Luz is 100% correct that it was a dumb decision to go out on the lake alone with a 4 year old. It was an even dumber decision to swim in that lake without a life jacket.

I think it's dumb to argue about it, but it's true, no one ever said she died saving her son. That's how rumors get started. This was a tragic accident and my heart goes out to her family, friends and fans. Very glad her son made it back safely.

Sounds like she helped her son first into the boat. My neighbor who was 4 passed away in the lake behind my house. His body was found by my landscaper. Drowning happens quietly, suddenly and quick. Thank you for not giving up the search. R.I.P. Naya.

It happened in 1 second. It was an undertow. Everyone was crying. His Mother was on the shoreline.
I have been in lakes like that & entanglement is real & serious thing. She couldve gotten disoriented & not know which way was up(because of very low visibilitywhen under water)& swam down into more gunk down below accidentally.
I also knew a friend of my brothers' that drowned in our highschool pool. He was on the swim team but he had a heart issue(If I can recall) during a practice with just a couple of people+coach & his body gave out. he wasnt able to swim out of the 10-12ft pool & he died there. There wasnt anyone around that saw his struggle. He just sank down😔.

Mac 77 this isn’t the full press conference (I watched live this afternoon) towards the end the press asked questions and one was regarding ladders specifically and he confirmed that all the boats have ladders (thankfully). I have been on many rentals that don’t though so I definitely see where you’re coming from. This is such a terrible tragedy.

It sounds like the boat drifted off and she panicked and tried to catch up to it while being in the water with her son. She must have been panicking immensely which is highly dangerous while swimming. It's not unlikely that she didn't have enough strength left to pull herself onto a boat after panicking and swimming after it while carrying a 4 year old through the water

I would bet that while swimming with her son, winds blew the boat steadily away from them. She swam hard back to the boat, holding onto her son, dragging him, and in a last burst of energy, pushed him up onto the boat, but was so exhausted that she couldn't do any more.
Moral of the story: always wear a life jacket.

A mother's heart and love go beyond boundaries. She made sure her little boy was saved giving him the gift of life twice. May she rest in peace and my condolences to the family.
This makes my heart ache. She spent her last moments in the presence of the love of her life, her son. She got pulled away and before she knew it she couldn't control the situation and all she could do is push her son to safety. Knowing he was safe was her goal as her life was being drifted away.
I remember when this all happened. Like many other naya fans, I watched the news every day for updates. Gave theories with fans. Then this update came out. I never realized how attached I was to naya and her role in this world until the words were said that she was indeed gone. I bawled. My heart sank into my stomach. I hope she’s resting peacefully. She’s missed everyday

Hello, when I was 10 I found a show on Netflix called glee and the first character I put my eyes on was Santana (Naya Rivera) and I immediately fell in love, this absolutely breaks my heart to hear this sad news. I am thirteen now and I have been looking up to her for 3 years and I know some of you guys have known her longer than me but she is still important to me. I love you Naya and I will love you and I will pray for you and your family. (The reason why the profile picture shows a man is because that was my dad he passed away a month ago so now I’m using his account, so you guys won’t get confused)

We have not been given the full timeline because we are missing a key piece of the puzzle. And we are trying to make sense of what happened based on what information we are given. A lot of people are feeling weird about this story because it seems to be more than just an accident. Like possibly a suicide, not a murder or health issue or anything. Then yesterday they said she had both her phone and wallet on the boat and was on FaceTime with friends/family, which they somehow were able to find a recording and locate her last whereabouts. idk this whole thing is really strange and the "timeline" is not adding up to me at all. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but I think there's more to this tragedy than the police are telling the public. But the truth always comes to light so.... I'll wait.

please I need therapy I can't stop obsessing over this and checking updates every hour since the search began and watching video after video about her. I didn't even know of her until this happened but it's one of the most tragic stories I've ever heard and it makes me sick to my stomach. I pray she is in heaven now.

