I grew up outside of the Deep South in Kansas (Topeka and suburban Kansas City). I've also lived in Saint Louis, Missouri, and Terre Haute, Indiana. Today, I live in Huntsville, Alabama. I can, therefore, testify that racism is not only in the South. Fortunately, many loving people live in both the North and the South.
The midwestern rust belt is home to some of the most racist places because mostly due to lack of diversity and economic disenfranchisement due to the de industrialization of the region decades ago and the history of blacks and other white ethnic groups clashing for the factory jobs . What pours fuel on the fire is that most of those jobs are not there anymore and there is competition for what little bit is left and it’s not a pretty picture. Pennsylvania Ohio, Michigan, Indiana absolutely belongs in the top 10. It’s all about economics in places that most people are down and out are not going to have good race relations.
@@johndooley661 Really sad that America is so racist in general. Black and White, both American. Both have a history here, and both have the same religion and beliefs. People need to wake up.
I was very surprised South Dakota was not on the list. I have never met anyone white from South Dakota who wasn't racist, particularly towards the Sioux Nation, but also towards African Americans and Hispanics.

However, I do remember reading a few years back that in a study of web searches, South Dakota had the highest percentage of racial slurs in their searches. But, I can't site the source, just a vague memory. Another thing to consider is that the South Dakota legislature required in 2016 all Voters to have an address with a Street Number and Name. The Sioux Reservation doesn't have Street Addresses. THey blocked a huge percentage of Sioux people from voting. Clearly an example of racist laws implemented by white South Dakotan governance. In my opinion, other than Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia Indiana Pennsylvania is the most racist region in the country. It has a lot to do with it being a rust belt region and the history of segregation is in the dna of the bigger cities and the economy is poor due to de industrialization. Competition between black and white ethnic groups for factory jobs was not just rivalry but opposition. With most of those jobs gone and many people stuck in the same place, That sentiment hasn’t changed at all and may be more pronounced because of the scarcity of industrial work . Places that are down and out have limited opportunities are not going to have good race relations period.
This may come as a surprise to many but I'm surprised Oregon is not on this list. It is the only state that actually had a written law the prohibited Blacks from moving there.

There is racism among Latinos/Hispanos living in the U.S. too. Hispanics live segregated in the U.S. because they hail from different countries, nationalities and customs. the Deep South is the most racist region in the United States. it is where the Jim-crow laws were created which made whites and blacks live segregated.

Louisiana has some of the most diverse cultures in the country. Several states are more racist
Well, could you explain it with references?
New Orleans, the French quarter. Voodoo religion and magic. Hunting and fishing culture. Riverboats gambling. Music blues, jazz, and rock 'n' roll. And on the bad side KKK and racial tension left over from civil war.
I think the point is, as long as you stay in your lane, there will be no problems
New Orleans is very liberal and welcoming, largely Democratic. The rest of the state, however, still seems to have its problems.
