  • Video showing a hands on (DIY) guide to replacing a Dual Coolant Flow Valve Unit on a Jaguar S Type 3.0 2005MY. In this instance although the valve was functioning correctly it was leaking quite badly. If this condition is not attended to the result could be that the valve solenoids can draw excessive current and damage the Air Conditioning Climate Control Module (CCM) circuit board. Earlier models apparently were more tolerant to the higher currents and less likely to be damaged.

    The best video I have gotten on how to repair / replace this valve. Before replacement, hot air came out of the driver's side and the other side; cold air came out.

    El mejor video que he conseguido de como reparar / reemplazar esta válvula. Ante de reemplazo, salía aire caliente por el lado del conductor y por el lado contrario; salía aire frio.

    Thanks for the lesson. I replaced the CCV on a 2005 4.2 which is a tighter fit than the V6. I improvised a bit by clamping the 3 hoses shut to forgo having to drain the coolant. Also I took hoses off directly from the CCV. Hope you don't mind this post, but I thought this might help out the V8 owners as well.

    I am a certified technician and when I have parts like this that have a probability of corrosion I use a simple trick-IGNITION & BATTERY TERMINAL SEALER-, You can find it at any automotive store. I recommend doing this before taking part out of car to allow dry time.
    Step 1: cap off any open ports and connectors.
    Step 2: coat the metal parts in a modest layer and let dry minimum 5 minutes stuff dries faster but just to be sure.
    Step 3: coat in another modest layer and let sit another 5 minutes or so.
    Step 4: check to make sure it did not get into any ports or connectors if so clean them.
    There you go simple and easy, just clean the part and reapply sealer every oil change.

    Thanks for the video, it did help but it was real Pain in the ASS to remove. Had to remove most of the hoses up top and the cowl induction intake hose to make room. Not sure what the Jag dealership would have charged but got the part online for 53.00 in the door. Not a DYI for the faint of heart.

    Hello your info is brilliant many thanks,however I do have a question about my Climate control I have a 2007 Diesel S. type.The climate is not very cold and I have been told by my local garage that the compressor is not working at its best.But the problem I have is when I first start the car even thought the climate had been on when I stopped the engine for the first 10-20 seconds it blasts out really hot air when I restart.Any ideas would be appreciated

    • @jaaagtv
      @jaaagtv  7 лет назад

      Hi and thanks for watching. It can be very difficult to diagnose these sort of problems remotely as the symptom may have any one of a number of causes.
      The climate not getting very cold and from the information you give could be an indication that the AC system needs re-gassing.

    When the AC stopped working I replaced the DCCV and still didn't fix it, I removed the climate control module and took it apart, found two copper traces on the pc board which were burn't. Probably when the valve went bad it was drawing too much current and burnt the board, repaired the burnt traces on the board and it works like a champ.

    • @jaaagtv
      @jaaagtv  4 года назад +1

      Hi Larry - Well done. Yes the DCCV can overload the CC Module circuit and burn out copper tracks. It's a shame Jaguar didn't include "overload protection" in their circuitry.

    I have a wierd issue in my 2.5 V6 S-Type. The heaters essentially kind of do what they like. If I use the automatic setting, I only get pure hot through anything despite the temperature. If I turn auto off, and use just the middle vents, I can actually get (some) AC air. However if I turn it off and on and start it up, it'll blow really hot for about 30 seconds and cool down slowly again. Outer vents will be hot still.
    Any clue where to start with diagnosis? I really don't want to lose this car but I've got a horrible knocking on start up that a quick google suggests could be big ends and I've got that horrible ticking noise they make early on in failure when driving. Can hear it when driving near walls/other parked cars. It's weighing up options really. If they can be replaced without dropping the block then I might consider it. If not it might already be time to wave bye after just a couple of weeks. It's a shame as it's a lovely car outside of it's faults :(

