Thanks to this video, I discovered an amazing bug that affected the North American Gamecube version of Prime that caused the track of the Flahgaraa fight to loop after 30 seconds. The actual theme has this awesome synthesized-voice movement later on that's awesome and I NEVER ONCE heard it before! Thank you, The Outsyder!
I'm in shock too, seeing as this just popped up. RUclips actually wants me to watch this guy blunder through shit, especially things I enjoy. God can't help us now...
+AmephEst To be fair, he did rage quit on Dark Souls 1, back before he used to stream. He got stuck in Blighttown and only continued after he strted streaming. He technically never beat the game because from that point onwards it was mostly him summoning fans to drop gear for him and play the game while he sat around and read the stream chat.
One of the best moments I've ever seen in a TIHYDP @ 47:37: "Scan this enemy to find its weak spot." DSP: "Why, I'm shooting the face!" The ignorance of basic game mechanics is astounding...
I beat this game when I was 12 on the gamecube...then again when I was 20 with the trilogy. How does it take him that long to activate the scan visor? 🤦♂️
You know what, I think he's done it...Phil has broken me. He's failed at Super Mario Bros. 3 and World in so many ways, he basically turned Majora's Mask into the Bermuda Triangle in terms of figuring out what to do, and now he's done this to Metroid Prime...a game that literally gives you something from the start that tells you how to DO THINGS, and still fails.. My childhood has been raped. It wants to press charges against this piece of shit excuse for flesh and DNA...great TIHYDP, by the way, Outsyder.
As a Metroid veteran who has played most of the games in the series this video both pains me and delights me. The sheer stupidity this man child possesses never ceases to amaze me. Excellent work on editing and such 0utsider. And thank you for doing what most of us can't stomach doing.
Quick question, my fellow Metroid mate, what are your opinions on the Metroid Prime Trilogy? Both as a whole and as separate games? Just call me curious as I do have both good and bad opinions over the three games, 2 unfortunately getting the most negativity from me (still a good game regardless; better than Other M by a longshot).
The Dark Zoroark Personally I love the original and the 2nd game. Though 2 annoyed me at certain points it's still a solid game. 3 wasn't my thing. I don't like the narrative approach to the series. Metroid was never about the narrative it was always about that sense of exploration and wonder. That awesome feeling when you find a well hidden power up or figure out how to beat an enemy or boss whose been kicking your ass. As for Other M lets not talk about that.
***** You can tell he's not interested in what he's playing at all. He treats the game more like a shooter than what it really is. And of course Phil is just friggin' lazy. Unless the game does it for him or stream chat jumps up and down about it he's not going to do it. I think I hit 70-80% my first time through the original Prime. Think I hit about 90% on my first trip through Prime 2. Both without guides.
I don't mind the narrative approach on 3. At the very least it never went the Other M route. Nice and simple. And brief too. In fact, there's hardly any dialogue at all. There's the beginning up to Norion, the brief sections with Aurora Unit to explain the missions, and ending parts with Phaaze that seem very narrative heavy. The rest is just flavor text. Its pretty much 85% action. So yeah, 3 is alright to me. I thought 2 was a tad bullshit with the beam ammo system. I'll grant it that's Luminoth technology, but still. And I love the beam weapons too. They are so good. Oh yeah, and the Grenchler's bullshit bite attack's hitbox. Ugh... It feels like you can never dodge them at all when they do their bite. Dark Beam + Missile doesn't help either... Other than that, 2 is pretty good too. 1 is the only one I have no problems with. Its fun, challenging, and its Metroid every step of the way.
***** Sometimes when I'm playing these games I forget Samus's gender. It happens even now, despite Zero Suit Samus (but I don't think much about Brawl or Other M or whatever oversexualizes Samus).
+Knight Artorias Because Samus is usually heavily armored and has a vast array of weaponry. You really hardly ever see her in game without her mask on let alone her armor so sometimes players forget they are even controlling a girl.

