@@boulder1517 you right, she was always odd. Probably some type of mental disorder but it only was enhanced and made worse due to her mom’s fear of her and how terrible of an influence her father was. She’s probably a sociopath since she seems to lack empathy, manipulates to get her way without any remorse. Her only handle on her sanity was manipulating Tai Lee and Mai into being her friends but as soon as they left her she cracked. Her loneliness collapsed on her and she couldn’t handle it.
I love how everyone headcannons azula as the ultra popular mean girl when in reality she's the weird kid who wears a suit to school and plays "devils advocate" in history class.
And Ty Lee would *actually* be the super popular girl who is still somehow nice. And Mai is the emo quiet girl that exclusively wears black sweatshirts and talks back to teachers.
Lol bro, she’s BOTH of those things as the popular mean girl and the weird kid who can’t socialize. No one is “hEAdCAnoNiNg” ANYTHING about her AT ALL as Azula is both of those things because she was BORN vicious, cruel, and evil. They made a MASSIVE point of this that Azula was just born evil on the show. As she’s been trying to kill Zuko for the longest. Alongside her Father as well. It’s just that Azula realized that she can’t get out of it seeing how she’s so obsessed with war and suffering, but she was born naturally sadistic, unlike her brother Zuko. Zuko grew up in the same environment as Azula and he’s not a sadistic, he grew angry due to Ozai’s manipulation but he wasn’t born evil unlike Azula who loves seeing the pain and suffering of others. Azula was born pure evil and her surroundings made her worse OR arguably made her more control of her viciousness. Azula never is capable of loving anyone as she was just born a monster, her mother saw it, and Iroh saw it, and Ozai cherished it and valued her for evil monstrous side.
Azula's awkwardness in 'normal' life activities actually shows how she's been forged into a war weapon instead of a person. Also she's not completely heartless, she does in her own way love Zuko... But she struggles to understand why he's so discontent
@Pax mate early reactions too, they actually finished The Last Airbender long time ago. They're halfway through the last season of Legend of Korra lol I bought their patreon and just binge watched everything xD

The Faerie Prince that’s not the same. If I apply for work, they ask if I have experience. You don’t just say yeah I know about it, you have to have worked at a job before. That’s the real definition of it. They just have knowledge about it.
@@epicfights7898 A combination of good teaching and compiled information on the subject. If you know how something is supposed to be you don't always have to know how it feels. It was the Royal Fire Academy for Girls that they all attended, combat training was mandatory. Remember that the Fire Nation encourages women to join the military.
"My own mother thought I was a monster. She was right, of course but it still hurt." The thing is, I'm pretty sure Azula is _wrong_ and she's just projecting her issues on her memory of mom.
That's sort of the thing. Ursa didn't hate Azula, but thought that Zuko needed her help more. By the time she realized what Azula was becoming, it was too late. Ursa raised Zuko and Ozai raised Azula. We can clearly see those influences in their characters... *but* ... Azula really did want her mother's love. We see later how much that really hurt her.
Yeah the comic "The search" made that 100% clear. Ursa don't hate Azula. Azula is just insecure about that. Ursa probably still love Zuko more than her, but she is still her daughter. Ursa love her children.
Chan is the son of Admiral Chan, who was said to be on vacation on Ember Island in "The Awakening". During his walk to the abandoned beach house, Zuko experiences the same flashback seen in the "The Avatar State" and "The Storm". The music played at Chan's beach party is the same music played at Aang's dance party by The Flamey-Os in "The Headband". It is also played a third time in "Sozin's Comet, Part 1: The Phoenix King".
The Beach has to be one of my favorite episodes in the entire Avatar TLA series. It humanized the antagonists and we get valuable insight into the emotional baggage each one of them carry and why they're the way they are. The episode after always watching it, also makes me feel like the smooth rocks on the beach like Ty Lee said.
I used to hate it for being kind of filler, but I’ve warmed up to it over time. I just think the beginning of this season would have flowed better if the Painted Lady episode were cut.