    • @jaaagtv
      @jaaagtv  7 лет назад

      Hi Paul - apologies for late response.
      I must stress that it is almost impossible to accurately diagnose problems remotely - so bear with me. Your heater problem could be caused by any of the following: - (1) Faulty DCCV unit (2) Faulty Climate Control Console. (3) Servo motors on the system control flaps - or a combination of all three. Have a look at the following link for some first hand owner experiences. www.jaguarownersclub.com/forums/topic/8615-hot-air/
      Also have a look at this link for further diagnostics help.
      jaguarclimatecontrol.com/diagnose/#symptoms
      In my experience the DCCV is the main culprit so check this out first. You will find diagnostic help on the link above.
      Regarding your engine noises - again I can only say that remote diagnostics is impossible. There are many mechanical components that can knock - rattle or tick either normally or as a result of something wearing or failing. However I would suggest that you apply the "process of elimination" approach in order to determine exactly where in the engine the noises are coming from and indeed under what conditions - e.g. on start up when cold - when hot (normal temperature) - whilst driving the car when the engine is under load or not (overrun). Get hold of a mechanics stethoscope probe to aid this.
      Sorry I can't be of any more help just now but hope you resolve soon.

    • @jaaagtv
      @jaaagtv  7 лет назад

      Hi,
      The access is certainly better if you can work from below and above. However it may be possible to do from above but the space to work in is very restricted and you can only really get one arm down there to work on it. I would suggest you acquire a pair of ramps with extensions to raise the car and access underneath where both hands can be used.
      Hope this was useful and thank you for watching.

    I've just bought an 02 X type 2.5 and the heater won't blow hot, only cold. After some internet searching I've found replacing the heater control valve may be the answer. Is this why you changed this particular one?
    Thanks

    • @jaaagtv
      @jaaagtv  7 лет назад

      Hi Jon,
      Our valve unit was replaced because the body was leaking. Although the heater/AC system worked fine this condition can lead to the valve drawing too much electrical current (due to internal shorting) and damage the Climate Control Unit in the dash.
      Your problem could be a faulty valve unit (a common cause of this condition) or possibly an air lock.
      Check out this web site for more of a technical overview.

      Hope you get it sorted and thanks for watching.

    Just replaced an AC compressor in 2005 S-type and AC is blowing cold only when the engine is revved. Had new AC compressor checked out at the dealership and the pressure is off in the compressor. There is a code that keeps coming up B 1265 Cool air servo motor failure. Jag dealer says the compressor is the problem. Local mechanic says that pressure will resolve in the compressor once the servo is solved. Which one is the real problem?

    Most likely common problems for Jaguar A/C Problems:
    1.) The Climate control valve.
    2.) Climate control valve wiring harness (sometimes needs new harness pigtail and wire to be replace all the way to pin out)
    3.) Climate Control Module reprogram or replacement.
    4.) Climate vent servos go out for ventilation selection.
    5.) A/C needs recharge of 134a to spec.
    6.) A/C Compressor fail.
    7.) A/C O'rings Need replacement where leak is detected.
    8.) A/C charger Port Schrader valve replacement.
    9.) Blockage In A/C Line.
    10.) A/C Pressure switch (part does last a long time).
    11.) And the Obvious broken A/C Compressor Belt.

      Hi - Well with a combination of rear wheel drive 247 BHP and an autobox - not very well!. To safely drive these cars in Snow (not ice) a good set of winter tyres will be needed. Even then it's still tricky and takes a lot of focus and concentration. Don't attempt driving in snow with summer tyres fitted - it's just too dangerous.

    Mine is leaking from that area could it be coolant ? Because it leaks like crazy sometimes , no over heating (yet) and I’m wondering if it’s the valve itself or the hoses

    • @jaaagtv
      @jaaagtv  4 года назад

      A thorough visual inspection of your hoses and Climate Control Valve should reveal where the leak is and a pinky/orange stain will be evident. If your valve is leaking both internally and externally it can lead to the valve solenoids drawing excessive electrical current and damage the dash mounted Climate Control Module. hi! i have a Jaguar s type 2006 2.7 diesel, i checked the AC a month ago, everything was ok. after that i had a leakage at the cooling system, i took it to the mechanics, they fix it, but now nor the heating nor the ac are working? can this dccv be the problem?
    thank you

    • @jaaagtv
      @jaaagtv  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Alexandra,
      It is very difficult to diagnose a problem remotely. However if your heating and AC worked Ok before the leak was fixed it is possible that the DCCV may be the problem. If your engine cooling system temperature gauge is reading normal then it may be that the DCCV electrical connector may not have been re-connected or of course that the DCCV has failed.
      Sorry I can't be of more help but as I say it's very difficult to diagnose faults remotely.