Ya know, with Flaahgra, I might not have even bothered scanning this boss. Being a veteran gamer, I would've immediately noticed in the opening cutscene the game's obvious emphasis on the mirrors, and shortly after seeing my shots do nothing to the boss investigated them. It wouldn't take long to see what you need to do if you know anything about plants at all. The game even has a cutscene for when you first disable the mirrors where you need to go next. At least with this boss, it's obvious from the get go what you need to do just by paying attention.
oh boy... if he thinks Flaahgra is a hard boss he's gonna throw his controller through his sceen and eat his couch pillows when he runs into the Omega Space Pirate

I find it kind of counterproductive that the lowest of all casual based scrubs that cannot even play a freaking CoD game correctly is playing a game that is basically putting you in a super massive interconnecting dungeon where the main focus is getting upgrades to get through it and solve it's many puzzles and defeat it's many bosses. These games are like Zelda games on steroids. Like if the whole Zelda game was one big dungeon that you had to get through that takes up the entire game. If he is struggling playing Zelda games then why on earth would he think that it's a good idea to play these games. He is only causing more pain for himself.

I actually really like this moment at 42:13 where he just gives something a shot to see if it would work, and it's exactly what he needed. So many modern gamers are spoiled by pointless tutorials telling you exactly what you need to do and slowly explaining how to do it, so most kids now-a-days probably wouldn't have tried that because the game didn't explicitly tell you to do it. I was thinking to my self "Why not try scanning it and get some information on it." but then he just tried figuring something out, like a normal person; AND IT WORKED OUT!
Firstly, > Watching in 2017 Secondly: "The original Metroid didn't need "runic symbols." what kind of criticism is that? It was a fucking NES game m8, there weren't enough bits to make distinct "runic symbols" for puzzles. What's he got against runes, anyway? They never hurt him :(
In a way, I want him to use his logic (greed) and take advantage of the Remaster's hype to play Metroid Prime 2. It would be hilarious and a TIHYDP gold mine (Prime 2 is significantly harder than Prime 1).
Wow, he ragequit this too? This game is already fucking easy, and he's playing the baby mode trilogy version, where the gamecube version's normal difficulty is the hard mode.
The 0utsyder pff, "only". No deaths on normal for my first playthrough, let alone 100% most of the items without a guide (only needed it on about 6 pickups) and 97% logbook.
TheArceusftw At least not for this game, I think some games work with it (Like Majora's Mask on the VC I THINK) but Metroid Prime Trilogy (both the Wii and WiiU versions) does NOT use GCN controls AT ALL. Only Wiimote and Nunchuk as part of the re-releasing of gamecube classics with wii controls.
Alright, I got to see the whole thing. thank you 0utsyder for such a SPEEDY TIHYDP video of such a ... ... sizable length for viewership ^_^; ... I really actually legitimately wonder... how you got the time to rush this so fast, and with some simple-but-effective edits to point out stuff Phil fucks up, even for Metroid noobs like me to understand in relatively-easy explanations.
How can he be this bad on Easy Mode? I played this on GC when I was 14(?) on Normal Mode and didn't have half of the problems he's been facing. Also, he can't blame the controls. They are tight and responsive. I've learned firsthand that any mistakes in platforming or navigating are the player's.
iamxeracon I was 8 when I played this. I only went up to the Phendrana Drifts when you have to shoot up the statues heads to reveal a bomb slot to open a door. As a kid who didn't like reading and wanna shoot shoot shoot, I got stuck there for eternity.
I had a fucking meltdown right off the bat. I went into this video completely unprepared, and did a fucking *acrobatic pirouette* off the handle. But now that I'm calmed down, I'd like to seek marital counseling with the handle.
Holy shit, you work fast. You've already got this out? It's only a few days old! Honestly, considering how fast you made this, it's pretty decent. I try to look for something that's not terrible in all of these playthroughs, and the one thing that I can find is that it can't possibly look as bad as Rijno's Metroid Prime 3 videos.
Excellent work their Mr. Bond these videos are very educational and informative in explaining why nobody should ever waste their time or money in subscribing to this cruddy let's player who only cares about money and not the quality of his content or his viewers.
