- Glee actress Naya Rivera's son said his mum "jumped into the water but didn't come back up" in haunting words to cops as they searched for her.
The 33-year-old is feared dead after going missing on a lake - with her four-year-old son Josey found asleep and alone on a rented boat.
Authorities found the little boy shortly before 5pm on Wednesday at Lake Piru, Southern California, with sources telling TMZ Josey said that his mother had "jumped into the water but didn't come back up".
Divers and helicopters immediately started searching the lake but so far there has been no sign of the star.
Naya's life jacket was reportedly still in the boat and Josey was asleep when the vessel was first found.
Josey is now safe with family members. The boy's father is Ryan Dorsey - who Naya divorced in 2018 and stars in the hit crime drama Ray Donovan.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department began searching for a presumed drowning victim after responding to a report of a boy left alone on a boat at around 4.48pm, they said in a press release.
They later tweeted: "The missing person at Lake Puru has been identified as Naya Rivera, 33, of Los Angeles. SAR operation will continue at first light."
Divers searched the lake until nightfall, but were unable to find the actress, who 113 episodes of the hit musical series from 2009 to 2015.
The search is expected to resume after sunrise in the US today.
Distraught fans tweeted for the Sheriff's department to keep looking for Naya.
"Please don’t stop looking for her I beg you," pleaded one user while another said: "Y’all need to be out on boats with flashlights!"

He was able to get himself back on the boat (great thing she made sure he wore a lifevest) i bet that baby cried himself to sleep. Swimming and crying will knock a kid out so no telling how long he was asleep before he was found. I just keep picturing my son and how freaked out he would be if this was us. So glad he had the common sense to get on the boat keep his vest on and was safe. That tells me she has taken him on the water before and has taught him boating safety.

Also, it's Corona, why would she be with a group of people? The son said she went in for a swim, but didn't come back up. 3 hours had gone by, he probably fell asleep while crying for his mom. Most kids console themselves in the fetal position while crying, it's not farfetched that he konked out from emotional exhaustion. Not everything is a damn conspiracy. It's almost like drowning stories like this (which happen to hundreds of people each year) aren't interesting unless there's some sinister plot. Let's stop acting like this is anything more than pure bad luck. Boring, I know. Deal with it.

I don't know why, but I think she may have committed suicide. It's odd she drowned and they can't find her body on such a calm lake. She posted a photo of her and her son directly before they went out even though that's not her normal style. And 6 days ago she posted about being happy today cuz you might not have a tomorrow. Free T TV ....Since the child had on a life vest and because boats like this have a ladder attached (that feeds down into the water, over the side of the boat) it’s fairly easy and almost effortless to climb back in. I grew up boating on the water and swimming off our boat from a VERY young age. I did it many times. I hope this helps....such a sad story. 😢😢😢

Well shes a single mom... she can't do things with her son alone? She could of got caught on something, the footage doesn't show anyone followed her. They both went swimming and the kid got back to the boat but the mom didn't. Someone did see the boat, they should ask them questions. Anything could of happened.

There are rip currents in this lake (which I didn’t even know is possible because it’s a LAKE). Poor girl probably got pulled into one and drifted far away from the boat.

Well lets lay out the facts. According to her son she jumped into the water and didnt come back up. He was found asleep so only God truly knows how long he was by his self before found. And the police decided to wait till “first light” to search the water which is the following day after she went missing. The likely hood of her drowning is about 99.9% but of course. I’d like to stay hopeful she is found alive.

Not suicide she got caught up in something in the water and drown. She was a devoted mother who worshipped her son and loved being a mother. Look at all of her posts. She wouldn't do that with her son there. Also this was a lake she grew up on and went to often growing up. She was comfortable there and just had a horrible accident. Her son was in the water with her when she didn't come back up he got himself back on the boat and probably cried himself to sleep. Swimming and crying will knock a little kid out quickly so no telling how long she had been in the water before he was found.

Most likely collapsed through whatever and fell in, wouldn’t make any sense to take a four year old out in a boat with you to jump in and leave your child alone in a boat...probably stood up and collapsed, the child wouldn’t have necessarily had their eyes on the mother at that precise moment and would be hard for a toddler to differentiate between falling in and jumping in

The child said that he was swimming with his mother, so she didn't leave him alone in the boat. From the sounds of it, they went in together, and something happened to her, and he most likely climbed back into the boat, and fell asleep. I doubt she drowned, my theory is that she had some kind of medical emergency (such as a seizure, or passed out) and that's what caused her to drown. Because obviously, she could swim, why else would she not have been wearing her life vest, to go swimming?

Anyone who has been up in the grapevine, knows that it is usually always windy up there, at that lake included. I am thinking she went for a swim, boat drifted due to wind, either cramped up trying to get to the boat and went under (or even possibility cramped up while under water). Shallow water blackout is also possible. No foul play involved, just an unfortunate accident. Hopefully the son doesn't suffer from any of this.

4 year olds don't really understand the concept of drowning you know. He could very well fall asleep being exhausted from swimming and not understanding enough to worry.

The amount of people on RUclips that doesnt understand how things work is baffling. This was definitely not a suicide. And most likely, shes dead. It breaks my heart because she was my favorite character on Glee. We just have to prepare for the worst.
If she didn't use the life jacket, then it suggests she is a confident swimmer. The fact it appears the mother didn't panic or splash about before going under suggests she was taken under. Whether it was a lake monster or criminal frog men at work is another story.

I'm not coming up with any conspiracy theories, but it does seem like people are being quick to jump on others who think there might be more to this. Idk about you guys, but from the get go I've had a gut wrenching feeling that it just doesn't all add up.
First off, I think all the details of this case are important, because without them being noticed she may never be found.
Second, so we're just supposed to full heartedly believe this officer even though he doesn't know the gender of the child he interviewed? I know finding her is the most important thing, but how can you really feel like they even care when they dont have their facts straight? Not professional at all.
Third, I read one statement that said her wallet was left in her car and another that said it was left in the boat with her life jacket ??? Also where is the huge bag she was carrying in the video? She didn't go swimming with it, and it didn't just disappear. So ?
Fourth, for all anyone knows she could've been swimming and gotten snatched up while her son was napping, last he saw her could have been in the water even in that case. If he saw her get taken under by the water, wouldn't he have heard and seen her struggle? He would have had more to say, personally I don't believe he saw what happened to his mommy.