      Hi Melvin,
      If water is leaking into the foot well below the glove box then it won't be a leaking DCCV as that is fitted just behind the radiator at the front of the car.
      Your problem leak could be the heater radiator core which is mounted up under the dashboard.
      Suggest you get a local garage to pressure test your cooling system - this should show where the leak is.
      Sorry I can't be of more help and hope you get it fixed.

      Hi,
      It is just possible that the CCV unit has failed which has caused it to draw high current. This can cause components to burn out on the Climate Control circuit board behind the dash panel. However the pre-facelift 2001 car is generally less prone to this problem than the later facelift 2004 - 2007 models - but it can happen.
      I hope this information helps. You can often pick up replacement Climate Control units on Ebay. The following link is an example.

      Hi,
      I don't think that the smoke is coming from the wiring loom. It is more likely the circuit board which is part of the Climate Control dashboard unit. Go to the following web site where you can find lots more help and information about Jaguar S Type Climate Control Systems.

    I just had a Jag shop replace my heater core. Upon entering the car I caught the whiff of burnt electrical wiring. The steering was sloppy. Apparently they mechanic failed to tighten some nuts which fixed the problem. Now the defroster doesn’t work. Any ideas what could be wrong? I get heat and cold air at the dashboard, and footwell.

    • @jaaagtv

      To be honest it sounds as if the mechanic either hasn't re-fitted everything correctly or the servo controlled air direction flap/s have failed. Given your explanation of what you had done and the problem you had when you picked up the car I would favour the former. (technician error - maybe not made all the connections correctly). I assume the defroster was working before you took it in to have the heater core replaced.?

    Hello,
    I thought I had issues with my DCCV Unit, so I changed it not a week ago at a mechanics shop, I didn't do it myself, seemed like to much of a job. But sadly it turns out it wasn't the main cause that made my Jaguar S Type blow hot air on the defrosters and rear back passager vents. Can you please tell me what causes this issue in which the vents blow hot air? We've checked if the vents open and close correctly and they do, the DCCV is brand new, so I highly doubt that it's the fault, I replaced the freon and checked the levels in the same day I put the DCCV. I am out of options and this time around the weather is bloody hot outside, could you please help me?
    Thank you!
    Good day.
    By the way forgot to mention it's a Jaguar S Type 2002 with the facelift.

      Hi,
      Coincidentally our 2003 STR is currently suffering the same symptoms. We have replaced the DCCV - checked motors and flaps and replaced the AC Gas. We have also checked the Climate Control Module circuit board for faults but still only hot air from the system. The AC compressor and clutch haven't yet been checked as it's a real pig to access on the V8 SC engine so we now await an Aircon expert to have a look at it - but this is not until first week September as just now we are in the middle of a crazy heat wave and everybody's AC needs attention. We will try and post what we found and what the fix is at that time. Sorry we can't be of any more help just now.
      If you manage to fix yours in the meantime then do let us know what the fix was.

    Hello, I’ve bought a new Bosch dccv valve and I’m about to install, but I have no clue how to reach it, it is much easier to access it with the v6 but I have the s type r, any idea how to access it? So many hoses in the way and from the fender liner it seems too far away

    • @jaaagtv
      @jaaagtv  6 лет назад

      Hi Chris,
      We changed the DCCV on our STR whilst removing the supercharger to replace the infamouse "valley pipe". A lot of what is in the way of the DCCV had to be removed for that so it made the valve accessible. I don't think there is a simple workaround for this so it's a case of removing pipes etc. Recommend you replace the coolant/inhibitor at the same time. Wish you well with the work.
      Do let us know how you get on.

      Jag TV already drained the coolant and bought a low temp sensor so I am basically getting everyone coolant based done at once, so I do not have to remove the radiator fan? Only the pipes directly above it? Also may I reuse old pipe clamps or recommended to get new ones?

      Judgement call on the clamps. If they look good and are not cracked then they should be ok for re-use.

    • @jaaagtv

      Might be worth removing the "splash guard" below the radiator and engine oil pan to see what access it affords. The V6 can be done that way as shown in our video. Access through the fender (wing) can be tricky and awkward. Check out the workshop manual download link below for further info.

      Hi - as I'm sure you can appreciate it's impossible to diagnose a fault remotely without witnessing the actual symptoms first hand and indeed what symptoms lead you to change the Climate Control Valve in the first place. The climate control system which incorporates the A/C and Heating functions is quite complex and is a combination of mechanical and electronic components. I would suggest (as there is no one simple answer to this) that you have an experienced technician perform system checks with the appropriate equipment. Sorry I can't be of any more help but do hope you get it fixed soon. Please do come back to this channel when you have resolved it and let us no what the fault was.

