We visited the excellent Centro de Cultura Contemporânea de Castelo Branco (CCCCB). It has really interesting and diverse exhibitions, concerts and events.
This exhibition had a fascinating array of diverse works from the local artist Pedro Portugal.

Pedro Portugal, one of the founders and activists of Homeostética, a movement that marked the 1980s art scene in Portugal, is the author and curator of the exhibition ‘A ARTE QUE É IV’, open to the public from 23 March to 14 July at the Castelo Branco Contemporary Culture Centre (CCCCB).
This exhibition features 150 works by Pedro Portugal, produced between 1986 and 2024. As both creator and curator, Pedro Portugal has put together an exhibition that takes us through his artistic thinking and production, in which ‘art is explained iconographically so that we can better understand what the artist wants to say’.
Films, drawings, animations, paintings, sculptures and objects in a ‘comprehensive, intentional and explanatory montage’ make up the exhibition, in a wide-ranging set of works, some of which are part of the most important contemporary art collections in our country, namely CULTURGEST (Caixa Geral Depósitos), the Luso-American Foundation, the Serralves Foundation, CACE, the Funchal Museum of Contemporary Art, the EDP Foundation, the Ilídio Pinho Foundation and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, to name but a few.
Homeostética, as an artistic movement, was born and established in the early 1980s, when Pedro Portugal, Ivo, Xana, Pedro Proença and Manuel João Vieira (the polyphactic leader of Ena Pá 2000) were students at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon.
