You could see that based on how zuko was at that time when he had his own crew. Infact it wasn't until after him and zuko became fugitives of the firenation did iroh really started to try.
@Leanna S. Zuko was banished way before the avatar came out of the iceberg. From the time Aang came out to their battle at the earth kingdom only a few months had passed. Infact in the avatar world all of the events occurred within 1 year. Even if iroh was being subtle that's my point. I'm pretty sure only that teacher knows (thinks) that's Kuzon's (Anang's) mom. Katara was never introduced to the other kids in the episode and she isn't being fake pregnant like previous scene. One of my favorites of Book 3. Also, 5:30 Avatar fact: "On Ji" was voiced by Tinashe. The animation upgrade, their outfits, leaving a positive impact on the Fire Nation kids/ future generation, and music was all 🔥
Here’s a reason this episode isn’t filler. Fun dance party scenes aside, the original fire bending forms were actually BASED on dancing moves, yet these kids didn’t know how to dance at all because the fire nation redefined how they bend! This ep showed the effects of the propaganda on regular fire nation kids during the war (how they’re just as affected and the war is bad for fire nation too) and also demonstrated how far removed they are from the right direction as a nation since they literally forgot their origins! We see more about this in the sun warrior episodes.
“He deserves it.” Of course he doesn’t. He _is_ dealing with the consequences of his actions, but that does not mean he deserves bad things. This kid had part of his face burnt off and is desperately trying to win back the love of his dad- I don’t think he deserves more suffering. That’s just cruel to say. He had only just accepted his dad would never accept him when Azula presented him with a golden opportunity. Azula is the real piece of work here.
Zuko came to visit the nicest man and closest to a father figure he has, that he put in jail, and expects advice? That’s crazy. He lied about the Avatar being dead which gave Azula all she needs to control him so he’s already confused on what to do. But maybe if he’d gotten someone to break Iroh out or at least made an attempt to get him freed and just banished it’d be better. But no, does something wrong to become the rich and honorable prince, yet expects everything to go back to how it was.
I cant WAIT for yall to get to episode 6 this season and learn about why Zuko's the way he is, one of the best character developments in all of animation history imo
Someone probably already mentioned it, but notice how whenever Zuko talks to his uncle, it looks like he's behind the bars. Iroh on the other hand is drawn as free, elevated. Zuko is trapped in his own mistake that he subconciuosly knows he had made, and seeks for his Uncle as he was always there to guide him.

You guys do realize that Zuko is only 16 years old right? That’s basically a sophomore in high school. He was banished at 13 years old which is equivalent to a 7th grader. All of this is literally happening during puberty
The non-canon Chibi short Swamp Skiin' Throwdown originally aired just prior to this episode. Aang uses the belt from the school uniform as a headband, but no one seems to find this strange as he claimed on the first day that he had an embarrassing scar. When the Headmaster searches for Aang in the cave, all the students wear their belts as headbands to aid his escape. Aang wears it with the emblem upside-down; according to an extra in this episode, he does this to resemble his arrow. The music played when the chapter page is shown is the same music that The Flamey-Os play at the dance party. The history teacher refers to the Air Nomads as the "Air Nation" and mentions their "army", revealing more of the Fire Nation's extensive propaganda campaign. The dance party scene and the basic plot of the episode, a free-spirited young man teaching self-expression to the youth of an oppressive town, is loosely based on the 1984 film Footloose. This episode marks Combustion Man's first appearance. Katara and Aang incorporate "bending" moves into their dance. The leg movements in Aang's "Phoenix Flight" dance resemble those of Kazachok, a traditional Ukrainian and Russian folk dance. When Aang leaves the group as they go into the store selling meat, one woman is seen wearing some of Toph's disguise clothes. Mai shooting a dirty look at Azula The dance that Katara and Aang do is based on Ba Gua Zhang and Northern Shaolin, according to Sifu Kisu. Some influences from the Bagua style of the airbenders include the "circle-walking" motions and the two performers mirroring each other. "Avatar Extras" confirms Capoeira to be a verified influence. On Ji never once stated that Hide was her boyfriend. In fact, she was never seen smiling while he was with her. After stealing their disguises, each team member buys an accessory that resembles what they each usually wear: Katara's necklace, Toph's hairpiece, Sokka's wolf tail, and Aang dons a headband over his arrow. Aang's pasta drawing of Fire Lord Ozai appears in "Nightmares and Daydreams" in a fantasy battle. The scene where all the kids are wearing their belts as headbands to confuse the guards into thinking they were Aang/Kuzon is similar to the historical event where over six thousand revolting slaves said they were Spartacus in order to protect him from the Romans. This episode was already in pre-production by 2006, as evidenced by a post on Bryan Konietzko's Tumblr. This is the first episode in which Iroh appears without any lines. It is ironic how Ms. Kwan bows to Aang as a way of showing him that they bow to their elders when Aang is in fact 112 years old at this time.
