- The AMP Research Powered Running Boards are the crown jewels of the side step/running board world, and this kit for Super Duty trucks is one of the cleanest, high-tech, and ergonomic ways to make getting in and out of your tough F250 or F350 truck that much easier. These steps feature an electric motor assembly and a hinged design that allows these steps to fold up and tuck against your Super Duty's frame while driving and then instantly unfold them into place when you park or unlock your truck. As soon as you're in your truck and close your doors, the steps fold back under the truck to give you improved aerodynamics while driving and a much sleeker, clean look than other traditional side steps and running board assemblies. AMP's Powered Running Boards are also some of the toughest, highest-quality steps on the market and can handle any application while being able to support up to 600lbs of total weight. This version even comes with Plug-and-Play Wiring and an OBD-II connector that make it extremely easy to install. The AMP Research Super Duty Powered Steps are the perfect solution for getting in and out your truck, especially if it's aggressively lifted and/or running larger wheels and tires

4:33 shows extreme craftsmanship and professionalism. Well done boys.
Bro im dead 🤣🤣🤣
AMP specifies exact torque values for all of the bolts with warnings against overtorque. I didn't see your impact wrench settings, but I'm guessing that those are all slightly overtorqued. And next time, please poke a hole in that grommet and pass the wires through the grommet to protect your wires from chafing.
When I run wires from outside to inside, I cut a small slit in a rubber grommet and not just put the grommet back in place with the wires against sharp metal. They will eventually wear through and short out.
thats was bad routing the wires through the floor grommet hole, then installing the grommet! Why not take the time to cut a hole in the grommet, and run wires Through it?
AHH, I know right? that bugged me too. Everything was done so well, but then they do that.
Well it's only a guideline for the DIYer, hopefully you would install yours to perfection.
Isn't there a better way to wire this besides tapping into the OBDII port?
great video guys, freaking awesome!
will be getting some this October.
are they available through any retail markets or Web only?
I'd like to see these on the new Raptor crew cab.
You should have torqued the three Allen key bolts on motor housing
Opening my driver’s door quit causing the step to drop. The back driver’s side still makes them drop and the driver’s door still makes the interior lights come on when opened. I’m flummoxed. Any ideas on what is going on, or how to fix it?
Will these plug into the factory wiring if you a lariat?
Impact gun on the battery termionals😂😂😂😂😂 I wouldnt want you near my truck
Impact gun on every single bolt!
Do these steps drop lower than the factory stationary steps? I have a 6 inch lift on my 18 f250 should I just buy the xl steps or will these steps have the same distance the stationary steps sit?
Yes, they do drop down farther than the factory steps
@Stage3Motorsports do you know if the brand makes a different model for the obs fords more specifically 1992-1996
Can you add a switch to leave them down? I would like to lower them when going up gravel roads for rocker panel protection. I don't like mud flaps with 37's
you can choose auto or off in ur display screen to leave em down permanent, click back to auto they come right back up
How many hours for the install in your opinion?
I run a easy link 2.0 tuner that I leave plugged in to monitor my truck so in order to run these steps they need to be plugged in at all times. Is there not another option to power the steps?
You might be able to get a obd2 splitter to run both
Did you order that truck with painted door handles or was that aftermarket? The f150 sport comes with painted door handles but the f250 don't!! R they the same door handles?
We did order the truck with the painted door handles
Michael Burke XLT comes with Black Handles. The Higher Trims come with color matched handles unless you get the chrome package.
Watched your video several times . Seems you left out one key step ! Pre drilling a hole through the body seam where each led light goes . I had to go back and cut all my connections and re do all of them . If you look at the install instructions on the Amp research site it clearly shows that step . Great narration though !
does this still allow you to run a edge insight CTS 2 tho?
If you also pick up this from AMP, you will be able to run your power steps off of your OBDII port, and another device like your edge insight CTS 2 - www.stage3motorsports.com//76404-01A-2008-2015-F150-F250-AMP-Research-Plug-N-Play-Harness.html
you can by a adapter that turned ur one obd2 into 3 obd2s so you can run both.
Why the use of the obd port?
to know when the door is open and closed to retract
Because the older versions of these required you using a "hit or miss" method of tapping into the wiring harness for the doors. I don't like the OBD connection personally.
HACKS!!!!! This is a prime example why you work on your own truck. So many things wrong with this installation! Great product though...
What's the difference between these and the stock power steps?
I just call the ford house to get price for the factory power steps. $3500 from the dealer. $1000 from the factory. Highway robbery
Make these wheel to wheel and I would be interested.
Wish they were hidden like the ones I installed on my 2016. These just sit under rocker panel identical to stock. You can still see them when not in use that defeats the hole concept of hidden running boards.
These might not completely be invisible but unless you're going looking for them they don't stick out, the low camera angles in this video make them appear to stand out more than they do.
Install got done, that’s good, but too many not very professional things done.... wires not insulated as they pass through hole in floor, seal pushed back on with wires leaving them in contact with the metal hole opening. Need some sort of abrasion resistant material such as heat shrink. Those wires are going to rub through and short at some point. Duct tape used.... unless it’s a crash repair to hold a bumper on until you get to a shop, it has no business in any automotive work.
If you live in snow country these will cease to work once ice and snow jam them.
I wouldn’t call this process plug n play.
Those motors look like cheap sunroof motors that when wet break and seize.... maybe get a winter out of the motors before replacing?
Duct tape???? Lmao!
That is a very poor way to wire the steps to a truck.
These are nice but I honestly don’t think they’re worth almost 2K... some products are way over priced and as long as people are stupid enough to pay high prices companies will continue to take advantage of people... come on people stop paying these high prices it’s not worth it at all... they’re making a killing off easy set of these they can lower the price by a lot and still be fine.. however it’s harder for us civilians to come up with the money when it’s almost 2K...
This was a half ass attempt at an install... be better guys.
What a garbage way to control these. If you ever have to scan for codes you have to unplug it. They had similar steps available from the factory and can be controlled through the instrument cluster. My new to me truck has these and boy I hope they aren’t wired through the floor like you guys did in the video. Wow. Junk.
For roughly $1500 this is WAY TOO MUCH work, most of this work should be done by amp
way too much work? this is childs play. LOL
Way too much work? Well we have identified a lazy person that probably just sits on the couch complaining about other people all the time and weighs 400 pounds because they just sit and do nothing. This is the easiest installation I’ve ever seen not sure where WAY TOO MUCH work comes from. Some people man.
I agree, he must play video games because this shit is simple but i found a site you can order the factory steps and make your own harness and tap into the ford system and control from the screen on the dash turning the steps on off and auto. I would rather have the factory steps. Just me, I like the fords steps better
Just installed this today on my truck honestly the easiest install you could ask for 😂… amp literally couldn’t make it easier.