This episode gets a lot of flak, for being overly dramatic but i actually really love this one. It gives a good glance into the relationships and headspace of young adults like the Zuko gang. Its messy and cringe because that what that time of your life is like, As oppose to the more childlike idea of a relationship of Anng and Katara. I actually find this episode tragic because you see how different their upbringings are in comparison to other teens. They can't even play a game of volleyball without utilizing battle strategy. They're very similar to team Avatar in that none have ever been able to just be kids.
This is the first time you see Azula vulnerable even though she hides it by saying her mother was right of thinking she is a monster another we see with Azula is she has bad social skills.
The introduction of Combustion Man's powers is one of the most chilling scenes in the entire series. the decision to make it without music made it even more epic. Still one of the most mysterious and badass villains ever.

This episode was influenced significantly by the film The Breakfast Club, which was used as reference material for the relationship-based plot of the Ember Island storyline. Joaquim Dos Santos humorously interjected the song "Don't You (Forget About Me)", popularly known for being played at the opening and closing of the aforementioned film, to the end of "The Beach" during the animatic phase of production. The A-Story of "The Beach", that is the plot that dealt with Zuko and the others on Ember Island, was originally intended to be the B-Story (secondary story). However, in order to flesh out some of the characters in Azula's team, the plans were changed in order to focus more on them than on Aang and his friends. The original swimsuit designs applied to Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee by series creator Bryan Konietzko stirred controversy in Nickelodeon's Standards and Practices Division, which said they were "too sexy for Nick" at an early point in production and had to be redrawn. The boat that the foursome travel on is similar to the ferry that Zuko and Iroh traveled on in "The Serpent's Pass"; the Fire Nation ferry, however, is much smaller and is drawn by a sea animal. This is the only episode where Azula shows genuine remorse. She does this when she apologizes to Ty Lee for insulting her. The torch behind Azula burns blue when she scares Chan. This is the only episode in which Ty Lee is seen crying. This is the second known time Ty Lee is labelled a "circus freak". Katara also called her that once in "The Drill". Azula's feelings about Ursa are very similar to Zuko's feelings about Ozai. Both of them believe that the parent they feel rejected by favored the other sibling more. The only difference is that Ursa never did anything to Azula even remotely similar to what Ozai did to Zuko. Katie Mattila was chosen to write this episode because of her prior experience with portraying Zuko's "angsty teen" personality while in romantic situations, as she had done in "The Tale of Zuko". This is the only episode from the entire series in which Azula kisses someone. Due to Azula being a "people person", she easily figured out the weakness of their enemy while playing kuai ball. The knocker on the door of Chan's house is in the shape of a lion turtle's head. When Zuko takes off his shirt to play kuai ball, several blushing girls start giggling over him. The exaggerated attractiveness of both Zuko and Ty Lee is typically known as "fanservice", a common facet of anime. According to the audio commentary, the beach's sand is gray due to volcanic ash, which is similar to the black sand beaches in volcanic regions around the world. The location for the volcano where Combustion Man attacked Team Avatar is based directly on a volcanic crater called Viti, which means hell, in Iceland that Bryan Konietzko visited a short time before creating the scene. A storyboard scene was shown at Anime Expo 2010 in which Combustion Man kills the two soldiers whose message to the Fire Lord he intercepted in order to prevent the news that Aang was still alive from spreading. This scene, however, was deleted from the final episode.
This is my favorite episode of the entire series, i just love seeing those 4 hanging out in a somewhat "normal" way. It's really sad looking at this in retrospective and realizing that Azula (even thou she's still a horrible person) was also a victim of her father's abuse as much as Zuko was. I love Azula.... because even thou she is clearly evil and sociopathic she still let's out glimpses of her humanity, it really makes you wonder how she would be like if she wasn't being raised by Ozai or if she had someone like Iroh to guide her.
I always didn’t feel bad for the two teens who had their house destroyed....but now looking at it they really didn’t deserve that. They were stuck up and rebellious, and mildly annoyed Azula and Zuko. That was their only crime 😂
Definitely agree. There's a lot of character development for Azula's squad that humanizes. I think that's one of the only things ATLA managed to do slightly better than TLOK. Create villain arcs that we could follow for a longer time and humanize the villains we follow. I love it. Granted, I love both regardless.
