Some of the questions I was asked in my (in-person)interview: 1.) If I had an older computer and I wanted to keep that computer but it was booting up slowly, what would you do? 2.) What is DNS? 3.) What is ping used for? 4.) Where would you use ipconfig and what information does it show you? 5.) What is bandwidth? 6.) What is a static ip address? 7.)How would you deal with a angry customer? 8.)What do you think would be the most challenging part of this job? 9.) Where do you see yourself in the next few years? 10.) Tell us about a time when you made a mistake on the job and how did you go about correcting that mistake? 11.) Tell us about a time when you were given negative feedback and how did you deal with it? 12.) What is one misconception that people have about you? 13.) Have you ever worked with somebody who was difficult to get along with and did you deal with that situation? Oh and I was also asked to do a typing test at the beginning of the interview. If there's one piece of advice I would give to anyone before their interview it's this: Be sure to ask LOTS of questions of your own after they ask you their questions. The more interested you seem in the job the better. And don't worry about not knowing every answer to every technical question. They want to know that you're easy to get along with, you love learning, you're tactful and know how to deal with uncomfortable situations and most importantly that you're HUMBLE. Work on your interpersonal skills first and foremost! Nobody wants to work with a highly knowledgeable person that's arrogant and highly disagreeable.
This video helped me get my first IT Help Desk position. I’ve been with the company since October and now working on becoming a Network Admin. I’ll be taking my network+ in a few weeks. Thanks!
PSA for new folks: Novice A+/N+ have a catch-22 hurdle : entry level positions requiring 2-4 years experience. The A+ is just 1/3 of the puzzle. Get the N+ is another 1/3. The final part is the most important, be an intern/volunteer at a church/school/community center for x # hours per week for several months. You need to get the name, email, business address, good phone, of that IT person you assist. That volunteer gig will be the key for your resume getting past HR madness to the recruitor. Peace.

Thanks for the questions. I can definitely confirm that 4/10 of these questions have been asked in my technical interview. I see the monitor isn’t working question is a standard one I was asked. I was also asked “what is an example of remote assistance, and what can you do with it?” And “How would you handle a customer who’s problem you’re not able to help them with?” I also can’t wait to hit my interviewer over the head with my BSOD answer lol. Anyway, some basic questions. I have another interview this week and I hope your questions will help me.
Thank you! Wish I saw this before my interview. I think I did terribly lol. They (four technicians and a corporate manager) asked me curve ball questions like "What would you do if a penguin came through the door behind you?" and "If you were on a boat, what five things would you want to have with you and why?" I've heard people ask questions like "How do you make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich" or "If you were an animal, what would you be and why?" so be prepared to answer questions like those, it might happen. I actually don't think I was asked any questions about "domains" or "IP addresses" in my helpdesk interview. I was just asked what my experience with computers and technology was. Tech questions I was able to answer, but there were very few of them. I have done plenty of interviews to be able to answer questions, but they definitely threw me off my usual gam with those questions. Not sure what this means, but I will be hearing back from them later this week. Fingers crossed I hear good news from them!
i think they were either trying to lighten the mood or see how adaptable someone is to unexpected social situations at work or if they're too uptight to fit in with the culture lmao

Thank you for these! These are some of the most important parts of IT: the helpdesk/support aspect. I really appreciate that you took the time to explain these commonly asked technical questions. One question that I've gotten quite often during interviews: Someone comes up to you/there's a ticket saying they cannot connect to the printer. However their internet/wireless connection is just fine. How do you troubleshoot this? Just like the monitor question, it's simply answered by asking which network the user is connect to. (Usually the Guest network by auto reconnection.) I've flubbed this question and it cost me an interview despite knowing this answer.

