    That sea water eats it all up.

    Yes the QM2 is now 20. Yes might be outdated for the bathroom, or sockets, and no USB Ports. Hey guys…I take these missings easily, and this is part of this Classic liner. When you not agree, you have a huge choice for all these Mega Cruise Liners. I did. in April a roundtrip in a sheltered cabin 5047 & 5060 … these cabins were just fine for the 2 crossings….also with bath curtain, and without USB 😅

    It would be nice to see the results of the refurb. I'm sure Cunard will address the understandable wear and tear, but will it have better and more electrical sockets, better lighting and a shower door, maybe?
    You did well there Paul - straight after a nap I talk gibberish for at least half an hour. Btw I too always automatically grab all of the high shelves for my stuff - mainly cos I'm fully trained to rather than by choice tbh.

      Lol! Apparently, the cabins are exactly the same, nothing added since the refurbishment. We have been told that there have been new carpets around the ship in the majority of places and new chairs and all external parts painted.

    Great video. I agree with @leocatcruises that the salt in sea water is relentless in eating through the paintwork to get at the metal in the hull. Even though QM2 has had a recent facelift, after one or two crossings of the Atlantic you would see the salty sea spray starting to show rust stains. While this may be unsightly, it in no way affects the ship's sea worthiness. I agree with Paul that it may make the ship look tired. Myself and my wife saw this on QM2 and on other ships over the years. I would love to be on QM2 immediately after her facelift to see her freshly painted. Again, thanks for the lovely tour of the sheltered cabin. It is our favorite stateroom also.

    Because this cabin is on a lower level, there is less movement of the ship, unlike cabins that are higher up.

    Loved the video. Always interesting, always a laugh: in a good way 👍
    - we have taken a sheltered cabin on QM2 half a dozen times on a Transatlantic. Always liked them. In the winter/spring/autumn they are idea. Rough seas mean a conventional glazed balcony isn't much use.
    - she is a "classy lassie"
    - I also hate plastic shower curtains and Cunard need to look at power outlets. The in cabin TV system is poor.
    - she is now an older ship. She takes a hammering on Transatlantic crossings. No other ship could cope with what she does, and IMO she does it very well. But yes, she needed a face lift

      They come with room service orders - we've done room service for breakfasts and once for 'afternoon tea'. The 'tea' only included the sandwiches, scones, clotted cream, jams, cups and saucers - but not tea in a pot. Needed to use the provided kettle & tea bags.

    How odd that there are no electrical outlets at the bedside tables, especially these days, with all of the gadgets people carry. (Even my 80 year old mother has an iPhone!) Hopefully Cunard will add USB ports to the cabins in the next refit. Great vlog series!

    You make me want to go on Cunard. How would it work for me as a solo traveller

    • @ajs11201
      @ajs11201 5 месяцев назад +1

      QM2 has some specialty solo cabins on Decks 2 and 3, but be warned: they are in very high demand and book up almost immediately after the cruise opens for sale. As far as fitting in--I think you'd do well. There are myriad social activities, which are just fine for individual travelers. In fact, on our last cruise, my husband and I often separated from each other in search of our own particular interests, and neither of us had any troubles integrating with other passengers.

    Functional bathroom means small and outdated. The ship needs new fittings in bathroom and cabins. Competition must be laughing