3:48 in and I already want to punch Phil in the face. This is gonna be painful. (+1 to the "Fuck You, Phil!" counter) 4:53 What, you don't consider the entirety of his LP a massive failure? Not sure how you're gonna categorize that. Wow, here in the cut down version he took 20 MINUTES to get through the Orpheon. Fail. 21:20 DSP: "Do they ever explain what Ridley is?" Oh, what you mean besides every 3D Metroid game AND Super Metroid? 31:42 Really, Phil? "A big red ass"? Did you fail Biology 101? Actually, nix that, did you even TAKE Biology 101? 35:12 (click) *This video has been added to Liked Videos* 40:00 +1 to the "Fuck You, Phil!" counter 46:22 DSP: "Whoa! A bug!" I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry 59:04 It took Phil 13 minutes, 2 seconds to defeat Flaahgra, with help. Slowrun WR? 1:04:15 It occurs to me that if Phil bothered to get rigorous training in the art, he might be a decent singer. He never will because he's a conceited ass, but everyone has some sort of natural talent, whether deserved or as in this case, undeserved. 1:04:34 DSP: "Haha, he fell!" He? Do you mean Samus you mental defective? The character which was introduced to you in this very game's opening as a woman? WTF. 1:08:09 *Facepalm* 1:08:19 Okay, this is gonna seem nitpicky to some people, but what DSP just said is soooo stuuuupiiiiid. A rutabaga is a large purple and yellow turnip, typically (roughly) spherical in shape with a waxy surface. Think of it as an edible purple and yellow Pokeball. Whatever enemy just skittered across the ground there looks nothing like a fucking rutabaga (my apologies for this ramble, I work in a grocer's and have to explain the differences between vegetables to people a lot). 1:12:18 DSP: "Rolls right off the platform!" AND WHO'S DIRECTING THE GAME INPUTS? HMM? 1:22:03 "The Charge Rope", Phil? Do you mean the Grapple Beam? That important powerup that's been in every Metroid title since Super Metroid? Do you have the brain of a goldfish, Phil? 1:23:57 Impatience+Incompetence+Stupidity=DarkSydePhil 1:25:29 +1 to the "Fuck You, Phil!" counter 1:27:42 *Insert Jeopardy! theme song here* 1:35:41 SHE you thick-headed simpleton! 1:40:48 Yeah, this game does seem to be above your head, Phil. Oh, wait, he meant the door. Eh, either one works. 1:45:12 Shut up, Phil. 1:55:13 I am ashamed to hear Phil make a B-52s reference. He probably doesn't even know it's the B52s, he probably saw it on fucking Family Guy. 1:58:12 It's called a SNOW STORM YOU IRRETRIEVABLE IDIOT! DUMBASS. *2:00:00**~~~~~The magical influence of stream chat begins~~~~~~* 2:01:30 DSP: "I forgot to jump!" Wow, for once he's being honest. 2:03:09 The word is DEsynced Phil, not UNsynced. Nice to see Biology isn't your only area of incredible ignorance. 2:09:51 Phil doesn't know what "concussive" means, apparently. I am both surprised and unsurprised by this considering that Phil has played numerous games which had explosive weapons and Phil has no short-term memory and laughably bad reasoning skills. 2:19:01-2:19:04 I guarantee you chat told him to do that. 2:19:10 Took ya long enough to remember that very basic plot point. Phil, you're such a drooling hydrocephalus. 2:19:29 If the music is so nice Phil then why don't you stop singing over it? It'll increase the entertainment value of your videos greatly, I assure you. 2:28:30 *Insert bugged jumping mechanics here* 2:30:00 *snaps fingers next to Phil's ear* C'mon buddy, focus on the game, not on your lunch. 2:49:46 Congratulations, you actually got me to laugh at a joke in a DSP related video. 2:51:48 Figures Phil would memorize the lines of the shittiest Batman movie ever made. 2:54:10 Gunpei Yokoi must've drilled his way to the center of the Earth by now. 3:04:45 He took 45 MINUTES to get THAT far into the Phazon Mines?!? WHAT? HOW THE HELL DID HE TAKE THAT LONG? Good ending to a great riff on DSP. Of course, riffing on DSP is riffing on Easy Mode so maybe I'll wait for after I see the next part to judge your skills in informative mockery. Still more than deserving of the like I gave it, though.
You know what? I always wanted to see a this is how you don't play The Conduit 2. Idk if that'll ever happen, but if it does, I'll be there to see it, I've heard such great things about it.
I'm amazed by how much this man has managed to make it through on dumb luck. It's truely amazing. Also, you can get around a relatively small missile count by killing puffers when you're ascending the tower.