@@THE202 what frustate me the most is the fact that Katara starts liking Aang just because Aunt Wu foretold her destiny to be with Aang. What destiny mean is what the creators want, not what Katara and her lustful impulses for cute boys want. XD
@@kindle1951 She didn't like him back then as far as i can recall, the first episode she showed interest in him was the cave of two lovers, i love that she grew up to realise what she really wants, we get to see how much she actually likes him in the first two episodes of the 3rd season. Also it's worth mentioning that aunt wu's whole soothsaying thing was debunked by the end of the episode so i don't think Katara stuck with whatever Aunt wu told her.
@@THE202 you are correct my friend! But how do i say this, her feelings toward Aang doesn't come as natural as with Haru or Jet(?). It's feels more like the "right thing" to do because they have been hinting a lot of how Aang feels toward Katara (but not Katara towards Aang) and the show is also ending, so they need to give resolution to this one sided love. *The show want her to love Aang* , therefore it became her "need" but what did she truly wants? *She wanted dem cute boys!* So does she need to love Aang just because he is the Avatar and they had been traveling a lot together through the entire show? *NO* . She even feel confused and angry toward Aang because he kissed her without consent, why? Because *she didn't want it or need it* . Did Suki acted like that after ma boi Sokka smashed her lips and shut her up? *NO* . Lets face it, she loved him like a good friend, more like a pet, like Momo. Yeah she always felt like that deep down. They even tried to develop this relationship more in the comics, cause' they wanna force it even more! And i'm not even Zutara fans.
This episode is not filler! One, Avatar team got their disguises. Two, Zuko got some character development and hired an assassin which becomes important later.
Iroh was crying because he knows Zuko really needs help but he can't help him. He did everything he could and now everything's up to Zuko himself. He's scared for Zuko.
I am currently rewatching your ATLA reactions. There is a tie-in comic where Sokka infiltrates the Fire Nation Army as PRIVATE WANG FIRE. It's as hilarious as you'd expect.
So anyone else notice that when Zuko is talking to Iroh the camera angles often frame it to look like Zuko is the one behind bars instead of Iroh? Which symbolizes Zuko's inner struggle because even though he has everything he thought he wanted he still isn't happy and is trapped in this life based on a lie which could blow up in face at any moment. The symbolism and detail of this show are OUTSTANDING
The sad truth is, the reason Iroh stayed silent, is because his VA passed away, so they written his character to give Zuko the silent treatment until they properly mourned and found a new voice.
Given how much the Fire Nation draws inspiration from imperial Japan, it's actually funny how even the fact that modern day Japan hardly has a dance culture works with this episode. What dance culture exists is almost exclusively for a handful of festivals and is very stiff when compared to many other cultures, with most dances done nowadays being imported from other nations (hip hop, for example).
Zuko said “Fuck it, hit man!” I also like Azula because she has lines occasionally that are literally just her being like “watch your back .” Sometimes she’s not up to anything.

One of the really sad parts about Iroh in jail is that he doesn’t speak because they were looking for a new voice actor for him 😢 since Mako past away.
I don't think that was the reason because greg baldwin started voicing iroh in the tales of ba sing se. I'd say it was probably more out of respect for mako that they didn't give him any voice lines

Every episode there was an interaction between them 2 and if they had no chemistry, they would’ve never danced
The fact that Aang can so openly and calmly talk about the air nation’s ambush shows how far he’s come since the Southern Air Temple episode.
watching this show i regularly forgot azula is just 14, sis is a BEAST and crazy manipulative esp for someone who’s barely a teenager
Wait shes how old ?
@@simonkelly1410 Fourteen, two years younger than Zuko but a lot older in a lot of ways
I sometimes forget she's younger than Zuko
but like, aang probably became a legend at this school or something right? he turned up late for school, got away with breaking the dress code, played a (probably) awesome game of hide and explode, challenged fire nation history, danced in class, beat the school's biggest bully in a fight with his hands behind his back, successfully managed to get all the girls to crush on him, threw a sick dance party, got away by earthbending, and then like two months later he shows up at fire lord zuko's coronation and HES THE AVATAR
I mean yes he's like the popular one and a cool kid
Fire Nation Katara is kind of a guilty pleasure of mine...
Grabs lotion and tissues
Jydn almanzar bruh
Do not feel guilty.
