“You gotta realize, skateboarding comes in waves. It has its ups and downs” that hit me particularly hard because I am 30 now and I look back to when I was skating everyday and getting really good. Now I’m not that great and lost a lot mainly because I don’t have that time anymore. But I want to really try and start pushing myself again.
2 things... 1- Guy is almost mythical like Julien Stranger when it comes to ever getting to see him skate. Like getting to see a unicorn or Pegasus. 2- he has got to tell his story on The Nine Club.
@@DFunct905 because I’m a nine club fan and a Guy fan. This mini doc is awesome. Not saying that it’s not. But it just scratches the surface on Guys career compared to how in depth his nine club episode could go.
@@DFunct905 yes going on the nine club would be great, this is awesome too. But getting to see the interaction between the crew and guy would be epic and bring a different energy as well. Besides it would be hilarious to see them fan out on Guy
36:21 I think these are the best words to live by as a skateboarder. Been skating for 16 years and I feel exactly the same way. Most of the people I skated with when I was younger all quit, but I still go to the skatepark at least once a week. I love skateboarding, and I have nothing to prove to anyone, I just wanna keep doing it for me. Keep pushing past my own limits. This was a fantastic video, feeling very motivated to keep pushing forward.
I’m about to turn 40...Guy was an inspiration to a lot of us growing up in Los Angeles..introduced street skating to us who only had gangs around us.Thank you to the Girl/Chocolate team for showing us an alternative 🙌🏼
love this so much, you can hear it in guys voice, and to have him say he's here to show people they can still keep doing it as they get older really is inspiring!
That made me reminisce from my days as a young guy watching guy in the blind video which is still my favorite video of all time I might add just because it brings me to a time when the skating was so big and raw to me! And then watching the other vids through the years that were super influential and in the end to hear Guy say I want to be 45 and making vid parts and then to bust into that sick ass ender part almost brought a tear to my eye. Thank you Guy and thank you Berrics that was bad ass🤙
This was really cool to watch ! Skateboarding has been such a huge part of my life . I’m 32 and still pushing .. tried to stop for a while and went down the wrong path but I was always seeing spots and it’s just a part of me forever . This made me think of all the videos me and my brother would watch in the early 2000s .. skipping school to skate or going to school and not hearing a thing but looking out the window and waiting for 3 o’clock .. watching menikmati, sorry , the 411 videos , on skateboarding, Transworld The reason / sight unseen , one step beyond , I could go on and on .. some of those videos still give me goosebumps.. This is for life ! God bless
Im 42 now fucked up a few times and skating always has kept me on the right path and closer to the best part of life, living and having peace, keep pushin' stay blessed.
guy has always been the one since i first saw him in ban this. same age, but always the best. i hear him say he was bummed being montageg in tim and henrys, but for us, this was part of him being even better. it was like a unicorn sighting. thx for decades of inspiration. love the dude.
Man. I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin of not even 1,000 people. No stair sets, rails, banks, ledges. The elementary school had one crappy little curb but we always got kicked out by teachers or the cops. Didnt have any skate shops around, no money for good boards ect. Wish skateboarding had been a bigger part of my life early on. Cool to hear of stories like this.
When he hits the back to back brick banks in the middle of his Mouse part and pivots around but then changes his pushing back to the stance he pivoted out of.
Highest levels of respect and admiration for Guy Mariano straight Triple OG status 🏆🏆🏆 I started skating in the late 80’s, and Guy was, always will be a hero & a legend 💯
I know these "life on video" take a while to make but I need more I love listening to the stories and how everyone grows up in the skateboarding community.
Guy is crazy feeling bad about the “montage” in Tim and Henry. The four or five tricks he did in that were the illest things anyone had ever seen at the time. He completely upstaged the rest of the video!
He doesn't really understand that nobody outside of the industry knew that it was anything other than the teaser for a blind video that it was billed as. Zero kids anywhere else understood he was "relegated" to the montage. Those tricks were mind blowing at the time.
I'm 44 and watching this has just reminded me that 90% of my tricks I've learned in my life where from Guy!!! I remember watching Guy's nollie 180 switch nosegrind 180 out on the picnic table over, and over, and over, thinking if he can do so can I! Huge inspiration Thank you Guy!
@@nusense101 holy moly i'd be happy to learn an a few basic tricks, i couldnt even fathom how many things need to align to perform a trick like that 😳 Also, in which part does he perform said trick?

Oh my era...love it and miss the moment so much. the best part is, eventho now 2022 but most of the new gen still cant do some of his trick yet. his trick is timeless
Damn I remember that sw fs shove nose grind was so crazy to watch as a kid. I think we talked about that trick for a long time. Thank you so much Mariano (and ofc all other legends) for all the inspiration. I can relate to drug/alcohol issues but skateboard is what saves us, so lets go skate again today!
Yeah right was the skate video to hype me up when I was 8 years old living in the valley been skating ever since never got good enough to skate for money but still have the love for skating and have some friends with great talent coming out of Texas
Mike V also said he was shocked when he filmed his first Powell video that he had a much better stuff he could've done, but Stacy didn't have time for it. That is so bizarre to me. You would assume that he would want to showcase everybody's best.
As he says in this video, he stands on the shoulders of giants, but for me Guy is the GOAT. Looking forward to him putting urethane to concrete again for his April part (fingers crossed).
Thank you Guy for your contribution to skateboarding and the huge influence you've had on my friends and I. Instantly makes you want to skate. Guy is one of the best.
This is what a straight up legend looks like.
Guy was crazy talented. I remember his action adds. I didn’t know about the dark times. Awesome too see his come back.
❤️ GUY speaking about that uncomfortable moment and breaking it applies to every aspect in life: girls, jobs, gigs, tricks and the list goes on.
His Mouse part is still one of the all time best video parts. Countless tricks and you can't tell which way he skates.

When he hits the back to back brick banks in the middle of his Mouse part and pivots around but then changes his pushing back to the stance he pivoted out of.
I love his no complies. I know that's weird, but they look almost as casual as Ray Barbee's.
But, yeah...the switch tre crook..
Every bank to bench trick of him
No batb this week?
Tailslide the fence on top of the bank