14:39 that smile Azula is having is most likely out of comfort. She is relieved knowing she's not the only one who is messed up. You know how kid Naruto felt relief knowing that someone like Sasuke is out there, whom he can relate to through their pain and suffering.
Since you got the new anime intro I just can’t bring myself to skip it! It’s so fire and props to the artist/animator🔥🔥🔥🔥 Awesome reactions btw! Love you guys!
I really wanna believe Azula sneering at Zuko's "anger meltdown" was her being sorta glad seeing how her brother is still as messed up as she remembers him to be. In her mind, it's only fair that they both stay damaged. She hates how their mom didn't show the same kind of affection to her that Zuko got, sure-- but I do think Azula loves her brother... not as much or the same way regular ppl would a sibling, but it's there.
The Degrassi gang of the Fire Nation have a nice lil therapeutic session by the campfire, then bond over *rearranging* the inside of a kids home for him. How generous!
The assassin performed a subset of firebending called combustion bending which was first displayed back when Iroh was showing Zuko how to redirect lightning; remember how Zuko kept blowing up? Well, that was combustion.
I so mad that they had a heart to heart, got sad, and decided that ruining somebody's day was the appropriate reaction😭 they rlly bonded over destruction
This is one of the most underrated episodes. We get the motivations of the behaviors of the villains, making them real people. In most cartoons there is a clear good and evil but here we as kids learned that people aren't just bad for the sake of it; they're not just stereotypes.
I related to Zuko so much. I felt his pain. I lived with a toxic abusive parent who I was trying to please. I was also angry at myself for the longest.
The game they played on the beach originated here in Brazil in the 60's as a mix of soccer and volleyball. Its called "foot volley" and we still play it a lot.
Am I the only one that laughed my ass off at "IM ANGRY AT MYSELF" like it had a great buildup and it's totally relevant in Zuko's character development but the angst in that delivery had me in tears
Yo, that campfire scene really shows how Azula lowkey cares for her crew. Like, she was the one pushing their buttons to get them to open up. Like her reactions to Ty Lee's soliloquy. You also think about how Azula knows that Zuko goes to see Iroh but Ozai doesn't say anything cuz Azula never told on him.
Anyone else notice the similarities between the scenery and flow of the fight between Aang and Combustion Man in their first fight and the finale fight with Aang and Ozai. The environment is extremely similar. The fight flows very similar with Aang pulling similar tricks to block/redirect his opponents fire blasts. Using rocks as a defensive armor.
The Assassin: **breathes in** [EXPLOSION] Edit: Wow this comment blew up (no pun intended, lol) but it gets you thinking on other abnormalities in the bending universe that are not mentioned but can be plausible [don't mention spoilers peeps xD]
3:40 & 6:34 Fire Nation clothes are the best :) 4:10 What does a ghost say to bees? Boo bees! 10:00 I really like the part with Zuko and his past. The episode had been funny so far, so the change to the quiet/sad part is great. 11:05 The sound effect of Combustion Man's fire bending is amazing. It still gives me goose bumps. 12:58-15:25 I like Sheera's little facial expression in that end part 15:59 That last picture is wonderful :)
To be honest Zuko's group are basically military kids and have been in constant battle. So of course they would lack major social skills. I love this episode. Great reaction guys.
If the heart to heart to heart to heart at the end didn't happen, you'd just think that Azula, Zuko, Mai, and Ty Lee were a foursome of weird-ass teenagers who need to go out and hit the mall a little bit more. But it really showed that their parents have made them what they are and are the cause of their eccentricities and problems.