Princess Puyi is still Best Girl in this series.
She’s a child. A fictional child, but a child nonetheless😐
Is that Kuzon dancing with his mom 👀
Lmfaoooo
I mean, she comforts him like momma, she bosses him like big sister and she obligingly kisses him like a girlfriend. Super healthy all round.... So, yeah, not wrong.
Yup, and getting her moist
🤣🤣🤣
I'm pretty sure only that teacher knows (thinks) that's Kuzon's (Anang's) mom. Katara was never introduced to the other kids in the episode and she isn't being fake pregnant like previous scene. So as far as they're concerned she's just some else at the party. That Aang of course bring into the circle ;)
Yes Katara's fire nation costume is her best 🔥
Aang: Deals with a bully without even touching him
Teachers: YOU MUST BE PUNISHED
Accurate
Also the students are walking fire hazards
@@AquasubaI swear my older sister and brother got suspended the most cause my 3/5 older sibling was always getting bullied and they always defended him. Like bruh 🙄
Your “go away” in Irohs voice was actually pretty good, and funny
I swear Lupa’s one-liners and reactions be having me DYING bro ☠️☠️☠️
That kid going nuts on the dance floor will always be one of my favorite clips from any show
"Like North Korea changing the history books."
Me: *stares in American School System*
Nowhere near to that extremity tho
Well, mainly the 1619 fanfiction.
Brendan Clark it is to that extreme in American and Canadian history books
joy Such as
Brendan Clark American and Canadian history books used in schools are written by white people. Lol you think they told the truth. 😆😆😆
“enough of this kissing on the cheek stuff, y’all already did that. we need to graduate” LMAO
Azula does care about Zuko in her own way. She was not lying.
"If you watch closely you see that zuko is really behind the bars" comments incoming
lmao i literally paused the vid when we saw his first vid to scour the comments for everyone saying that
haha
“He deserves it.” Of course he doesn’t. He _is_ dealing with the consequences of his actions, but that does not mean he deserves bad things. This kid had part of his face burnt off and is desperately trying to win back the love of his dad- I don’t think he deserves more suffering. That’s just cruel to say. He had only just accepted his dad would never accept him when Azula presented him with a golden opportunity. Azula is the real piece of work here.
If you mean feeling guilty after what he did to his uncle then yes he should be feeling guilty.
Tinyrocket When YOU make decisions, who is responsible for your actions?
Damn, you right. Of course. Zuko has the consequences of his actions to deal with but no one, NO ONE, “deserves it”
That dance scene remains top tier. And that SOUNTRACK 🔥🔥🔥
@Tobias Cox my favorite by far.
Zuko is such a beautiful example of an abuse victim. He's also the love of my life.
Fun fact the Fire Nation girl that was with Aang was voiced by the Tinashe!
Fun fact:this episode is inspired by footloose
And you can guess what the Beach episode is inspired by 😉
@@XxdextriousxX The Breakfast Club.
This reaction so important to me that I quit a whole other video as soon as I got this notification
Rs both the guys funny af
"I don't think my parents want me dancing in a cave" 😂 it always gets me.
that tear drop from iroh hit me lhard. Cuz ripping your heart out and show it to you while it still beating wasnt enough.
I cant WAIT for yall to get to episode 6 this season and learn about why Zuko's the way he is, one of the best character developments in all of animation history imo
Love all your laughs individually. Gives me so much joy to hear y'all laugh. I love your content!
ANOTHER EPISODE OF CAPTAINNNNNNN PLANETTTTT THE LAST AIRBENDER
Yo I didn't even get the notif. I just wanted to see if it was here FOUR MINUTES after you posted it. Our chakras must be connected lmao
Someone probably already mentioned it, but notice how whenever Zuko talks to his uncle, it looks like he's behind the bars. Iroh on the other hand is drawn as free, elevated. Zuko is trapped in his own mistake that he subconciuosly knows he had made, and seeks for his Uncle as he was always there to guide him.
bro how come i didnt find yall sooner, yall funy af. and smart sheesh
*Thank you so, so, SO much for uploading today.* I was feeling a bit down and today wasn't just a great day. So far, not everything's going the way I want it to. But your reactions really makes me genuinely happy. I'm sure it makes others happy too. You guys helped make my day. I love your ATLA's reactions. I would also support you in patreon if only I could, but things are a bit tough for now. I do hope you continue making reactions because it really brings a smile to us, you trio are the best :) ❤
You guys do realize that Zuko is only 16 years old right? That’s basically a sophomore in high school. He was banished at 13 years old which is equivalent to a 7th grader. All of this is literally happening during puberty
Fun trivia: An-ji was voiced by Tinashe. Blew my mind when I found out
At that part with Katara and Sokka being parents I inhaled my tea and almost DIED please stop this hilarious editing otherwise you will kill me 😶😟
I always look forward to y’all reactions and lupa be having me crying sometimes bruh 💀💀
Mai shooting a dirty look at Azula
The dance that Katara and Aang do is based on Ba Gua Zhang and Northern Shaolin, according to Sifu Kisu.
