post and take care.
This was my first solo wild camping spot! Fab spot, and it was comforting as quite a few other wild campers around when I went. Lovely to have a chat to a few of them when I went and I had a fantastic sunset.
I just wanted to thank you for sharing this experience. I've been thinking about lately about taking my son, who has has special educational needs, ADHD & autism amongst other things, on a wild camping trip. He loves the outdoors and camping (albeit usually on a more traditional campsite) and I wasn't sure how he'd feel about wildcamping. However, after watching your video, I sat with my son and we watched it together and he can't wait to go to Angle Tarn! I'd watched quite a few videos, and they were more about what kit you should have etc etc but your video was more about the experience, and that's what me and my son will be going for. So thank you. We'll definitely be there at some point over the summer, and I suspect it won't just be a one time thing.
I 100% agree, getting into nature is so empowering, I feel so alive, exhilarated & at peace out there. I live the working week by planning & looking forward to the next time we’re out on the fells, It’s the only thing I think about.
Oh Abbie i think we are all complicated messes. Some just hide it. You share your ups and downs and help us know we are not alone with our struggles. I really really hope you realise how much your videos mean. And how much they help. Apart from being super beautiful and informative the emotional part to me is even more Important. A year later I hope you had a wonderful 25th birthday. Sending virtual hugs I think you are very amazing.
When nature rewards you with a stunning sunset and a beautiful morning and day like that, you know you've made the right decision. Birthdays are like when you gathered enough experience points and you level up. Ding!
Everything in this video is so beautiful and uplifting. Happy birthday, Abbie. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful place, both in the mountains and in your heart. There will be many more for you, I am sure. You should make this a birthday tradition!
When I watch your videos Abbie, I find myself smiling all the way through, you give off such a positive energy and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I did my first solo wild camp in the lake district on the 7th June, spent 3 days in the mountains started in Ennerdale lake, visited Scarfell pike and accidently ended up in Buttermere then back into Ennerdale :D. Loved it and planning future trips, even when I was drenched through and exhausted on the last day :)
Just watched this over New Year. Reflected on walking Coast to Coast in 2014. Some 49 years after my first climb up to Angle Tarn. Love your videos.. Keep doing it.
This is amazing :) I was literally in Glenridding on 17th after coming down from High Street the night before, in the Lakes for the first time in 2 years! I wish I could have bumped into you to wish you Happy Birthday and tell you how much I appreciate your videos!
Happy Birthday Abbie . Coincidentally we stayed on a small campsite local to us 2 weekends back , where they had Alpacas which we fed . I've not wild camped up at Angle Tarn myself - With a new tent just ordered , I'll make it the next place I pitch up for an overnighter in the hills . Another great adventure in the Lake District Abbie , the clouds lifted in more ways than one . Thanks for the wonderful video . Take care .
I’m going wild camping next week in the Lakes but as it will be my first time I’m doing it with an arranged women only group! I can’t wait until you start arranging group hikes again as I will definitely partake. Happy belated birthday!
good for you girl!! I'm watching this on 01,07,21 and i turn 55 in the morning, i wouldn't of even felt happy parking in that lay by! subscribed and liked,,, chase your dreams and enjoy every moment
What a lovely video abbie.. And the quality was exceptional.. You must take inspiration from all this.. after all it's all your own work..effort and creation your very gifted.. So thanks for taking us up there with ya.. Ps you looked so emotional tucking into that first chip.."Stay wild abbie" 👏🙏💐🍻
Well done you. I'm lucky to call Cumbria my home, and though I'm a good deal older still feel those anxieties you speak of. Cumbria is my birth home though I have worked professionally in the outdoors my greatest joy is solo backpacking in my own beautiful homelands. Nothing brings that inner happiness of watching the sun go down on a hard won day or waking to a new day where the choices are ours alone. Keep on keeping on, and just breath it all in.
Happy belated birthday. Your words on your birthday eve brought a tear to my eye I will not deny. I applaud your courage and hope you find eternal peace one day.
So so so happy for your!! What an accomplishment !! Been following your solo camping attempts and I am exactly like you! And it feels soooo unbelievably great if one is able to push through ones fears! My success this year was going on the St James Way solo, camping (but on campsites) with the aim of being able to wildcamp soon! I live in the middle of the French Alps and it would be so easy here but my unreasonable fears are holding me back. Seeing this gives me so much energy and courage and hope that Ill be able to overcome my fears at some point, too!
Happy birthday we nearly met . Was at same place as you . Beautiful place Lakes district. We have to learn to share it . Staycations meaning it's a lot busier
Glad to see that you're still producing your good stuff Abbie! I lost my dog last week and have dropped from three walks a day to vegetating. Looking to your films for motivation.