You know that you suck as a Let's Player when the person mocking you does a way better job informing you about the game then they do. Seriously Outsyder, I learned a hell of a lot reading your text, and I can't wait to finally get my hands on the Prime Trilogy.
DSP Logic: I have the Varia Suit so I can survive extreme temperatures so maybe I can go into the lava. Me: NO THAT'S THE GRAVITY SUIT YOU IDIOT!! DSP: (starts burning to death in lava) Me: Told you.
There is nothing wrong with the Wiimote, DarkSydeBaby. I have never had a single issue with it, unless there was dust on one of the sensors, which is entirely the users fault for not cleaning their stuff.
Would.... Would he actually be better on a higher difficulty? Most normal people would be incentivized to find the optimal way to kill hard hitting enemies as soon as possible. He might just learn to charge his shots, scan, lock on just through brute force trial and error. Then again, even a bull in a China shop is smart enough to not wildly break inanimate objects.
I remember his rant about views on his Earthbound playthrough... He kept saying people don't give old game a chance... Look what he's doing on this game, always criticizing the graphics... (probably because it's a Nintendo game)
+GameDjeenie Another problem is that he is comparing them to what our machines are capable of now. Of course Metroid Prime will look dated by today's standards, the game is nearly 14 years old. Besides, we also should look at the indie games we have today. Few are 3D and the ones that are are primitive looking, and the rest are 2D.
not bad at all? this game was revolutionary in almost every way, graphics being one. this game truly pushes the gamecubes hardware to its absolute limit, the only compromise being texture quality, and then only if you look VERY closely.
Wow, played this on GCN, Wii, and currently on Wii u, love it and always play through it when I have time. I never Flaahgra could knock down those lights lol.
Best explanation I can think of for DSP not bothering to strafe is because...he might find that disorienting? Dunno. Thinking about it, this game's really easy if you get used to the game mechanics, but then doing so is a bit of an obstacle. Of course I've gotten used to it (having beaten this game four times), but still.
That being said, I'm at the 2 hour 53 minute mark, and DSP seems to be a lot nicer here than he was during, say, his Metal Gear Solid playthrough. Probably because he's not getting as much criticism (due more to low views than anything), but he also seems at least slightly more sane in his Crash 2 playthrough as well. Dare I ask: might DSP be, perhaps subconsciously, improving?
Watching this makes me want to start my LP of Metroid Prime sooner rather than later...But i gotta wait til my replacement Elgato comes in. Damn it DSP, why did you touch this game?
In fairness about the scanning, I was the same way when I first played Prime 3 (which was my first Metroid game lol). But then again I was 12 at the time. Far different from DSP being 33!
Definitely glad you did the comments explaining what he did wrong? It's hard for me to enjoy a TIHYDP if I don't know, or can't figure that out. Never played this game but common sense dictates that you Scan EVERYTHING!
19silver95 Unfortunately it is. Like when he played Devil May Cry and spent fifteen episodes not using the sword on anything but bosses. It was a nightmare.
"I have the Varia Suit now!"
*gleefully jumps into lava*
Heat resistance = Ya, Imma gonna jump in some lava and go swimming! in DSP's world.
I legit rewatch this from time to time. I love both the commentary and the editing. The let's teach bits were great too. Well done :)

Amazing that he could BS his way through Dark Souls and Bloodborne and yet, he gives up on Metriod Prime, a rather easy game.

In a way, I want him to use his logic (greed) and take advantage of the Remaster's hype to play Metroid Prime 2. It would be hilarious and a TIHYDP gold mine (Prime 2 is significantly harder than Prime 1).
Wow, he ragequit this too? This game is already fucking easy, and he's playing the baby mode trilogy version, where the gamecube version's normal difficulty is the hard mode.
i know i still HAVE the gamecube version. X-D
really? I've only played Gamecube so I didn't know about changes on the Wii. I beat the game on hard multiple times without even knowing.
"Yep, I should be ok." *jumps into lava and nearly dies*
Did you edit out any deaths? I'm amazed if he survived for so long.
+Prince Daniel No, he only died 3 or 4 times because of how easy the game is on normal
The 0utsyder pff, "only".
No deaths on normal for my first playthrough, let alone 100% most of the items without a guide (only needed it on about 6 pickups) and 97% logbook.
I loved the intro and the video!! Keep up the good work.
