@@Fhesseti I concur, he is the most detailed reviewer ever, provides extensive details most reviewers brush through and tests them with enough information to make a detailed buy, he is my go to for all reviews. Lisa is also very great as well of course, my second fav.
Great looking machine and I really loved the USB c charging, it's just way too loud compared to the 14' competiton at similar modes. There are worlds between at noise levels between X14 and Razer Blade 14 2022. I measured a difference of up to 10! dB at equivalent modes (balanced X14 vs RB 14 balanced). I had the G14 2022 too and this one was in between but still much less noise than the X14. I even bought a second X14 just to be sure it wasn't a faulty unit. 16:10 would have been better as well. Waiting eagerly for the refresh! Love the build.
I really love mine and I ended up keeping it over other options because of the excellent CPU performance, and I play RTS mainly so CPU is more important than GPU. I agree that it's way too frickin' loud. Thankfully, it's not my main device. The refresh has the 16:10 w/ 2560x1600 screen and features a 4060, which looks a little below 3070 Ti in raw power from the previous generation; it should give me more than enough power for a laptop. Looks like they changed up the cooling a bit, too, though not sure it'll be enough. I might upgrade, but only if it's significantly better, as I'm pretty happy with mine. I've found that I really don't like big power bricks and stuff coming out of the sides when I'm sitting at a table, and as someone who double dips in Mac and PC, it's really nice traveling with one charger.
Wifey and I just started up again on WoW’s latest XPac Dragonflight. I don’t mind the bulk of my AW17R2 but is too much for her especially with Holiday travel. So, upon seeing your review on this model, I thought to myself if this came in under $1800 (which is what we both guestimated being the MSRP), it would be a good deal. Thanks for the tip on the BB price (They really should sponsor you). Definitely great value and just dropped it in my cart!
Good review! I like x14 approach. It cannot compare to a larger, thicker laptop, but some people don't want that high performance. There are cheaper options, says Asus G14, but again people have different tastes, want a different laptop, and can pay a premium. As long as it doesn't have a serious problem, $300-$400 is not a deal breaker. Dell has good deals during holidays as well, the price is not bad at all, if you get it at the right time.
First time that i see laptop with 3 sides (front, left and right) clean from ports and all the stuff are hide at the back side! I loved it with first sight! Merry Christmas Lisa and everyone!
The Asus G14 is sweating right now. Update: AS I was writing this, Lisa just mentioned the G14. This one one of countless reasons why she's the greatest.
@@mjsolomon5427 Yes, I'd always meant to get around to reviewing it, and with the season $500 price drop I decided this was a good time to finally review it.
I hear what you're saying, but I've owned a lot of laptops and desktops over the years and have only had one stick of RAM go bad, so it just isn't a factor to me
We live in a disposable society. Just pay for the extended warranty if you're really worried about it. The glued in battery will stop working long before it becomes obsolete enough for a ram upgrade to handle future bloated software.
Nice review, but Dell has already unveiled the new Alienware lineup at CES 2023 with the new Nvidia RTX 4000 series mobile GPUs and 13th Gen Intel chips. Dell have incorporated new design elements like RGB lighting on the touchpad and vapour chamber cooling solution. Will wait for you to review one of these once they launch it.
Lovely review. I'm so turned off by Alienware (Dell) after my last purchase that I don't think I'll ever purchase that line again, especially with the soldered RAM effectively making the device non-serviceable and/or forcing us into support contracts. No battery, no Ryzen, and seems to be a heat magnet.
she is very cute! never been in the channel and I'm from Brazil, don't usually see this type of content, but I'm researching about these laptops. Awesome video
If it wasn't for the m15 & m17 having AMD models, I'd say you'd be out of your mind given Dell is Intel's biggest customer. Now I wouldn't put it past them!
I've tried the Asus G14, which didn't have a nice enough overall build, and the Razer Blade 14 which had a surprisingly mushy keyboard. This thing seems like it might be the best of both worlds, but of course, it's missing a 1440p screen. I really think I'm at the point where I'd just build a desktop to go with my 14" MacBook.
Coming from someone that had an Asus M16 (traded it in for this one due to quality issues) what I thought was going to be a compromise turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The screen for its size is highly sharp and at first glance you might mistake it for 2k or oled, i had to pixel peep and even then it’s pretty sharp, don’t get me wrong it wont compare to a 1440 screen but for its size and quality you wont miss much if at all. So don’t let the screen turn you away lol
A big issue with this laptop if you’re gaming on it as i am and i own top spec x14, is the vram for gpu. Its not enough! Minimum should be 8gb not 6gb. It causes a lot of issues for games if you play ultra settings. You can def do high settings no problem!
If you want to play ultra settings get a desktop. Theres only so much a gaming laptop can do even if it is top spec, mainly thermal reasons. More vram = more energy = more heat
I really dont understand what they were doing here. The area behind the screen makes it dimensionally not much different from some 15.6. It's also not much lighter than the g15. The fact they prioritized thinness and used and alder lake processor gives issues when cooling. Also no QHD screen. This is just something no one should buy.
What is the best nvidia driver for this laptop? I installed the latest driver last month and it turns laggy for almost every single game like forza and fifa, then I install the original driver in dell driver's website and it backs normal, but i feel it's not the best driver for this laptop because sometimes (like once in 20 minutes) the game sounds brmmhhh like error sound in a sec then turns back normal. So what is the best nvidia driver version for this laptop? Help me pleaseee 🥺 🥺
I bought the X14 because I loved the way i can switch between graphics and have atleast 4 hours of regular use. I just wish the X14 will have 2k display with the high refresh rates, 1080p is getting old and at this price 2k is good.
I have had the worst experience with three Alienware I spent a fortune on, so no more. Add that this would not simply be for gaming, but for mobility, ergo why you spent extra for the sleek design, yet battery life sucks even with average at the best config. Poor value at retail, and best to look for a deal if you are sold on it. But best of all, buy something else.
No, but given that both the Asus G14 and Blade 14 are AMD, it's nice that Alienware offers an alternative for those who are interested in an Intel 14" alternative.
I would not buy Alienware laptop unless they change their design. The problem is how deep these laptops are. They do not fit in any normal sized bags. You will need a bag that can accommodate 17" laptops, defeating the purpose of 14": laptop's portability.