Katara got aang simpin
(Everyone liked that)
Zutara fans are cringin right now.
Well he didn't just simp four nothing, he worked his way to that water tribe booty!
And i'm not even Zutara fans.
bro I like how sokka jus goes along with katara kissing aang 😂
been loving the shit out of all these reactions, i get so impatient but its so worth
Lol, did kinda expected to meet Kuzan just like how they met Bumi again after 100 years.
I really surprised that you guys never caught on that Zuko and Mai were a thing since childhood
This episode is not filler! One, Avatar team got their disguises. Two, Zuko got some character development and hired an assassin which becomes important later.
My Birthday is tomorrow, and just when I thought I couldn't be happier yall went and posted this, thank you.
3:34 Momo went: "shiiiiit, ain't nobody tell me that we were dropping by a buffet!😍🙌🏾 "
Iroh was crying because he knows Zuko really needs help but he can't help him. He did everything he could and now everything's up to Zuko himself. He's scared for Zuko.
The best dancers being an air bender and water bender
Bro I was just thinking "I hope I'll see more avatar reactions from Roshi soon" and here it is!! 😭💕
I am currently rewatching your ATLA reactions. There is a tie-in comic where Sokka infiltrates the Fire Nation Army as PRIVATE WANG FIRE. It's as hilarious as you'd expect.
The editing on Sheera’s laugh never gets old😂😂😂
So anyone else notice that when Zuko is talking to Iroh the camera angles often frame it to look like Zuko is the one behind bars instead of Iroh?
I think the voice actor for Iroh (Mako) passed away during this time so that's one reason he didn't speak.
Literally i was just watching the two last reaction of book 2 and the notification just came up,that's such a great timing
On Ji was voiced by Tinashe btw!
Zuko said “Fuck it, hit man!” I also like Azula because she has lines occasionally that are literally just her being like “watch your back .” Sometimes she’s not up to anything.
Love to see Aang using Kuzon name...
That's a real friendship there
Ongi was feeling Aang and he didn't even try 😂😂
i put off school work for a bit so i decide to work on some. then i get the notification. look i know im learning this stuff BUT, its avatar, you have to make the exeption. whenever these vids come out i drop everything
6:44 I guess some of you never knew and I'm not gonna spoil for those who didn't watch yet, but this river was THAT one katara used to DEFEAT..............
I've been waiting for this
So happy I found this channel! I can’t wait to see you guys finish avatar and go onto korra and go into Haikyuu more!
I know you probably get a lot of recommendations but The Boys on Amazon Prime is one of the best shows I’ve ever seen and the first season is only 8 episodes with season 2 just starting now! It’s really worth the watch
Uncle Iroh spent most of the season silent as a form of respect to Mako, his voice actor, that died before season 3
GO TO YOUR ROOOM! That part got me 💀
One of the really sad parts about Iroh in jail is that he doesn’t speak because they were looking for a new voice actor for him 😢 since Mako past away.
I don't think that was the reason because greg baldwin started voicing iroh in the tales of ba sing se. I'd say it was probably more out of respect for mako that they didn't give him any voice lines
Oh yeah that makes sense, I got the time frame off 👍
This kid must be legendary at this school after this. New kid who randomly shows up for like a week, throws an epic party in a cave by the beach, and then just bounces.
"two weeks ago she couldnt even bend water from her pouch" Tf are you talking about, she was bodying other water benders in season one. Lol
This episode is the literal plot of Footloose (1984); An outsider saves a repressed town in the form of dance.
y’all about go through one hell of a season
Yessssss sir man this book here will have y’all in a emotional roller coaster love y’all fam ❤️
Am I the only one that likes Aang with hair????
Im soo glad you guys are on this show! Cant wait till yall see the final! 🔥🔥🔥
It’s funny that one of the very few times Azula openly expresses concern, you guys dismiss it like it was a lye.
Y’all need to keep a closer eye on her. She’s way more complicated than she seems
Aang’s headband is on upside down, basically making an arrow on his forehead. You can see the symbol the “right” side up throughout the school (ex. Behind aang near the door, on school uniforms, & etc.)
