Heather I have to share that my husband and I were both raised Protestant and have done a lot of religious deconstruction over the last several years getting away from evangelicalism. We have been searching for a church & were encouraged to spend some time learning more about Catholicism. We went to mass this weekend and loved it! Watching your backlist of videos over the past few weeks have been very helpful :)

My grandmother wanted to be a nun. When she was 18 she told her parents that and they did not give their blessing. So grandma married and had 4 children,my father being the oldest. When My grandma was in her late 50s and my grandpa was in his early 60s he passed away from some health complications. Grandma and her best friend became cloistered dominican nuns. I never knew that was even possible. I remember when grandma was explaining to us, I was a preteen , what was happening..I asked her..what will we call you now? Sister grandma? lol...Wild story but true. You never know what God will do in the future.

Instead of asking the Lord to take away this desire that you have, make it an offering from the depth of your heart. If is not God's Holly Will, He will take your desire. God bless you!

Do you want to be married? If that's what you want then God's providence will work for you in such a way that you find the right person and you have the means to start on the vocation of marriage. Augustine said: "Love and do what you will" and Paul frequently talks about the freedom that our trust in God gives us. Once we make a sincere effort to do what is in 1 Corinthians13: 1 - 13, then we are free to choose the vocation or profession or lifestyle that best suit our aspirations, life goals and deeper desires.

I know women who didnt marry until after 50. It scares me to think that could be me. Yet I see these women live valiant lives. Getting careers, serving others, serving God. They didnt seek to solely pursue wonderful careers. They actively searched for marriage. It doesnt just come to us. We still need to be open and active. While still pressing forward in our lives. I have my education, a good job, going back to school. Then when marriage comes it does. My heart longs for companionship with a husband but we need to give ourselves constant reminders that he will come. We will marry someday.

Jesus did not reject you. Marriage is the vocation to which most Christians are called. I wish more young Catholics were as open to God's will as you are. They could step into marriage or religious life without regrets or wondering if they did the right thing. BTW, cooperating with your soulmate and the Most High God in bringing saints into the world and pointing them toward Heaven is a sublime vocation. Take lots of pictures, and frame 'em!

I was so happy at the convent and really thought it was my calling. I still can’t explain if it was fear, or if I was just weak and scared all at once before leaving. But now I see my vocation was different.
Happily married now with a beautiful son. God has a place for all of us in the Church to serve Him, we just need to ask Him, “Oh God, here I am, what do you want from me?”

That’s a very spirit filled testimony! At 68, I can say I’ve lived Gods plan for me. Looking back it’s easy to see the path God had for my life, but when you are in the middle of the journey, it didn’t make much sense by worldly standards. As you know by now, 7 years is a blink in Gods eyes. For anyone trying to discern Gods will for them, it’s a matter of obeying Gods perfect timing, and one day you will be able to look back on your life and recognize the road map he had planned for you!

It's so interesting how an experience like this shapes our future. I applied with the Sisters of Life and got a similar response very early in my discernment. It didn't leave me relieved - it left me stressed, confused, heartbroken, and lost. But what it did do is launch me further into more proper discernment and God willing I'll be entering a convent next year :) Anyway, I think young women and men should not be afraid to reach out to religious communities! An experience like this can offer a lot of clarity on the deepest desires of our hearts. God bless, and thanks for sharing!

I don't think "rejected" is the right descriptor for what happened. It sounds like they were able to discern in a way you were not at the time that your vocation lay elsewhere. The relief you say you felt at the time confirmed that. I'm sorry that you still feel it as a mark against you, and hope you eventually come to see how treasured you are and how God used others to preserve you for the role he had in mind for you. Married life can be every bit as equal in dignity and self-giving as being a consecrated religious. So happy for the grace that gave you the patience to wait for the right time to enter into marriage. God bless.

I enjoy watching convent tours and hearing vocations. I am not catholic but i am LDS. I enjoy learning of other religions. I enjoy hearing how others became closer to God. I could not be a nun but i appreciate what they do. I even appreciate those who say its not for them. Its not like they left catholicism. Being a nun just was not for them long term. I feel they go with good hearts, good intentions. They are examples of being selfless and giving your life to God. In my church, we dont believe in that. We serve God through callings (volunteer positions) within our respective congregations. I enjoy your videos because i am learning. I have no intention to leave my faith, but its so important to learn of other beliefs. I want to understand more. I feel being catholic can be like any religion, even my own. You have those who are very extreme, those who are just trying to do what they feel is right and understand. Then those who unfortunately dont make us look like normal people. While we dont use the term “discernment” or “vocation”. We do believe the same concept that the Lord has a plan for us. He has a plan for who we marry, the path we take in life. I am the type who will appreciate suggestions. I seek advice from those i trust to discuss something ive prayed about and felt. Just to ensure that im possibly on the right path. We ultimately believe in choice. The Lord has a plan if we follow it. We can choose against it but choices have consequences. Doesnt mean we wont mistakes. Date people we look back saying we shouldnt have or took interest in people we shouldnt, etc.