Besides connecting charge /power I’m curious what answer they want
They don't want a specific answer, they are trying to gauge your troubleshooting skills, what would you check first?, how? what would you check next?, how? ect.
0. very first thing to do is restart pc,(resets drivers, gives you a good base to troubleshoot from) 1. I would then verify the monitor is getting power, (by checking for lights, press buttons, -no lights check power cable plugged in both ends, check power outlet, switch outlet. 2. if has power, check data cable (swap cable) if no luck 3. cable good, check video out on pc, switch to secondary out if available, cant determine, grab a known working monitor with cable and plug into target pc, if you get picture you know the issue is not with the pc, take the black screen monitor plug into known working pc, if stays black definitely the monitor, monitor is bad replace.

I presented myself well, but what I should have done better was when they ask "ell us about your IT experience focus on only the pieces that directly relate to their job posting. I however spoke of 3 different types of IT positions I had done and I believe it just was more than the account rep wanted to hear. Luckily, it was a full-time position and I'm only looking for a part time tech position due to my disability management but lesson learned and progress shall be made :)
Great content, I had an interview but keep getting a common scenario based question: Where some user on same building not able to login, I gave the answer check Account, power supply, cables, credential but all wrong, I am not sure what the answer is? could you help me with this? Some users not able to login to the computer but they were fine yesterday.
Ideally, you want to ask for some clarification. What exactly do they mean by not being able to login? What error message(s) do they get? If they are getting an error message, that implies that the computer can turn on so the problem is unlikely to be power related; you can discard power problems.
Hello, Can you help me get clarification on the following particular job title? What is a Systems Administrative Support Specialist? I've tried googling couldn't find specifics to this job title. What is the average salary for this job? I'm looking to transition into Tech. Thank you so much!
Hi, I've never actually seen that title before, that's a strange one. But if I had to guess, sounds like administrative systems admin, which would basically be help desk. The job description should offer some clues, if it mentions office apps like Microsoft office suite.word outlook ect. Or tech support for administrative office personnel it's help desk basically
Nobody found it out that you are whispering to one of my ears. Your audio using buds/earphones hear only either one of my ears. :) Turn your balancer in the middle.

thats interesting for an entry-level , it can be a mixed bag though, if they are looking for a person with networking experience they would throw more network question in on the interviews, keep pushing though don't let that stop you, something will shake.

I've been there myself, it's not till you do a few interviews, and get a understanding of the process, that you realize it's not really as bad as it seems in the beginning, you won't be chosen every interview, its a numbers game, the more you do, the better you get at doing them, you begin to understand the interview blue print, then you start shining in interviews, and get more picks

Thank s brother interview tomorrow.. needed this
How did it go?
I presented myself well, but what I should have done better was when they ask "ell us about your IT experience focus on only the pieces that directly relate to their job posting. I however spoke of 3 different types of IT positions I had done and I believe it just was more than the account rep wanted to hear. Luckily, it was a full-time position and I'm only looking for a part time tech position due to my disability management but lesson learned and progress shall be made :)
@@MicTheXception Absolutely, every interview is a learning experience, the odds of landing increase with each flight
useful in 2022. Thank you :-)
Very welcome!
Great questions and answers
I really enjoy boss,I can't wait another video
Coming soon, thanks!
Great value, thanks! Subscribed :)
Thanks Fam!
Great content, I had an interview but keep getting a common scenario based question: Where some user on same building not able to login, I gave the answer check Account, power supply, cables, credential but all wrong, I am not sure what the answer is? could you help me with this?
Some users not able to login to the computer but they were fine yesterday.
Thanks, your question is still to vague to pinpoint, but I would start with checking network connection, DhCP settings on through to DNS address pool
Ideally, you want to ask for some clarification. What exactly do they mean by not being able to login? What error message(s) do they get? If they are getting an error message, that implies that the computer can turn on so the problem is unlikely to be power related; you can discard power problems.
@@JJFlores197 Great response Jose, you're absolutely right!, the more info you can get from the user, the faster you can troubleshoot the issue.
Thank you for the information brotha appreciated
You bet
Hello, Can you help me get clarification on the following particular job title? What is a Systems Administrative Support Specialist? I've tried googling couldn't find specifics to this job title. What is the average salary for this job? I'm looking to transition into Tech. Thank you so much!
Hi, I've never actually seen that title before, that's a strange one. But if I had to guess, sounds like administrative systems admin, which would basically be help desk. The job description should offer some clues, if it mentions office apps like Microsoft office suite.word outlook ect. Or tech support for administrative office personnel it's help desk basically
very useful video. I've learnt a lot. Thanks mate
Glad it helped, thanks
thanks man you got me a third interview
Awesome!, glad it helped, Good Luck!
This was a great video... Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!