I am not looking forward to him playing the Remaster lol
Where's the intro from? I like it!
4:10 Furthermore, The GameCube controller adapter wasn't patched to work with Wii mode on the Wii U right?
TheArceusftw At least not for this game, I think some games work with it (Like Majora's Mask on the VC I THINK) but Metroid Prime Trilogy (both the Wii and WiiU versions) does NOT use GCN controls AT ALL. Only Wiimote and Nunchuk as part of the re-releasing of gamecube classics with wii controls.
The 0utsyder Good to know.
The 0utsyder if he ever goes back to this game and finishes it i wonder how he'll do with 2 sense its harder even on easy.
power rangers123 I think 2 was nerfed in this version, because i heard somewhere that its' difficulty was one of the reasons this was even made.
Rapclone true but i can still see him blow through the ammo of the beams and blame the game for it.
the Flaahgra fight. Oh my fucking God.
It kills me that he looks up then holds minus and not just hold minus and move the Wiimote afterwards to open the scan visor
WHY DID HE STOP USING THE CHARGE BEAM AFTER THE FIRST PANEL FLIP AGAINST FLAAGHRA?
what intro was that from. it looks like a james bond intro but i dont know.
+robanator64 The Game is 007:Blood Stone, the intro is called I'll Take It All
thanks
How can he be this bad on Easy Mode? I played this on GC when I was 14(?) on Normal Mode and didn't have half of the problems he's been facing. Also, he can't blame the controls. They are tight and responsive. I've learned firsthand that any mistakes in platforming or navigating are the player's.
iamxeracon I was 8 when I played this. I only went up to the Phendrana Drifts when you have to shoot up the statues heads to reveal a bomb slot to open a door. As a kid who didn't like reading and wanna shoot shoot shoot, I got stuck there for eternity.
Great editing. Love the opening music. Might I suggest a TIHYDP of his wolfenstein the new world order
Philly Boys commentary is just so riveting.
Excellent work their Mr. Bond these videos are very educational and informative in explaining why nobody should ever waste their time or money in subscribing to this cruddy let's player who only cares about money and not the quality of his content or his viewers.
When DSP was just using his normal beam on the Beam Troopers I was shouting at him to use his Super Missiles, and felt like Adam Malkovich. Ugh.
I'm about halfway into the Flaahgra fight and holy shit, does Phil just not understand the concept of charging your shots?
I feel bad not finishing this game. I got stuck after the Thardus fight, and I got lost. I really wish I could go back to it somehow and finish it :(
Did he have some weird aversion to scanning enemies?
He's got a weird aversion to learning and getting immersed.
Name of song at the beginning?
ruclips.net/video/UTNh8lmfcJE/видео.html
007 Blood Stone Theme
thanks
For as much as Phil loves jumping into lava, he's surprisingly stiff when it comes to jumping over enemy fire.
I call bull on him magically figuring out the bombs worked on the Sheegoth, 100% streamchat XD
3:48 in and I already want to punch Phil in the face. This is gonna be painful. (+1 to the "Fuck You, Phil!" counter)
4:53 What, you don't consider the entirety of his LP a massive failure? Not sure how you're gonna categorize that.
Wow, here in the cut down version he took 20 MINUTES to get through the Orpheon. Fail.
21:20 DSP: "Do they ever explain what Ridley is?" Oh, what you mean besides every 3D Metroid game AND Super Metroid?
31:42 Really, Phil? "A big red ass"? Did you fail Biology 101? Actually, nix that, did you even TAKE Biology 101?
35:12 (click) *This video has been added to Liked Videos*
40:00 +1 to the "Fuck You, Phil!" counter
46:22 DSP: "Whoa! A bug!" I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry
59:04 It took Phil 13 minutes, 2 seconds to defeat Flaahgra, with help.
WTF.
1:08:09 *Facepalm*
1:08:19 Okay, this is gonna seem nitpicky to some people, but what DSP just said is soooo stuuuupiiiiid.
1:23:57 Impatience+Incompetence+Stupidity=DarkSydePhil
1:25:29 +1 to the "Fuck You, Phil!" counter
1:27:42 *Insert Jeopardy! theme song here*
1:35:41 SHE you thick-headed simpleton!
DUMBASS.