    • @jaaagtv
      @jaaagtv  7 лет назад

      Hi Rich,
      The click you hear when you put the fuse back in - is as you say activating the valve. However the valve should only activate via the Climate Control unit and when the system is running with ignition/engine on. The valve actually receives a "ground" -ve connection when it is activated and not "positive" +ve
      Have a look at the following web link as it will explain in more detail.
      jaguarclimatecontrol.com/diagnose/#symptoms
      The whirring and clicking noise when you switch the engine off is quite normal.
      Regarding running without the fuse. The 2004MY model uses F14/10amp (inside footwell) for climate control and adaptive damping. So should be ok to remove. Try it and just check all works ok with exception of Climate Control.
      Sorry I can't be of more help at this time and hope you get it sorted soon.

      Hi Tom,
      Sorry I missed your question earlier. Anyway your whistling noise - as I'm sure you can appreciate trying to diagnose a symptom such as this remotely is quite difficult (well impossible). What I would suggest is that you get a colleague (as a passenger) to go out with you and try to locate the area of the car that the whistle is coming from. Once you have established this it will be easier to locate exactly what is causing the problem. Use a "process of elimination" approach.
      Sorry I can't be of more help - hope you get it fixed.

      Hello Jag, and thanks for your prompt comeback.....The whistle or howl only comes when driving at round 30mph. I can put the gearhift in neutral,[ its an automatic], turn the engine off and the noise is still there, then when the speed drops to about 25mph it goes away. The trans shifts perfect, there is no noise from the transfer case. If, from a standing start i accelerate a little harder than normal driving it does not do it, but then when speed drops to about 31mph it comes again until dissapearing at about 25mph. The car is in pristine condition has good tires and has only 65,000 mls on it.....Any Ideas would be greatly appreciated.........Tom Watson

      Hi Jag, also to mention that a few people have had the same fault, but up to now no one has been able to stop the whistle.

    • @jaaagtv
      @jaaagtv  7 лет назад

      Hi Tom,
      It certainly appears that you have ruled out the noise being associated with the engine. So at 30mph (ish) you have a howl/whistle. When the car is moving at that speed so is the drive train and wheels. Also when the car is moving air will pass through openings and above and below objects that might vibrate at a certain harmonic frequency related to exactly 30mph of air flow. I'm guessing the noise is either mechanical or air movement related. Have you tried the "taking a buddy out with you" idea I mentioned earlier?
      Cheers

    HEy I just had someone replace the CCV on my 2005 Jag S-Type and now he tells one of the connect hoses is leaking which appears to be connected ....some where??? Please offer your insight.

    • @jaaagtv
      @jaaagtv  8 лет назад +1

      +Shar Logan
      Hi,
      The CCV unit for the 2005MY has three hoses. Two of these hoses are connected to the CCV with pre tensioned hose clips and at the other end (just next to the ABS unit under the bonnet) it has "Quick Release" plastic push in connectors and you will notice that one is coloured Green or has green tape around the hose. The third CCV hose is connected with the same pre tensioned hose clip as the other two and comes from the main radiator pipe connected to the engine.
      Check the three CCV connections and the two "Quick Release" connectors when the engine is running at temperature. You should be able to see which is leaking. You can see the CCV unit with a torch. It is on the left hand side (looking at the front of the car) fixed to the lower section of the radiator.
      It is possible that the hoses have not be fitted properly or they have been damaged when replacing the CCV unit.
      Hope this has helped.

      +Jag TV . Thanks for your prompt feedback! I will check it out today to see which one is leaking... if I can locate the leaking hose ...Can I replace the hose? I called the dealer and they said I have to replace the entire dashboard unit.

      Hi,
      I think there is some confusion. The CCV unit is an electrically controlled dual solenoid water control valve unit which allows hot or cold water to feed hot or cold water to each or both sides of the dual controlled heater. The dealer may think that you were referring to the dash mounted Climate Control unit. If you have a leaking hose you can just buy/replace the one that is leaking.

    • @Logan-qj6ww
      @Logan-qj6ww 8 лет назад

      @Jag TV . Ok, I'll call the dealer again. Thus, what is the name of the hoses? Since I couldn't give them a name of the hoses... I think that's where the confusion lies...