Abbie this place is ridiculously picturesque! A real gem of a place. Loved that sunset too. Your coast to coast was an amazing achievement for you. I've never seen anybody cover so many miles before ever not even the other walkers I watch on RUclips, channels like John Rogers,Tom Outdoors and Day Tripper. Mind you though John Rogers did do 32 miles once and Tom Outdoors has completed the South or North Downs path can't remember which one it is. If you get the chance to watch any other walkers on RUclips I can't highly recommend those channels I've mentioned. I also watch Ladmob too but he does more live streams than anything else. Sorry for the essay 😆😆😆. Great video! And Happy Birthday!
🥳A belated Happy Birthday to you Abbie! A quarter of a century milestone, in your power spot and feeling right. Turned 60yrs on the 27th and enjoyed a very nice park walk too (not as glorious and wild, yet out of doors!). 💌
Hi I get the Birthday thing mine was 16th june I was cycling the liverpool to leeds canal overnight. Well done on your channel we enjoying your hiking very much. Cheers Will
Loved this video! What a beautiful place to wake up to on your birthday! Well done for braving the wild camping and I hope your Penny memories brought you more joy than sadness. Thanks Abbie x
The songthrushes blackbirds skylarks the tits wagtails Robins and the bees the sheep cows...it's amazing an this morning I'm watching this crying cos I see so many similarities with the emotional side of things
Ah, lovely video. Familiar territory for me. Years ago I devised my own ‘Tour of the Lakes’ and where you turned down to Patterdale we continued up - John Bells Banner? (I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m misremembering) - and over to Hartsop Dodd before dropping (I use the word advisedly) into Patterdale. I’ve also mastered that yoga move you did at the beginning - I think you’ll find it’s is known as the ‘Whoaaa-arrgggh’!
Inspirational as always Abbie. Mother nature gave you a spectacular sunset as a present. The outdoors is, as you say the best tonic for any issue. Be kind to yourself and a belated happy birthday.
Happy birthday, Abbie! I am just watching this now and am truly enjoying it. You look so happy. Your work is really taking an effect coz now I'm itching for a hike.
Another excellent video Abbie. Great videography and meaningful commentary. Amazing lighting as sun illuminated the mountains in profile..wow. Well done again 👍
Hi , I celebrated my birthday 27 June finishing the South Downs way, what a time to celebrate my birthday out in the wild, one I’ll never forget. Lovely video again and happy birthday 🎂 to you
your videos are a inspiration to me to get out in the wild outdoors. i'm ready to go, all packed and heading of to walk the gritstone trail. hoping to wild camp or find a campsite as this is my first overnight and solo. anticipation and nervousness feeling right now so up early on the 30.06.21 and last minute checks to do.
Great video Abbie. I fully understand that feeling of freedom whilst out on the trail and I've walked nowhere near as far as you! (I'm changing that !) I am truly at peace with myself when outdoors. Happy birthday too!! 🎂🌸
As always Abbie - feels as if I am there too. It feels like I am walking thorugh life alongside you with these Films and it is a very gracious & inspiring thing. Thank You Abbie. Stay Safe.
Just watch your vid Abbie. I've quite old now 😁 but you are a inspiration to everyone. Thank you. Im letting work take over me with working all time and weekends . . Luckily enough to be offered a more steady job this week and look forward to what I love . Thank you.
Happy belated birthday 😄 Great video! Thanks for uploading. I camped at red tarn 4 week ago. (beautiful sunrise) I was thinking of going again this week but I may go up to angle tarn now 😀
Abbie fantastic video well done !! myself and my mate are waling the Hadrians wall on the 16th july 2 weeks time looking forwqrd to it great video catch you later lee
I know I am a bit late, but happy birthday. And just remember, the next time you are feeling low, you have already achieved more than most people have in a much longer time on this earth.
I love you Abby ...and Paul Messner..I would like to see more Tent-live from you with your lovely Hilleberg. Happy birthday have a nice 25th Year. Gratings from Germany
What an amazing way to spend your birthday. I'm trying to get to that point myself. I have had a lot of loss in our family. 4 in the past 2 years. I feel so broken sometimes. I think I'm still a ways off from doing any camping. focusing instead on getting out more regularly into nature. It really does help.
Me and a friend stayed overnight at angle tarn on our coast-to-coast hike... watching the sunset over patterdale and the valley was amazing. However, the next morning was like waking up in a aerodynamics tunnel... Great video!
At that red squirrel sign, we actually saw a red squirrel a few years ago. So excited! Glad you had such a fabulous trip and wonderful weather too! Happy birthday 💚
not very wild, but for months i've been sitting in front of the tv doing nothing. This morning I walked out to the fields behind my small town(norfolk) because I was feeling grumpy and had to walk it out of me. You got me thinking about tents and camping gas and stuff like that. I used to walk in the lakes and I miss it. I hope i can do something, but in anycase, thankyou for your channel, it chears me up at times. Kind regards, Dave x
Bless you Girlie, I'm completely with you... there's a reason they call it god's country, I've been visiting since the age of 13 on Duke of Edinburgh 42 years on still obsessed....
