    Nice real world review. I came very close to buying a truck almost exactly like that last November but I decided to wait for the LT 6.6 gas I had ordered to come in. It did in December and I’ve got just over 7,000 miles now. These new 2020 HDs are impressive in my opinion.

    Hey Jim, good vids…
    Be sure to clean the MAP sensor on top of the L5P motor. They really get sooted up. Mine was a mess.
    That sensor really affects engine performance & towing. Change your engine air cleaner while at it.
    Diesels need a lot of air!

      I ordered mine 1st weekend of August 2021 and it arrived 1st weekend of October 2021. It seems that after that point a lot of things went south delivery-wise. The salesman said I was lucky to get it so quickly. I have the LT trim package. It has the power driver's seat but I passed on the 5th-wheel prep package and the parking assist sensors. Love the truck so far and am coming up on 15,000 miles.

    Thanks for sharing your video with experienced comments. I too own a 2020 2500 in an LT model, yet with the 6.6L gas engine and soon to be discontinued 6 spd. I love my truck too for many reasons and it runs buttery smooth and one can even hear a subtle muscle car sound muted only by the exhaust system. I hope the version of Allison 10Spd. which they plan to incorporate with the gas engine turns out reliable and all as it is not 100% the exact same as the diesel version. Having 20k miles on mine, it’s been totally reliable and strong for the tasks I’ve demanded of it and gets good-great gas mileage for such a powerful truck. PS, they need to completely upgrade the seats; make them less hard/stiff and simply more comfortable for a long haul ride; Hey GM if you’re listening, be the 1st to offer and Air-ride seat option 💡as I’d be one of the first to buy one (replace mine).

    I'm waiting for the 2024, because they redid the interior and also a 10 speed transmission. I always had the LT'S, but wouldn't mind the custom 2500 gas with a few options I would change.

    • @MidnightRoadGarage
      @MidnightRoadGarage  Год назад

      I'd have to drive a gas with a 10 speed to see if I'd like it. The power band on a diesel is all down low so at 3000 rpm it's changing gear to stay in the power band. With a gas engine the power band is much higher so the shift points will be drastically different I would think. Looking forward to checking it out though :). Thanks!!

  • @samgford

    The thumping is likely fuel sloshing around. Mine does it too. Definitely the fuel sloshing around for me. Stops when I have a full tank and minimizes below a half tank. Absolutely at it's worst at 3/4 of a tank. Initially I thought spare tire too but it was absolutely secure and I could actually recreate the thump from fuel tank by rocking the truck from the outside and listening to it.

    • @MidnightRoadGarage
      @MidnightRoadGarage  2 года назад

      Hmmm I'll have to give that a shot. My thumping is more a single thump though not a back and forth thumping like I would think that a fuel tank would sound like. I'll give it a shot though :) Thanks!

      @@MidnightRoadGarage I rarely feel the subsequent 2nd thump. In fact I never knowingly felt it until I knew it was the fuel tank and then was on the lookout for the slosh back. Is your thump felt if you you attempt to accelerate but then brake quickly? Pay attention to fuel levels too.

    • @MidnightRoadGarage
      @MidnightRoadGarage  2 года назад

      @@samgford my tank is almost always somewhere between half and full so its in your sweet spot a lot. Definitely happens when stopping but I'll have to pay more attention to if it follows acceleration. Thanks!

    • @samgford
      @samgford 2 года назад

      @@MidnightRoadGarage not sure if I was clear but it only happens on braking for me too. I can get it to happen consistently and loudly by briefly tapping the accelerator and then braking quickly. That was how I knew it didn't take much motion to cause it and started to rock my truck back and forth will parked. It caused the exact noise in the tank while I did that.

    I just subscribed to your channel. Do you tow a lot with this truck ? I’ve been considering a duramax but I don’t tow heavy loads all the time but when I do , they weigh my 1500 down pretty good.

    • @MidnightRoadGarage
      @MidnightRoadGarage  2 года назад +1

      I tow pretty regularly with it. Cars and trucks on a car trailer mostly as well as giant blue tanks on trailer (you might be able to see those in this video but if not you'll see them in other videos for sure). It doesn't really notice they are back there. I had a 2004 Duramax before this and it was the same way. I was so happy with the way it towed that when the time came I had to replace it with another one. Zero regrets. Tows great!