As a teenager I ones was in a charismatic Protestant meeting (long before I became a Catholic) I that meeting I felt, that God asked me to give up my desire to get married. Like an offer to him! It was very hard, it was a battle going on inside of me. But I finally said YES LORD, if it’s your will I will not marry! And I got such a peace!! But later I felt that I would get married. Felt that the Lord, just wanted have the first place in my heart! And that he had tested me. I’ve now been happily married for 24 yrs and we have six children together! God is so GOOD!! And an other thing to…You said you felt the place in Bronx “HEAVENLY”! I got JUST that feeling this summer when me and my DD were in Medugorie!!! I am Swedish and I HATE heat!!! But in Medugorie it WAS SO heavenly, I didn’t’ mind the heat and it was like 33 degrees Celsius!!! I was ready to move there instantly and become a missionary for catholics!! To tell them about the joy in the Holy Spirit and help people to get a personal relationship with Jesus!! Well now I’m home in Sweden again and content. Maybe that is a vocation for my future? Maybe not! 😊 But it’s interesting that I felt that way! I LOVE Sweden and hate to go abroad…But in Medugorie I felt I was in Heaven! 😍🙏

It probably has to do with the specific work they do. Different orders are looking for different things, charisms etc. It's very possible that the CFR sisters do work in environments that deal with the effects of that type of abuse and they've found that it can make situations worse for individuals with that particular history. They're also a little charismatic so it could have just not "felt right". That's how I got rejected by the Sisters of Life - they didn't in a single 30 minute convo "feel" like I had a vocation with them (and they even said at all)... turns out I didn't have a vocation with them but I do have a vocation, as I'll be entering with a different order that does completely different work!

One of the things that I'm really grateful after our church since I can't walk very well and the a priest brings me the Holy. Communion.
At my seat, I'm so grateful. What are Christians forthese are the same one that I always have confession wiwhen I'm making the confession? He knows who I am because he recognizes my voice. And that doesn't bother me. He knows who I am making that confession. Also, sometimes we don't have a divider. And we're making a confession to him face-to-face.
To me that's fine. I trust you very much.

I was told not to become a nun by a vocational director because of a condition I have. I am a single woman who loves volunteering at my Parish. I wouldn't want it any other way.

I don’t get why they turned you down because you had been abused in your past. Can you elaborate?

I made a mistake and I left the church. I came back to.
The church I've been back for 17 months now. What? What happened?I was going to different churches. And I thought our church is just like all the other churches. But what?I didn't realize our church is centuries old and the other churches broke away from our church❤ And I love our church so in my heart even though I'm using a Walker, even though I can't walk very well.I'm a usher in our church

I am sure glad I was never called to the priesthood because I love being married to my wife. And having kids. I wish I would be able to be a minister that anxiety host but that but the only problem is I cannot stand for a long time period Sometimes I wish I was born when Jesus Christ. What's here on earth? Would it miss him? And I wish I would have became a Catholic sooner. I used to live in Missouri and worked in Kansas City. Kand I was going to a form of social religion. At that time.
I was a mormon. I wish I were the king back to the church at that point. Even though I was doing the wrong thing, the Lord really watched it over me. I was on my way home from work. I hit the medium at 55 miles an hour. And I ruled my car on the freeway. I should have been killed now. I have A. Injured spinal cord. I wish I was in the church.
. I left the mormon church.
I came back to the Catholic Church. And I'm sure grateful.
I came back to our church. That's as centuries-old Jesus Christ.Choose saint peter to be the Is chief apostle

If you had a vocation you would have kept knocking on doors to other convents and orders. There are so many, even the Sisters of Life are in NYC. It’s like saying I dated one guy who wasn’t the right one.

Me too I always wanted to get married and have kids. It's kind of hard on me now because I'm age 67 I have health issues I have a spinal injury I've been doing MRIS other than that my health is pretty good and I don't look on that too much cuz I know it could be worse I retired 2018 I live in Northern California past Sacramento but not San Francisco when I'll retired from the University of California Davis I was a custodian there for 20 years . I'm so grateful I made it back to the church. Even though my dad was not Catholic he was a good man he practiced the gospel a homeless man came up to my dad after church and said I need money I am hungry My dad went the extra mile he went my dad went to the store put out that man some food my dad also went to the motel volume three or four nights so he doesn't have to sleep outside in the cold because of that good deed I'm sure my dad will go to purgatory purgatory. Enough about my dad my wife is very good to me since I can't drive very much she orders me Uber so I can get to my doctor's appointments

One of the things I love doing is going to the men's group at the Catholic Church. But the problem is now is. I can't drive an the more because my wife took away the keys. She says I'm a dangerous driver. I've Always gotten into Hulu. Punch of the traffic gas Cui. Guess it's in and that's all for the best. But whenever I'd like for going to mass. The church has a band that picks up the sen.Your citizens that can't drive even more. And that's how I get to mass every ya sunday. So now I rely on. We have a thing that's called the character. And that's for a senior citizen. I am age 68 and I am joy being retired. I made it to go to my Doctor's appointment.Dentist appointment and going to church

I’m guessing some good Catholic boys were broken hearted when you said no to marriage. I hope my son when he’s old enough to date meet a girl like you on fire for the faith. He is going to be 14 soon and loves God and is attracted to some girls at hogs Catholic school. We’re in no hurry for it but wonder if you think a certain age sooner than 18 we should be open to it.