14:38 azula is such a terrifyingly consistent villain lol she gave credit to her own brother for killing the avatar knowing something may be up, she may care somewhat but wow its kinda hard to watch
i love how they constantly ask what is wrong with azula like she hasnt been raised just knowing war her whole life? like shes a daddys girl and her dad is ozai, kinda obvious lol
One of my favorite episodes, love seeing the awkward human side of azula and seeing how raw zuko was with his emotions. Plus shitty rich kids getting their lives ruined is fun lol
The guy with the metal hand and leg is a combustionbender. A very rare fire bending skill, and only a very few people can do it and they can be recognized by the Eye tattoo on their forehead. This technique is extremely effective and very destructive, capable of use at close and long-range; it can completely disintegrate hill-sized boulders and instantaneously evaporate large bodies of water with ease. Combustionbenders concentrate the energy through a tattooed third eye to project a ray of heat which detonates with great force, producing situated explosions with a great deal of precision.
They're just Teenagers guys. Like they're at That Stage where they questions themselves. I can relate to Zuko tho, become Confused about what is right and wrong and what do i want just so that i can be happy. Infact it was perfectly timed to my situation right now 🤷🏻♂️

This level of obsession seems sad. Started out interesting tho
Damn, ol boy looks like a Coolio’s little brother lol. He is about to rap a verse before Kenan & Kel starts😂🔥
earlier video he was a drug dealer
@@mohmoh4779 stfu stop stealing from the creators
The two soldiers were talking about black ribbon message and I'm going to assume that also means classified. SO they won't say anything.
anyway, the assassin knew from which outpost that message came.. it’s safe to say those soldiers went *boom*
RIP
@@Guillhez yeah I have no doubt in my mind that he killed them.
Azula has been raised into a monster by her dad while her mom cared more about zuko so no one protected her, also she does care about Zuko in a way
This is my favorite episode of the entire series, i just love seeing those 4 hanging out in a somewhat "normal" way.
YOOOO this beach episode is to show how these literal CHILDREN (teens technically) are raised by war. They never had a childhood. Its sad bro XD
"Awww lil hand..." made me feel. 😭
I always didn’t feel bad for the two teens who had their house destroyed....but now looking at it they really didn’t deserve that. They were stuck up and rebellious, and mildly annoyed Azula and Zuko. That was their only crime 😂
Yes your ritht here
I can never skip this intro...
And this was an amazing episode for being a bottle episode.
Definitely agree. There's a lot of character development for Azula's squad that humanizes. I think that's one of the only things ATLA managed to do slightly better than TLOK. Create villain arcs that we could follow for a longer time and humanize the villains we follow. I love it. Granted, I love both regardless.
@@tutumaina3332 if you actually think TLOK is better then ATLA then you trippin bro
@@Rossi-oe3ou different strokes for different folks, bro. Whatever floats your boat. I think they're both GOATs.
@@Rossi-oe3ou it is
Don't let the emotional turmoil of these children bred for war and politics distract you from how sharp Chan's outfit is.
14:39 that smile Azula is having is most likely out of comfort. She is relieved knowing she's not the only one who is messed up.
You know how kid Naruto felt relief knowing that someone like Sasuke is out there, whom he can relate to through their pain and suffering.
Yes your ritht here l fell şad for her
Since you got the new anime intro I just can’t bring myself to skip it! It’s so fire and props to the artist/animator🔥🔥🔥🔥
Awesome reactions btw! Love you guys!
My man really said "... Train??" LMAO
"Zuko's pain always makes me laugh."
No one mentions the fight between combustion man and the Gaang but it's literally so good
👁💨💨
💨...
💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
I really wanna believe Azula sneering at Zuko's "anger meltdown" was her being sorta glad seeing how her brother is still as messed up as she remembers him to be. In her mind, it's only fair that they both stay damaged.
She hates how their mom didn't show the same kind of affection to her that Zuko got, sure-- but I do think Azula loves her brother... not as much or the same way regular ppl would a sibling, but it's there.
IM FINALLY EARLY, never clicked so fast
Ngl, that fight with The Assassin and Aang is my favorite part of this episode
The Degrassi gang of the Fire Nation have a nice lil therapeutic session by the campfire, then bond over *rearranging* the inside of a kids home for him. How generous!
One of the best episodes in the entire show!
Lowkey my fav episode of the entire series
Lol same
Me too my friend
The assassin performed a subset of firebending called combustion bending which was first displayed back when Iroh was showing Zuko how to redirect lightning; remember how Zuko kept blowing up? Well, that was combustion.