Ok so when the kid was found he had his life vest and wrapped in a towel? Did the kid wrapped himself on the towel? 🤔 why wasnt she wearing her life vest? 🤔 how did she put him back in the boat? It opens a lot of questions.
Maybe she went in the water with her son first, the brought him back aboard and then decided to take a swim by herself; boat drifted too far and couldn't make it back. Just a guess.
The kid is 4, he’s capable of wrapping a towel around himself. He probably got cold or instinctively went to cover himself when he felt sleepy. Apparently the currents were pretty strong that day she vanished so she likely used her energy to boost her son into the boat ( adrenaline is one hell of a thing ) as it was drifting away. It had no anchor. She didn’t wear a life jacket because she’s a strong swimmer and probably thought she didn’t need it. She must’ve gotten tired and couldn’t support herself any longer and went under.
@@sharonita87 I have a 4 year old I can't imagine her wrapping herself in a towel. But to the question of why she wasnt wearing a life jacket, could her son have jumped into the water and she has jumped in to save him and didnt have time to put on her own life jacket?
@@Scorpio-- yea but couldn't she have held on to the child and the life jacket? I've done that before and it's helped me as a not so good swimmer with some someone with a life jacket on. I held on. To a kid actually. So if she was drowning why wouldn't she hold on to him OR why would she swim away from her child 🤔. It's just fishy because she's the 3 mom to die within 30 days who was known.
@@sharonita87 well strong swimmer or not that vest has a purpose and when doing that type of activity in a open body of water like that you should wear it, especially if you have a kid in tow. It's all sad n tragic I'm sure theres more to it and it will come out in the investigations

I don’t believe she ever had one on. Probably thought she was a strong enough swimmer. Probably tired out or got stuck on something & died. She loved her son too much to just take him somewhere & kill her self in front on him. It was simply an accident, it was her time. She made sure, her son lived. May she Rest In Peace.
I can't imagine that she went into the water knowing it was dangerous. She must have realized it after already being in. But really, we don't know and we may never know any of the details. The best we can hope for is results from the autopsy and that may not reveal much either. Sometimes tragic things just happen and we have to accept them.
She wasn't being stupid stop hating on her she died people have a heart and be sensitive. You got no right being on here if your just gotta hate on her or say something negative things about her.

The search didnt even seem to do much as it sounds like her body came up to the surfaces edge. If that didnt happen she’d still probably be lost

What is weird about it? Accidents happen all the time. Healthy, awake people drown. Things just happen.
What I don't understand is if she knew she would jump in the water while her son was on the boat.why not anchor it???

You are probably right. While stepping up the ladder to put her, not so light, son into the boat, she probably slipped and hit her head. After swimming, she may not have had a lot of energy left and struggled to put him in.
Princess LEY there’s a lot of trees and bushes under the water and her bathing suit might’ve caught on to it, the lake is known to have multiple drownings through out the years. It’s a tragic accident and nothing weird about it

That doesn't make any sense if her son didn't mention his mom falling or getting hurt. This whole story is weird. At first it was "the son said she put him back on the boat and then jumped into the water", and now it's "she helped him up and disappeared into the water". Those are two completely different events. She put him back on the boat vs. she helped him back on the boat. She jumped into the water vs. she disappeared into the water. Both can suggest many different possibilities. So I'd rather wait for the autopsy report to be released.

I can't stop crying and I was only occasionally aware of Naya when I once in awhile watched Glee. I'm devastated for her sweet boy and all those who cared for her. 🙏
I feel you. I watched Glee and liked her a lot, but really this situation is just tragic in general, whether she was a celebrity or not. Something about the circumstances just really captivated people's attention, even if they didn't know who she was. This situation has been at the back of my mind since she went missing. Just so senseless and tragic. It kind of reminds you how unfair and awful life can be sometimes.

They're saying she was probably killed by a riptide. Riptides are very deadly, tricky, and frequent, and people aren't really aware of this. They occur even in lakes, and you can't usually spot one until it traps you.

The cop says her son said she help him into the boat but when he turned she was gone. If she drowned or was drowning the child would have seen her but he didn't . my theory is some body was under the water and she was pulled under Thats why the son said she disappeared she was murdered i think.