*2:00:00**~~~~~The magical influence of stream chat begins~~~~~~*
2:01:30 DSP: "I forgot to jump!" Wow, for once he's being honest.
2:28:30 *Insert bugged jumping mechanics here*
2:30:00 *snaps fingers next to Phil's ear* C'mon buddy, focus on the game, not on your lunch.
When he dove headfirst into the lava...that without a doubt was the stupidest, most brain dead decision I've ever seen someone make.
1:17:50 pretty much sums up all his video game experiences
My favourite moment of part one is 3:04:04. BENDEZIUM!!! You can just taste the salt.
This really is the perfect game for Phil. It has a built-in hint system that tells you exactly where to go if you fuck around for too long.
Best intros ever and what is the intros came from
Zelos Wilder The Intro is from the video game "007: Blood Stone" by Activision in 2010. The Name of the song is "I'll Take It All"
You know what? I always wanted to see a this is how you don't play The Conduit 2. Idk if that'll ever happen, but if it does, I'll be there to see it, I've heard such great things about it.
Garrett Pierson That has potential XD, I'll add it to the list.
6:00 - well, that's a good sign, when he acknowledges right away that chat is helping him (/sarcasm mode)
6:19 & 22:03 - ah, fuck you. :P
+GameDjeenie but... but, isn't earthbound for Nintendo?
esoop the derp
Yeah, but it's a more recent game than EB,,, and we all know he worship actual Nintendo lmao
+GameDjeenie
Another problem is that he is comparing them to what our machines are capable of now. Of course Metroid Prime will look dated by today's standards, the game is nearly 14 years old.
Besides, we also should look at the indie games we have today. Few are 3D and the ones that are are primitive looking, and the rest are 2D.
*****
Indeed. For a game console that came out in 2001, it's not bad at all.
not bad at all? this game was revolutionary in almost every way, graphics being one. this game truly pushes the gamecubes hardware to its absolute limit, the only compromise being texture quality, and then only if you look VERY closely.
Wow, played this on GCN, Wii, and currently on Wii u, love it and always play through it when I have time. I never Flaahgra could knock down those lights lol.
the opening was amazing
I tried to make a clever comment on Phil's stupidity, but it dropped my input.
I can't help but feel that the Metroid series has been defiled after DSP's playthrough.
It would have been cool if at some point you edited in a clip from the original Terminator of Sarah Connor saying "on your feet, soldier!".
I love how he never presses A in order to read more of the stuff he scans xD
in-game help system? that sounds a lot like the codec in MGS, and we all know how often he used that.
I made it to the Elite part and I can't believe even then he still hasn't learned to scan new enemies
27:32 Not sure if Phil even understands what seismic activity is, but I'll wager that he'll complain about it having bugged mechanics.
Watching this makes me want to start my LP of Metroid Prime sooner rather than later...But i gotta wait til my replacement Elgato comes in.
Damn it DSP, why did you touch this game?
"Press down on the D-pad to fire missiles."
*fires one*
"Hey, now I only have 14,what gives??"
For Phil, Metroid Prime Scan Visor = Metal Gear Solid Codec...pitiful..
I don't think I've ever seen such a blatant disregard for the Scan Visor, noticing when an enemy is absorbing shots, and health.
so hold on, veteran is the normal mode in the GCN version?
Yes, they added normal mode in the trilogy to make it easier i guess.
The 0utsyder no wonder he did better than me.
The 0utsyder also Nintendo needs to stop calsualizing there games
+Lerna Derkinks ya like majora
+Aplombernulp I see your point but what their doing is similar to making dark souls easier
In fairness about the scanning, I was the same way when I first played Prime 3 (which was my first Metroid game lol). But then again I was 12 at the time. Far different from DSP being 33!
DSP's done Metroid Prime...?
Ohhhhhhh fuck...
My first Gamecube game :(
We call upon your assistance again, 0utsyder! Phil apparently continued Metroid Prime. A Bugged Mechanics video told me.
Definitely glad you did the comments explaining what he did wrong? It's hard for me to enjoy a TIHYDP if I don't know, or can't figure that out. Never played this game but common sense dictates that you Scan EVERYTHING!
I...I can't even...there's like no way this can be real
19silver95 Unfortunately it is. Like when he played Devil May Cry and spent fifteen episodes not using the sword on anything but bosses. It was a nightmare.
