Mudlarking with Nicola White &

Join me as I go to Keighley in Yorkshire to meet up with Tom Burleigh, an artist and Mudlark. Tom takes me to the River Aire where we search for treasures on the banks of the River. It is particularly muddy as it rains more and more throughout the day! We discover treasures from the past lost or discarded at the beginning of the 20th century. Tom also tells me about the legend of East Riddlesden Hall, and the reason why the River Aire is constantly trying to escape from it and its notorious17th century occupants. As usual, there are so many stories behind simple objects which the river throws out. We find bottles, pipes, stoppers, old toys, shoes and ornaments, and it's hard not to spend time imagining where they came from before they ended up in the mud of the Banks of the River Aire!
