Thank you so much Raymond. Having subscribers, people watching the episodes and adverts definitely helps. Thank you for watching and supporting the channel.
Hello Bruce , I am a 64 yo women who grew up in Harare but left in 1981. I live in beautiful Canada but my heart will always belong in Zim. Thankyou for your videos, they mean a lot.
Thank you for putting a smile on every child you gave that soccer ball, about carrying 25l buckets of water thats life for every zimbabwean rural child, from ages of 8 thats h9w i was brought up but thankful my dad had to send us to the city(masvingo) for school.
Thanks again Bruce for more spectacular views of Zimbabwe. I loved the Eastern Highlands when we used to visit as kids. It was there for the first time that I saw ice on the windscreen of the car in the morning. Beautiful country and wonderful people.
Just amazing. Born in Bulawayo left 1969. Never went to the Highlands which I had. Been back to Bulawayo and Vic Falls and hwange 2017. Amazing. Your videos are wonderful. Thank you for showing people what an amazing country it is and the fabulous people.
Thank you Mandy. One of the reasons I started and carried on trying to make RUclips videos was to show the side that media does not show. There is so much more than the negative media exposure and it is a truly amazing country and people. Thank you for watching and commenting.
I certainly agree with you! A solar water pump for the natural slide if its dry season, the pond/pool - I know it’s at its natural state but even a net in the pond/pool to help filter the landing area of those sliding down (then the rest of the pond/pool can remain at its natural state), grass cleared and a few updates here and there I really do believe it can be revived to its former glory! 🎉 I think I want to visit and see this place for sure and see where to go from there! Thank you Bruce for sharing this video. Keep it up!
Love that you don’t travel the normal roads. Ill be adding Zimbabwe to my travels one day as you have shown me so many amazing site to see thanks Bruce
That ice--cream bell was just so nostalgic and brought back many memories growing up in Belvedere. I always tell kids about it. The smiles on those kids is just out of this world.
I love your explanations. I love your choice of routes too. So much countryside to adore. Thank you for your kind stops and the soccer balls. This is such a thoughtful gesture.
Oh Bruce thank you. It’s true as you say in the video. Those of us from zim have fond memories about little things like the icecream sellers, or the old milk and bread deliveries in the mornings. Those were the days.
I discovered this channel last month and I love it Zim has tremendously beautiful landscapes but my Province Manicaland is out of this world with its Breathtaking scenarios I call it the world's best kept secret 😆 Thanks Bruce your channel is very exciting

Hi Bruce. Thank you for going back and showing us Mermaids Pool. I too spent happy days sliding down the rock and sailing across the water on the foofy slide I was born in Harare, spent several years in the bush of the Zambezi valley and at the base of Mavuradonha mountain beyond Mount Darwin.I then went to school in Harare. My times at Mermaids pool were in the late 50s. So many good memories. I’m now 82. Wish I could go back. Thanks for reviving those memories.
Thanks for sharing Bruce. Was indeed Les Brown Pool situated behind Monomatapa. Mermaids certainly brought back memories, our joll back in the 60’s. Mike

Thank you Bruce for a wonderful trip down memory lane, even though it is many years since I was last there. I can so relate to your fear of heights..... I wouldn't even have set foot on that bridge. Well done for even trying. Keep on Chasing Smiles. 😀
Thank you very much Stephan. I am going to repeat the trip in the rainy season one day. It must be absolutely spectacular Thank you for watching and commenting
Such a great video Bruce, keep them coming! So wonderful to see Harare and wonderful you're able to visit where you grew up. Thanks for sharing where you go, I cannot wait to explore Zimbabwe.
Thanks so much Karan. Glad you enjoyed it. Im very lucky that I can visit fairly easily, the only problem is work and responsibilities keep me from traveling full time ....hahaha Thank you for watching and commenting
Exceptional video Bruce, manicaland is my home area and your drive brought back lots of memories. I should explore Harare when I go back for a visit hopefully next year after 10 years. You have shown me a lot of places and good routes to drive and explore.
Thank you so much for the kind words. You really should go back and please let me know if you walked across the bridge. The first one is ok but that second one is what stopped me doing the first one 😂 Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment

