    Thanks BIG TIME for this series. I've been using the a different recording apps for about 10 years and unfortunately they stopped development years ago. It's long in the tooth. Have heard great things about Reaper so decided to give it a try. Your series has helped me come up to speed fast. I'm blown away by Reaper. Thanks for the GREAT. Instruction. You Da-Man!!!!

    Excellent Adam, very useful. Using cloud services these days should be mandatory. Onedrive is included in Windows and icloud in MacOs. I always record/work on these drives and keep my work avaliable on all my machines - which in fact is older Lenovo pc`s and mac`s in 2012 range (pre retina) affordable and expandble machines.

      No, no and thrice no. Cloud is convenient, to be sure but I do not trust the entities that host cloud services. And if the internet goes away - so does all your data ....

    Great video, Adam. Thank you. One thing I feel I might find awkward when selecting the secondary recording path, is remembering to add this on a track by track basis. Personally, I feel it would be far more useful to have it defaulted for any new track selected, without me having to make that individual track selection. There is bound to come a time when I would forget to do this.

    Thank you very much for all your videos about Reaper.
    Priceless, and extremely valuable.
    But that's a detail I couldn't find. Nobody seems to know how to keep so quantization as DEFAULT.
    I mean, I don't know how to keep a specific quantization set up by default.
    Do you know how to do that?

    If you don't want to be at the mercy of cloud storage price hikes, or you're worried about privacy, think seriously about a NAS unit. For super-safety you can get two, have one at another location (round at your Mum's, for example) and backup between them. Safety if your gaff burns down (and your Mum's doesn't)!

    Thanks so much! Great videos! I have a question: What would be a good setup for using Reaper as a live mixer during events let's say? Is something like that possible at all? Like for example, if we got 8 mic inputs, 6 instrument inputs through DI boxes, maybe 4 monitor speakers, 1 headset monitor; and if all of those needs to be mixed together and output to number of speakers for audience, as well as recorded in the same time. What kind of equipment would work with Reaper in such cases?

    Hay adam as asked before what about a youtube karaoke recording tutorial .
    because all others are on the dan audacity :)
    We can be rest assured many guys out there with a mic and reaper would love to create a decent recording of their sing along .
    ps you did not cover export reaper settings
    because we can then take it to a friend and bring our project on the road,meaning reaper setting zipped up .
    Warmly Brother j
    appreciate your time .
    looking forward to your reply
    and teaching style although sometimes you run away on me , thank god for pause .

    Unfortunately, I have to reinstall Reaper, because something changed on scanning VST, VST3 plugins, so I install them the right way, and Reaper doesn't find the plugins, very annoying.
    So it's time to reinstall, maybe it also set settings the right way. I'm looking for a solution for backing up SWS extensions definition file(s) too. Because configuring the SWS commands is a big job. First time in 6 years I have to do this. With ProTools pretty much every year.

    • @adamsteelproducer
      @adamsteelproducer  Год назад

      You don’t have to reinstall reaper, just add more folders to the vst path list. Usually this issue comes up where some plugins default to “vstplugins” folders but some are set to go to “steinberg” folders.
      You should be able to back up the entire config file including everything from the general settings

    I feel like external hard drives were applicable for 5 years ago..... glade you mentioned online solutions!
    Nowadays you can get google drive 1tb for $1.99 a month, and even cheaper if you are using a business account for anything.
    Someone can keep 5 external drive in different buildings, I'll have one google drive. Thanks. ;)
    I set it up so that anytime i put files into a specific location on my computer, it it automatically uploads them to google drive.
    Booyah.

    In Reaper how do I line audio tracks up after dropping them in from another computer, I have tried to do this but without much luck, I purchased Reaper last week for a new computer, I have all the audio from my old XP machine stored on which I used Logic audio platinum, I know real old hat but it worked for me for years.

    Is there an option to save those separate samples just when you exit reaper or save separately? I am getting annoyed of all the millions of samples after one relatively short mixing experiment session. I get the point of them but I'm in so beginning that the quality is not something so sacred that I need every possible sample version. Just the one I quit mixing at. Can't seem to find anywhere, if that exists.

    I accidentally unplugged my computer and corrupted my files on reaper. I did save it on a USB stick. How do I recover them? We'll you make a video showing how? Love your show!

    • @adamsteelproducer
      @adamsteelproducer  4 года назад

      That sucks but there’s no easy way. Did your entire drive die? You might be able to use recovery software to get most of it back, and there should be a backup reaper project file as well so you’ve got 2 chances to get your work back

    Hi Adam, I wonder if you can help. I'm tearing my hair out and am almost in tears (almost) Reaper has started just playing through my left speaker. Spotify plays fine on both. I was watching this vid and doing the stuff to organise the back ups ( I don't think that's related ) but have I done something else without realising? Using a behringer umc 1820. I would be very grateful for and help/advice. Pete from Auchtermuchty Fife.

      @@adamsteelproducer I recently purchased ssd 5 and it advised not to install through cloud services. So if I set reaper up to save to cloud as per your tutorial the will the plug in work should it need to be recalled?

    • @adamsteelproducer
      @adamsteelproducer  4 года назад

      I think you’re confusing two terms. I’m not “saving to the cloud” in the traditional sense, I’m just saving my files in a Dropbox which get copied online. It works fine for me on two machines, I just have SSD installed on both, and move my ilok between my studio pc and laptop as needed. No issues.

    Is there not a way to default set all tracks to primary/secondary invisible backups rather than having to set it up on each project?

    Doesnt it save every steps without clicking the save icon?

    • @adamsteelproducer
      @adamsteelproducer  2 года назад

      No DAW does this, they keep an undo set but that doesn’t save over the project file, this could lead to disaster if that was the case

    • @badalhalder1058
      @badalhalder1058 2 года назад

      @@adamsteelproducer But in reaper, I need to click the save icon every time I do someething new. But in other daws, once if I save the project, it automatically remember wthat I have done to that.
