"And what happened?...I GOT HIT!!"
YESSSSSS what happen? i got hit!
I used to love this show as a kid. I felt like a lot of positive African-American shows got cancelled in the early 90’s if there wasn’t anything negative going on in the show, so unfortunate!

Yes. I thought this ran for more than one season. Crazy.
They all did well and there was no drug or alcohol issues reported. That makes me proud.
Alfie is a crackhead though...
The guy that played Alfie had it pretty rough at one point, but I’m glad he turned it around.
Every Sunday at 1:00pm, my mom and I would watch the reruns in the late 90s. Those were the days. R.I.P. Karen Fraction. Much respect to Ralph Woolfolk too.
RIP Mrs. Karen ❤
@@rrg thank you so much for informing us about the fact she passed..I guess I speak for a lot of us kids from that era we were not aware. I assumed she was still alive and just walked away from acting or just low key doing other projects

We agree!
I know right?! You just can't find stuff like that on television anymore. At least not involving our culture. 😔

@@OAT86 facts
Viacom BROUGHT OUT Nickelodeon in 1995. They wanted an All That Spin Off and didn't want another Season of My Brother and Me. That's what happened.
@@Tornado1994 That doesn't make sense though. If Nickelodeon wanted to they could've had both shows. This is the same network that repeated Rugrats so often that it ended up the #1 cartoon in the US. Unless if they were like "well we can't have more than 1 BLACK show on our network" but then how do you explain Cousin Skeeter and Allen Strange?
Even with the disagreement, people disagree on set and in the writing room all the time. How would that be enough to get a show cancelled? something is missing from this explanation...
I loved this show...I remember there was a show called 'South Central'. I think it too, debuted in 1994 and only lasted a season.
Yup, Larenz Tate was in it. Classic....
Larenz, Maia and Aunt Violet from QS.
Tasha Scott, hidden jewel, Lamont Bentley RIP...🙏 Even JLO was n a episode...
Yep with Lamont Bentley and Larenz Tate. The creator is the same person that gave us Moesha after South Central was canceled.

I watched this show as a kid. I didn't have any idea why it was cancelled. It doesn't surprise me they couldn't agree on the direction of the storyline though.
There producers couldn't reach an agreement and it got canceled.
@@danielferstendig VIACOM canceled it when they brought out Nickelodeon in 1995.
This show meant so much to me as a young black brotha even back then. You would think that show had multiple seasons cause they ran the show til at least 1999. That’s my whole childhood right there and the whole Nickelodeon really. I think most of us boys had a crush on Kym Whitley on this show.😍😍Oh the memories. Amanda Seales been in the entertainment game for a LONG TIME. Who could forget GOO PUNCH? Kids show used to mean something back in the day. I don’t know what shows kids could possibly hold in high regards in later years. They’d have to go back and watch this show and Gullah Gullah Island. The impact of this show that had ONE SEASON can’t be said enough. The impact that this show had on is old timers(us 90’s kids are getting old) is incredible. I looked up the cast some years back and I saw that Karen Fraction died. I was very saddened by the news especially since several years passed by without me knowing. RIP to her.
I’m 32 now and I vaguely remember this show. I mostly just remember the intro and the cast members because it had such a short run. I also remember a little bit of Clarissa Explains It All, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, Ren and Stimpy, Eureeka’s Castle, Face, Gullah Gullah Island, Lamb Chops on PBS, What a Cartoon! on Cartoon Network, Captain Planet, Street Sharks, and etc.
Yesssssss, it was all about nickelodeon. We had the besttttt...I say....the besttt shows
I'm 38 and I'm surprised somebody 6 years younger remembers all of those kid shows lol. I was single digit age when they were on Nickelodeon.
@@Stressless2023 I was born in 1990. I remember my older brother had the Talkboy in ‘93 and I remember the commercial for it and Home Alone 2 looks familar to me too. I also remember Mighty Max which was the boy version of Polly Pocket, Energizer Bunny, 7 up commercials with Cool Spot, a little bit of Muppet Babies, Hungry Hungry Hippos and the commercial for it, Slinky commercial from the 80’s too, I think. I think that commercial was still being shown in the early 90’s, Burger King’s Club toys, a little bit of Tiny Toon Adventures and it’s McDonald’s toys from ‘92, Dr. Octopus McDonald’s Toy, X-men intro, X-men bubblegum tattoos, Power Rangers, and Amazing Fruit Gummy Bears. I remember the movies Dennis the Menace, Richie Rich too, I think, a little bit of Jurassic Park, a little bit of Free Willy movies, but I remember the sequel more because of the necklace it came with. I remember a little bit of Thumbelina, Angels in the Outfield, Lion King, A Goofy Movie, Little Rascals movie, The Flintstones movie, The Flintstones movie toys, The Mask, the movie Casper the Friendly Ghost and it’s glow in the dark toys, the glass cups of Batman Forever, and a little bit of the movie Batman Forever, but I remember more of the hype for that movie, and I used to play a Batman vs. Penguin version of Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em with my older brother in late ‘95, Jumanji, The Indian and the Cubpoard, and more on VHS.
I remember some of 2 Stupid Dogs, a little bit of Biker Mice From Mars, a little bit of Swat Katz and Swat Katz action figures and the Street Sharks action figures too. A little bit of The Busy World of Richard Scarry. I remember the sitcom Martin a little bit. I remember some All That, Kenan and Kel, I remember seeing Kel from All That dress up like Oprah. Are You Afraid of the Dark? The episodes The Tale of the Midnight Madness, The Tale of the Dream Machine, The Tale of Station 109.1, The Tale of Dead Man’s Float, The Tale of the Chameleon with Tia and Tamara, The Tale of the Dollmaker, and The Tale of Laughing in the Dark are the most memorable to me. I remember that show from around early 90’s to around ‘96, and Kablam. My older cousin used to make up scary stories and read Goosebumps to me at night in ‘96. She used to make up stories about a monster named Green Eyes that lived in the woods nearby where we used to live, but I had a lot of good times.
I remember all of those!! Nickelodeon used to be so good in the 90’s!!! What a time!!!

@@TBrown-mi8ik Oh my god, in the summer time watching Ricki Lake, Jenny Jones and Judge Judy. Cant forget Jerry Springer after school. 😂😂😂
I knew for some time there were creative differences that stopped this show from continuing which is ridiculous as it was a simple premise -
the kids got into misadventures and learned their lesson by episode end. The characters even had catchphrases and tropes like the Dad's long winded stories with the kids entering a monolougues. It wrote itself basically. How do you mess that up?
Really is a shame. I had a huge crush on Aisling Sistrunk, she went completely dark after the show.

When the IMDB website used to have message boards, I vaguely remember reading the actor who played the older bro became a rapper and the younger one turned to the Church. Supposedly the actor who became a rapper went down a “bad path” but since it wasn’t mentioned, I’m just going to assume he’s doing well and I’m glad for that.

Now that you mention it, I wonder if that's part of the reason why I was so drawn to Meagan Good. I watched Cousin Skeeter as a kid, but didn't really know who she was, not in the way I knew the girls from Saved by the Bell and Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

Show came on Sunday nights on Nickelodeon (1994-95) I was in the 7th grade. It was one of those shows I swear, went on a commercial break on the middle of the program and never came back on again. 'Thea' and 'South Central' were some other shows that disappeared into the night
Arthur Reggie III was also on Martin as Arthur Mane AKA Waterhead and he also appeared in a McDonald's commercial too