Bruce, thanks for sharing this fascinating video! Yea, the swimming pool adjacent Monomatapa Hotel is known as ‘Les Brown’…you’ve just made me so damn nostalgic with this video of the sunshine city ❤! Sadly, the Mermaids Pool is now just a derelict shell of its former glory! Remember enjoying a live show hosted by Don Gumbo & Ilanga Band during the musical outfit’s heydays ❤!
@@OverlandingwithBruce yea, can’t wait to fly back to Zim 🇿🇼! My dream is to one day roam around the dirty roads, villages, rivers & ravines just the perfect way that you do Bruce…kudos to you matey 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽!
My mother and her friends used to visit Mermaids Pools in the 1930s. She and my father were both born in Rhodesia. My great-great-grandfather and his 7 sons trekked up with the last official trek in 1895. I left Zimbabwe in 2009 and I don't want to visit because I am scared I won't want to leave.
The ice cream vendors haven’t changed since 1985! Did you ever have green mamba ice creams from the Dairy Den, or ice cream birthday cakes at Putt Putt? I can’t remember what the ice cream in Coca Cola was called but loved that too. The simple things!
Yes of course. 😂 The coke and ice cream was called “brown cows” . Dairy Den was such a treat to go to. My favorite was an icecream with a flake chocolate bar 😂 Thank you for watching and commenting Brian.
Thank you Shaun. Yeah seeing those children react like that to a simple soccer ball is priceless. That bridge is very high 😂 Thank you for watching and commenting
Really enjoy your video’s Bruce, always interesting. Just took delivery of a Defender. Would be great to get a walk around of your Defender and gear you use, including camera’s.
I am going home to Zimbabwe after 23 yrs in Canada. Taking my kids and my Canadian partner with me (their first time). This video made me want to get a good camera!
.......and plan some time to do some exploring. If you need a hire vehicle please email me on my channel name at gmail and I will help you out. Have a great trip and thank you for watching.
Oh man, this channel is a gem. I'm glad to have come across it and kudos to attempting the bridge walk. I've had issues with heights and struggle to go up high-rise buildings. Triggered my nostalgia. Loved seeing the community and, above all, the civility. Hope something does happen with that pool resort before the vegetation overwhelms it to a point of no return.
Thank you so much Ralph. I would love to win the lotto, by it and do something with it. So many years of great memories for many people as well as the opportunity for more memories. Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment. Really appreciate the feedback.
Thanks for upload. I'm watching here in Botswana. Zimbabwe is such a beautiful country. Have you ever been to Victoria falls and do you have any episode of it?
Thank you. Yes I have but that was before I started making videos. Will visit there again for sure and will film it. Thank you for watching and commenting

Your videos are so uplifting and just bring so much joy and big smiles always! Thank you so much Bruce for showing us the real Zimbabwe. Your love for the country is truly heartwarming ❤️🇿🇼 Hope you can go on that zipline next time👍🏾😁
Thank you so much. Really appreciate that but I don’t think I could ever go in that zip line 😂 Thank you for watching and commenting and I hope you enjoy the next episode
Great video. My fiancé enjoyed all the scenes from Harare. Her father worked at the monomotopa? hotel in the old days. Regarding your fear of heights..have any trouble getting up the ladder to the tent?😎. Just kidding..I’m scared of heights myself!
I have a weird fear of heights. I’m not scared with things like that or flying in aircraft and helicopters but on the side of a cliff or in a wobbly bridge I’m terrible. Happy to hear your fiancé enjoyed it. Thank you for watching and commenting

Wow that’s amazing history. Thank you for sharing it. Thank you for watching and commenting.
The coke and ice cream was called “brown cows” . Dairy Den was such a treat to go to. My favorite was an icecream with a flake chocolate bar 😂
Thank you for watching and commenting Brian.

Watching episode 3 right now! The Eastern Highlands is just special👌🏾
@misstinafz hope you enjoy and thank you again
Great video. My fiancé enjoyed all the scenes from Harare. Her father worked at the monomotopa? hotel in the old days. Regarding your fear of heights..have any trouble getting up the ladder to the tent?😎. Just kidding..I’m scared of heights myself!
I have a weird fear of heights. I’m not scared with things like that or flying in aircraft and helicopters but on the side of a cliff or in a wobbly bridge I’m terrible.
Happy to hear your fiancé enjoyed it. Thank you for watching and commenting
