    *DDTV thx for this magnificently helpful breakdown of the extra costs/fees. I'm looking to buy my 1st ATV, and, speaking frankly I'm not the world's best negotiator. Haven't been to a dealer yet, but this video helps me tremendously vis a vis 'the real world' of OTD prices vs. website prices. Thx again!*

      Text over Facebook marketplace with these Dealerships help though buddy. Just ask straight up front what the Out The Door Price is. Just say I don’t mind paying the tax but freight and setup fees,DMV,plates all that other stuff is a joke. Get a quote and head down there with it. I just saved $1800 on 2 atv’s just by asking that same question through a text on marketplace. In NYS

    Right now is the worst time to buy a Honda ATV. In my area there has been very high demand because of people stuck at home due to Covid and the Honda factories being shut down, our two dealers have very limited stock and can't even place orders, they only get what Honda sends them and have a waiting list. For the quads that they do have in stock, the sticker price or anything else is not negotiable because of demand, and there is not any factory rebate or incentive. At one of the dealers, the only break you get is they waive the 400 destination charge and the 395 set up fee. I picked the worst time to want a new one.

      Right now is crazy to buy. I see my local dealer posting any time they get something in, and it flies off the showroom floor right after the post. I would assume it will be pretty hard to get any kind of deal even on used machines.

    I was checking out a 2021 cf moto 600 touring and the dealer had it listed at 7700. I offered 7300 cash and then they told me 8500 out the door and wouldn't budge on the price. So I went to another dealer and I found 2022 600 touring for 8200 out the door. Still paid a little more than I wanted to but that's how it goes

    Fast forward to May 2021and dealer inventories are at an all time low. Rebates are now nonexistent and most dealers are taking preorders. If a dealer was to have your unit in stock good luck negotiating as they are bringing all the money. I wonder how the salespeople are getting paid when doing all preorder sales when customer could change their mind before unit arrives.
    Being a dealer in some states is very expensive and these types of products have very little mark up or profit for said dealer and hence the fees. You can find mega dealerships around the country that actually sell units at cost and try to upsell you on accessories and warranties when you arrive but that may have changed due to supply and demand.

    Is it normal when financing a Polaris atv to pay document and shipping fees out of pocket or are they normally put onto the loan? I know when buying a car I only paid sales tax and the down payment out of pocket.

    • @DadTechTV
      @DadTechTV  3 года назад +1

      When buying my ATV and car, all fees were rolled into the total price, and then I was able to choose what I wanted my down payment to be. I've never seen where I had to pay specific portions outside of the down payment, but there may have been a minimum down payment to get the vehicle. Not sure if there are any states that have different requirements.

    I’m looking at a Honda sxs the dealership has it for $9500. They quoted me $12,200 otd. I figured the tax would be about $700 which would bring me to $10,125. Is $2000 in extra fees normal?

    • @DadTechTV
      @DadTechTV  3 года назад +1

      It's possible. Did they give you the full write up of that 12200 quote? There may be things like delivery charge, manufacturer's freight, document fees, dealer setup fee, and then you need to ask if they threw in an extended warranty and/or any accessories. If it has accessories there may be an accessory install fee. and then tax on top of all those fees. It adds up pretty quick, just make sure they tell you all the additional fees and work from there.

    I wonder if you can negotiate out of paying the Delivery Fee, Dealer Set Up fee, and Document fee? Those all sound like pure bullshit added to leech more money off you. (I assume the Freight fee is what it cost them to have the ATV shipped to their store so I probably would just leave that one alone)

    • @DadTechTV
      @DadTechTV  3 года назад

      Those prices should be negotiable during regular times however from what I’ve seen the past few months, they can’t keep these things in stock so they are selling at premium. Even the used machines prices seem higher than normal. All depends on the area you live though.
