    68 years old, retired. painted for 46 years strait. glad to have survived the ordeal. have had many graco rigs. all were work horses. seeing this machine and the upgrades it has allmost make me want to spray something.

    The pump doesn’t affect the pattern other than by its pressure setting. Pump X, Y, or Z should all give the same results, assuming that the pressure gauge is reading correct.

    • @mallerpaintingcompany
      @mallerpaintingcompany  6 месяцев назад +2

      Ran some test on my 595 with new pressure gauge and was surprised to find the same results with emerald urethane. I’ve never had a pump with a pressure gauge and your right it’s all the fflp tip making the perfect fan at low pressure only issue I ran into is the tip getting clogged at lower pressures but I guess if you strain your paint well you could effectively spray a set of cabinets at super low pressures

    • @Bearzo23
      @Bearzo23 6 месяцев назад

      @@mallerpaintingcompany I think I’ve consistently sprayed fflp tips around 1,500 psi with no clogging problems. At some point your hand would have to slow down at lower pressures to get adequate coverage, I think. I love the speed of an airless, so I’m not sure it’s worth it for me to get the pressure terribly low.
      I’ve been painting for years, but for some reason never watched much on RUclips about it. I’m a solo painter/owner, hoping to hire a crew again someday, but it’s so nice not having any employee drama. I’ve been tuning in to see if I’m missing out on things or could learn more, especially on pricing. Once I build more confidence in myself and costs, I think then I can scale up a little more. 12 years in business, 20-25 painting. I love to spray new millwork and repaint cabinets. Might switch to a Gemini product called evo that a local store carries in my hometown. It’s water based, bonds and lays down great.

    FFLP tips atomise at about 900-1100 depending on what you are putting through them regardless of what pump you use ive put zinsser bullseye 123 through a 210 and it was absolutely fine

      The very lowest PSI I can get without tails on a Titan 440 or Graco 390 is 2000 psi if the product is thin enough. What pump are you having success spraying a good pattern at 900 psi?

    • @johnthemod71
      @johnthemod71 7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes no tails try changing your gun filter and tip seat that should work and add a bit more water than usual

    • @johnthemod71
      @johnthemod71 7 месяцев назад +1

      It was a cheap Wagner 250r I put the paint through a 160 mesh strainer after I thinned it out

      @johnthemod71 7 месяцев назад +3

      I've got a 440 impact and two Wagner 250r and a XVLP FC 3500 and I've put over a 1000 litres through a 250r and it still works absolutely outstanding little pump but a pump is only as good as the last person who used it if maintained properly they will run and run for years

  • @matthewmensing
    @matthewmensing 7 месяцев назад +5

    try putting a 200 mesh filter in the manifold and the gun. Strain your paint, then setup on low pressure around 600psi and use a .12though fflp tip. While you're at it, try a fflp414, at 350-400psi, you will be shocked.

    • @johnthemod71
      @johnthemod71 7 месяцев назад +5

      Totally agree with that so many people try and use an FFLP tip with a 60 mesh it just doesn't work you will get stoppages every time and never get a decent pattern and you will destroy the tip in no time at all

    Thanks for the demo. You show the pressure consistency of this new unit. I can see the big difference between the new 490XT and my 490PC Pro. How much of this pressure control do you can be attributed to the new pump that these are using?

    • @BR-lp6rf
      @BR-lp6rf 3 месяца назад

      I own at least 6 490s ranging from 2 to 20 years old. I use 2 for fine finish with fflp tips and I am skeptical of this new pump. I’m sure it is better in some ways but honestly, what advantage is knowing digitally what pressure you are spraying at? I would think you test it, dial it, then look at what pressure it is. So what? Also the big factor not mentioned here is what product is being sprayed. Huge factor

    • @swordfish1120
      @swordfish1120 3 месяца назад

      @@BR-lp6rf Graco pushes the quietness of the XT but that doesn't mean much to me given all my spraying is outdoors. As for the pressure consistency I really enjoy my 490PC Pro and have never had any problems with it. I think the pump in the XT is potentially more impressive if it actually can outlast the endurance pump by 5x's. Only time will tell if this turns out to be true. The biggest drawback on the XT is the $2500 price tag.

      @@swordfish1120 yeah but I have never burned a motor on a graco and I have owned 10 or more. Packings, pistons, bypass valves, etc are easy to replace. Electronics, not so much. I will probably end up with one of these before too long and we’ll see. I do have 2 quick shots and I must say, I really like them so I am not against new tech haha

    • @mallerpaintingcompany
      @mallerpaintingcompany  5 месяцев назад +1

      Great question I have not sprayed an exterior with my 490 yet only cabinets but I would assume max pressure (3000-3300psi) especially if spraying satin finish. You could also use an LP tip if you wanted to slow things down for some shakes or spraying deck railings then I would suggest around 2000 psi

    hello! how much does the painting machine cost?

    • @mallerpaintingcompany
      @mallerpaintingcompany  6 месяцев назад +1

      Might be a little different in your region but both the high boy and low boy 490xt were $2200. I had my option and picked the low boy as I wanted to add a hopper and the new power shot gun attachment when it comes out.

      @@mallerpaintingcompany I want to buy this painting machine for myself too. Now I use the Graco Ultra Max 495 American version at 110v, through a transformer, since we have a voltage of 220v. But my device is almost 6 years old, I want to upgrade it to a new version of XT. Tell me how much difference does it feel between the old models and this device?

    • @mallerpaintingcompany

      It’s a completely new system from the old Graco. They are significantly more quiet, clean faster with less water and can be sprayed efficiently at low pressure with lp tips. Definitely an upgrade from any older Graco 👍🏻