AKA: When antagonists and protagonists try to go on vacation
I forget how hilarious this episode is. And you all made it that much better.
I love the little detail of the sand being black. Areas around volcanoes have black sand.
Yo facts
The Assassin: **breathes in** [EXPLOSION]
Edit: Wow this comment blew up (no pun intended, lol) but it gets you thinking on other abnormalities in the bending universe that are not mentioned but can be plausible [don't mention spoilers peeps xD]
"Fire comes from the breath" -Iroh
So if you're firebender you breathe 😂
@Pax cool, also love your name, the Roman goddess of peace was called Pax
If it's Anime he would likely to say "Eksupurosion !"
I wonder what the script for those parts where he's in the show look like lol
I literally hear megumins explosion while reading this
3:40 & 6:34 Fire Nation clothes are the best :) 4:10 What does a ghost say to bees?
Another great episode and fan favorite of book 3,it also introduced one of the best avatar villians ever
CHAN&RONJON!
Ty Lee really broke out the simp bending this episode
Fan favorite right here got here mad quick too 🔥
Bruh how is Sheera pressed at these edits you do to her face, you stay doin her dirty😭😂😂
Ty lee: exists*
Very simp in a 5 mile radius: *nyoooooooooom
Including us.
Literally the funniest episode of the entire show it gets me crying every single time
You guys always hit the right time to upload new avatar ❤️❤️
"my own mother thought i was a monster....She was right of course, but it still hurt" the self realization yet still a monster.
Btw that’s called combustion bending
They were all bred by war. Well not Tai Ly but the rest yeah
Circus is war
I haven’t seen two seconds of this and already commenting
TheNinthGamer ur hella toxic lmao I pity u
Cool?
😂 Azula has not the slightest idea how to behave outside of a military setting. It's both hilarious and sad
I’ve been waiting on this one 🔥
Just a heads up when scrolling through comments ur logo looks like the Pornhub logo at a first glance.
SmallFry Skilledge 😂😂
Not gonna lie....
I thought it was pornhub logo too
To be honest Zuko's group are basically military kids and have been in constant battle.
But it really showed that their parents have made them what they are and are the cause of their eccentricities and problems.
zuko's pain always makes me laugh.... because if i didn''t i might cry
2:54 Secret Tunnel! 🎶
before i watch, i just gotta say your intro music absolutely slaps, can never skip it!
I'd watch a teen drama featuring Azula, Ty lee, Suki, Sokka, Mai, and Zuko.
me too, bitch (with katara, of course)
14:38 azula is such a terrifyingly consistent villain lol she gave credit to her own brother for killing the avatar knowing something may be up, she may care somewhat but wow its kinda hard to watch
i love how they constantly ask what is wrong with azula like she hasnt been raised just knowing war her whole life? like shes a daddys girl and her dad is ozai, kinda obvious lol
What I love is they Chan and Ranjan don’t realise there taking to royalty the fire prince and princess if they knew they’d never of spoken like that
That poor dudes home his dad is gonna be soooooo mad
rewatching this reactions cause they give me joy 🤣 but how did i not notice that sheera be looking to the left side so much 😭
ngl I'd totally fall for Azula's "flirting"
Daaaaaannnnggg. Roshi. 10:07 was uncalled for. 😂😂😂 this is why I watch y’all years later.
Ty Lee:....
Simps, Everywhere: "allow us to introduce ourselves!"
I love how this episode portrays Azula. She's always perfect and formidable but in normal teenage situations she's clueless
They're just Teenagers guys.
Like they're at That Stage where they questions themselves.
I can relate to Zuko tho, become Confused about what is right and wrong and what do i want just so that i can be happy.
Infact it was perfectly timed to my situation right now 🤷🏻♂️
4:57 the game is called is sipa takraw, a national sport from the Philippines
If only Azula's mom showed her the same love as she did with Zuko
I'm pretty sure she tried, I mean they were all babies at one point. Her dad just had greater influence on her so early in life compared to Zuko.
This is like the one of, or maybe the most emotionally raw scene in the whole show and they're laughing I can't XD that's too funny