Random question but we’re you a 25U in the army?
No I wasn't
That's crazy!! I was! Communications baby!!!!
Thank you.
You're welcome!
thanks, helpful
Glad it helped!
Nobody found it out that you are whispering to one of my ears. Your audio using buds/earphones hear only either one of my ears. :) Turn your balancer in the middle.
Yes I was working with some bad settings@ that time..lol
i thought google give u only the public ip address of your network router and not the computer ip address
correct
Isn’t that MAC address you talking about
No mac address is at layer 2 OSI model and it can't be revealed by Google.
@@PREMENATIONS there is a difference btn mac address and ip address
yo really like this stuff man. Just friendly tips for future videos.
work on your confidence i know its weird to talk to a camera i do it often and its awkward.
Posture up
use some more hand gestures (get them dick beaters in there lol)

other than that. this was a super awesome and useful video DO MORE DO MORE DO MORE GIVE US MOOOOOOOOORE

Thanks much. Audio was a little low tho
Sorry about that, it was when my system was not all there, thinking of re doing it tho
I see those dress blues in the right hand corner 😏. What was your mos?
Thats actually a pic of my cousin, he recently discharged
Heads up ur sound outpout is only coming thru one side via the mic but not ur music :D
Yea, it's an older vid, but good info
@@GadgetoolsUnlimited Yep im a Retired combat vet was level 1 IT for about 2 years about to interview for a CS 3 for STATE in MS figured I do some brush up.
@@KaiserDragonTV I love it, and thank you!, For your service

@@GadgetoolsUnlimited no i dont think i m getting that job for sure
where is the voice dear?
sorry the audio is very low on this vid
Audio is not quite good...
Sorry about that, @sky Larks this one fixed the issue ruclips.net/video/V6DZ3ACV3cE/видео.html
What's with the left only audio ... but music is all stereo.... you no audio tech guy for sure :P
The video was done 3yrs ago, The equipment wasn't the best, the video has been helpful to so many I wouldn't take it down, I've put up a sequel video to address the low audio quality of this one, but this one gets more exposure, so it persists. Are you an audio tech guy? lol
fix level of voice its not loud enough mate
Fools didn’t ask me no question like this. They asked me “A network drives pant isn’t showing up tell us how you would diag this issue” straight bs.
thats interesting for an entry-level , it can be a mixed bag though, if they are looking for a person with networking experience they would throw more network question in on the interviews, keep pushing though don't let that stop you, something will shake.
@@GadgetoolsUnlimited Yeah I'm not tripping, it was a job contracted through TEKsystems for $19 an hour. Just crazy question for a job paying this little and wanting you to know so much.
fix your audio bro
its funny how i know all the questions but am too scared to go for an interview
I've been there myself, it's not till you do a few interviews, and get a understanding of the process, that you realize it's not really as bad as it seems in the beginning, you won't be chosen every interview, its a numbers game, the more you do, the better you get at doing them, you begin to understand the interview blue print, then you start shining in interviews, and get more picks
@@GadgetoolsUnlimited love for that
why the hell are you whispering?
lol bad recording redo on my mind.
Thank you so much. Most of these questions came up and I got the job 🤍
Congratulations! I hope it's everything you want to be, it has been for me.
Thank you sir
Thank you!
Thank you!!