You are 27 now so happy belated 25th and happy 27th for last June. Really enjoying your blogs. I’ve just bought my first tent at 53 yrs and looking forward to some wild camping. Probably start in Dartmoor since I’m a Southerner. I’ve been inspired. Looking forward to some outdoor therapy. Bless your heart Abbie ❤
Abbie , thank you so much for sharing this. Your emotions, your thoughts, your filming - the views.... Absolutely fantastic 👏👏❤ And a belated happy birthday 🥂
Happy belated birthday Abbie! Thanks for the video, it brought back very happy memories as my brother and I walked down that same valley a number of years ago on a scorching hot day. Beautiful area.
Happy birthday fellow June girl!! Great way to celebrate your day! Celebrated mine on the 13th with my kiddos in my class. It was fun but your views are way better.
Thank you so much Abbie for sharing this inspiring self growth experience! There is just something about being in the wild that brings me such a mental high. It’s my escape from reality. Although I have had the courage to wild camp just yet. Your content brings me and my partner an escape when we are caught up in the day to day hustle. Thank you.
Really enjoyed watching this Vlog Abbie, I have just bought all the equipment for wild camping and I hope to do my first solo wild camp soon. Happy belated Birthday to you.
Freaky I was just watching your Cumbria way video last night, thinking I wish you would do another one in the Lake District and here it is. I’ll look forward to watching it.
Happy belated birthday, Abbie! In 2018, I scaled Helvellyn via Striding Edge on me birthday and it was a most rewarding ramble. Your gorgeous trek reminded me of that day. Ta!

Happy belated bday Susan!
Well I remember your C2C walk and the regret you had not camping there. I am so glad you got there. Well done. A personal achievement for you
Never stop fighting the fear. Particularly when you feel overwhelmed, vulnerable and disassociated from the world around you. I adore your videos, and I admire your honesty... Thank you! I couldn't find an emoji of a birthday cake - Sorry!
Happy belated birthday Abbie
All the way from Kuala Lumpur
I watch all your videos
I hope to be able to walk with you

Happy Birthday 🎉 25 was a hard one for me also. Thinking a quarter of a century, now I'm almost 60. Many happy years ahead to you!
snap!
Happy Birthday Abbie. I had similar anxiety's about getting out and camping. You are an inspiration. x
You above all "own your life" you have demonstrated that in your vlog with perfect clarity and detail. Yup I'm in the hiking honeymoon phase, I love everything about hiking and climbing. Apart from the ferns. I hate the ferns.
Oh Abbie i think we are all complicated messes. Some just hide it. You share your ups and downs and help us know we are not alone with our struggles. This video really spoke to my heart. Like you, I need nature to fill me up when I’m drained. Thanks for all you do and for sharing your thoughts.
Thank you very much for the video. Again it is pure therapy. At least for me. And this filter is a great tip.
Everything in this video is so beautiful and uplifting. Happy birthday, Abbie. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful place, both in the mountains and in your heart. There will be many more for you, I am sure. You should make this a birthday tradition!

A late happy birthday to you. You did a smashing job all alone, nerves of steel, well done. X
Happy Happy Birthday Abbie, may you have many more B-day to come, and Mountain to Climb! :P Cheers!
Me and a friend stayed overnight at angle tarn on our coast-to-coast hike... watching the sunset over patterdale and the valley was amazing. However, the next morning was like waking up in a aerodynamics tunnel... Great video!
Watched this on my 45th birthday and so much of what you said resonated with me. Thank you, and happy belated birthday! :)
At that red squirrel sign, we actually saw a red squirrel a few years ago. So excited!
Glad you had such a fabulous trip and wonderful weather too!
Happy birthday 💚
I hope you had an amazing birthday. Angle Tarn is certainly a perfect place to wake up.
Looked amazing well done, I'm plucking up the nerve to do my first wild camp!
Happy birthday my dear! I love all of your outdoor adventures! God bless you beautiful woman💖
not very wild, but for months i've been sitting in front of the tv doing nothing.
This is my favourite video yet. Love your passion and beautifully filmed. Well done and what a wonderful way to spend your birthday. 😊
Enjoy! And thanks for the bday wishes!
Abbie , thank you so much for sharing this.
Your emotions, your thoughts, your filming - the views....
Absolutely fantastic 👏👏❤
And a belated happy birthday 🥂
It's cool you got into nature so young. I was 26 when i got into getting out and about sorted me right out.
Happy belated birthday Abbie! Thanks for the video, it brought back very happy memories as my brother and I walked down that same valley a number of years ago on a scorching hot day. Beautiful area.
Thank you for this great video! You gave me some ideas for my hiking trip to the Lake District district this coming June 2022. ❤️
Happy birthday fellow June girl!! Great way to celebrate your day! Celebrated mine on the 13th with my kiddos in my class. It was fun but your views are way better.
Thank you for taking us along on your journey celebrating your birthday! Such stunning scenery - my soul needed that. Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday, I've struggled with my mental health recently but your videos have really helped. Keep doing what you do it's an inspiration to watch.
Ta!
