We only get one chance at life and living a life a little bit less ordinary is a worthwhile path to take. People who live in houses often get bored wondering "what can I do today" but when you live on a boat, the boat is your life as you find yourself so connected with nature and the environment. It's a fulfilling experience.
It’s refreshing to actually know that not only do you talk about it, but you live it too! I’ve always made sure that my “home”, no matter what it was , it couldn’t be taken from me & it was paid for. I’ve also always made sure I had alternate ways of lighting, heating, cooling, eating, cooking and water. I had a small cabin at a lake for many years that very few people even knew about, but I could hunt, fish, get fresh water & veggies without leaving for many months. It’s good seeing people who welcome the lifestyle of being responsible, helping others and liking it.--🍀

I really like this young lady! And I so can understand everything she says about getting in touch with the elements and everything she has to fix and about her growing by doing all this. Living aboard is fine, but it is the capability of traveling the world that really appealed to me. I lived aboard a 33' steel pilothouse cutter (Caroff Chatham 33') and spent 7 years sailing all over the world mostly in the high latitudes north and south which are much less visited. My finale was a 3 year, 40,000 mile singlehanded circumnavigation.

Steel & ferro boat interiors can be far more interesting and homely than production plastic boats, I had a Hartley ferro at one time it was like a country cottage inside, lovely & sailed way better than you'd expect for such a heavy boat. I first thought: that's impossible!! So much room on a 40 foot, the same length as my sailing vessel. Of course it is not a 40 foot but a 47 or 50 foot sailing vessel: that makes HUGE difference. I must say I can very much relate to her philosophy and experience of owning a boat, being in touch with nature and the earth.

Hello Toni, we’re fellow travelers! I’ve been living on my self-sufficient Wauquiez Centurion 47 for the past 2 and a half years which I solo sail. Currently in Key Largo for refit and repairs after being hit by a 30’ center console doing about 40-50 at 2;00am while at anchor in Miami. They had two unconscious and lots of bloods, they fled but were caught. Looking forward to exploring Dry tortugas and Bahamas as soot as I leave this marina. If we ever meet you’re welcome aboard for dinner made with grass fed steak and the purest ingredients. What inspired you to pursue this? Wishing you happy sailing!

Love your boat!...I have been looking for a specific ferrous cement schooner for years now, 😢 It is a 48 ft, 52 w bow spread, The name was, "Sea Prince Blue" last known area was Victoria harbour in mid 90's It is very special, as my father built it from scratch. Should you see it or think of another 50 ft ferrous cement sailboat, schooner, mid cockpit, two cabins, name may have changed?. Please please post the where abouts, please. It is my goal to buy it back. We lost it in a divorce. Fyi, I am on the island too, so please anyone with knowledge, add info here on reply. Here's a legitimate question I ask alot but no one seems to answer. How do you keep from waking up at the bottom of the sea while sleeping? Is there some type of alarm to alert you the boat is sinking?
Concrete boats will ghost along in light breeze gusts if the hulls clean and they stay temperature stable all year round if kept dry.. even in the tropics. Yeah being evicted is really a bummer but it’s kind of nice not having to pack everything up since it’s already in and on the boat. Salt water is great for washing the dishes but you should still do the final rinse with fresh water. I’ve been on the hard for three years now since my last sailboat sank in it’s slip after the marina manager unplugged my boat after he threatened to have me thrown in jail because I didn’t have insurance. I like the force 10 heater those are nice if they are diesel fed. I’m currently in the market for a new to me sailboat I have two that have my attention and I would like to be a buyer after a full survey. I have a dog because I am allergic to cats and I don’t want to live on antihistamines.

Ahhh yes. Where would our roads be if not for property tax 😂 you realize there are plenty of other types of taxes right? We are taxed at 40%-50% of our income in Canada when you account for income, sales, and carbon taxes. Property tax is the biggest scam of them all, it basically confirms you don't actually own the land you spent your life energy to buy, you just rent it from the government and they seize it away from you if you don't pay an arbitrary property tax that they squander in unaudited chromisism and funding forever wars.

The earth's circumference is 24,000 miles. 40,000 km. No one who is at all salty would use the km figure.
This boat doesn't do much sailing, in my estimation. More of a floating tiny home. The fact that it has sails is inconsequential.

It is called the bilge alarm and gets off if a certain water level in the bilge (lowest point inside the boat) is reached

Ahhh yes. Where would our roads be if not for property tax 😂 you realize there are plenty of other types of taxes right? We are taxed at 40%-50% of our income in Canada when you account for income, sales, and carbon taxes.
Property tax is the biggest scam of them all, it basically confirms you don't actually own the land you spent your life energy to buy, you just rent it from the government and they seize it away from you if you don't pay an arbitrary property tax that they squander in unaudited chromisism and funding forever wars.
