  • Great news, after a year of testing, "The Fix" rear brake pedal is here! You don't have to deal with the Yamaha 700 Tenere's crappy rear brake any longer!
The issue with the bike's rear brake is not swelling of the OEM rubber brake lines, it's not the compound of the brake pads, and it's also not the quality or size of the master cylinder or caliper. There are several issues with the OEM pedal, some small, some big. "The Fix" addresses all of them!
More photos and details to come as we get closer to product shipping (early November). The actual pedal will vary slightly from the photo attached here
    "The Fix" Features:
-Corrected leverage ratio reducing pedal travel by about half compared to stock
-Durable 6.4mm thick 304 stainless steel construction
-Straighter shape to reduce pedal flexing while braking
-Brass bushings to reduce slop in the pedal main pivot point
-Grippy, replaceable stainless steel brake tip
-Offset clevis to correct the master cylinder pushrod angle
    -Black powder-coated finish
    Patent Pending
100% money-back guarantee. If you still aren't happy with your T7's rear brake after installing "The Fix" send it back for a full refund, no questions asked!

We installed one of these on a personal Yamaha Tenere 700 and this finally fixed the sketchy rear brake performance. This is a great product that is well worth the cost. The videos and instructions are also great.

Very, very critical to get the brake light switch installed and oriented properly as shown in the vid, instead of effing with adjusting it for a couple hours as I did. Very strong, well made pedal, though the stock one works fine until your first minor tip over turns it into a pretzel.

Thanks for the clear instructions, and for supplying torque values and a reminder to use thread locker. Nothing goes on our bikes without thread locker.
But I have to wonder about the suggestion to use red Locktite. That stuff makes the bolt almost impossible to remove. In aluminum, there's a danger of destroying the part before the thread lock will give. Is there a reason not to use old reliable blue Locktite on that fastener?

Hi Cory, Just ordered. Just have to say, I was about to go down the rear brake fix rabbit hole - YZ450 master cylinder, infinite adjustment experimentation, braided brake lines, and all other internet-google lore to find "The Fix". Note, I had an issue where my rear brake just didn't work after riding to warm up. Peddle would get rock hard and no brake. Flushed the fluid and then the rear brake seized. Weird. After the seize, loosened the brake adjustment bolt, and felt the pressure release in the system. Now, I have a rear brake and looking forward to "The Fix" to put this issue behind me.

Be aware of these issues that can and will arise.
    A. Check your bash/skid plate. Even Camel ADV’s need to be removed. No access to the lower two frame bolts.
    B. Do not adjust the break sensing switch from factory until you have fully installed.
    C. If you have a water pump or frame guard, it will hit it until full installation. Do not adjust plastic interior/behind the plate factory break sensing switch. Only after install if needed.
    D. Do not order the “Euro” peddle, especially if you have engine or water pump protection. Order the street size.
    E. If you don’t order the “Street” peg, you will be pigeon footing/inward angle to apply rear break. You will right away make scuffs on protection or no protection on your engine case and water pump. Eventually cause damage.
    F. Stop the binding over time. 1. 20NM no more on center spring bolt as mentioned. 2. Slight “Water resistant heavy duty, not red tack grease”, heavier grease on all contact washers and bushing. The grease sent will wash out with speeds, rain, water crossing and heat. 3. Not any grease on spring. CLEAN OFF ALL EXCESS! It will attract dirt and cause return problems.
    G. Follow the torque settings, they are correct.
    E. The brake sensing spring will seem too long while installing the unit. This is the number one complaint install the complete unit, do not apply lock tight, adjust if needed, then apply lock tight and reassemble.
    F. And again, do not order the euro peg. The distance offset from your foot placement to the new unit has no relevance whatsoever to comparable bikes.
    G. G for god sake, don’t have anyone interrupt you while installing this unit and listen to the advice above and on the video also. And do not under any circumstances order the euro style foot peg, he will slip off that, even if your pigeon toed, and you better have some good protection boots when it will happen.

Hey Corey, how are you sir? I had a quick question I pre-ordered my brake fix I was I’m assuming I was one of the beginning people that got them I just now got around to putting it on and I was just curious my bushing after I took it from being wrapped in plastic the bushing is froze. It doesn’t move so that when I tighten it Into the housing that holds the foot peg if I put any type of tightness on it, it doesn’t allow it to spin. I know it’s something I’m overlooking. I have pretty much brought every product that you have and I know the quality is top notch, so I was just wondering for some insight.

Hi Camel Team (the sticker inside the box make me laught). Got my "Fix", installation is very easy but I have an issue with the brake light switch spring. The factory one looks way too long to be set up on the Fix. Even if I set up the maximum lenght with the small tab, the spring will not be tight (after unscrewed to the maximum the plastic bolt on the switch itself). 4 to 5mm will be needed to switch on the brake light, way too much. Didn't get any spring on the box, should there be one inside the box or did I miss something? Thanks

    • @mxonutube
      @mxonutube Год назад +1

To myself : give you one try, damn it! Don't focus on this spring before installing everything. The pre-tensionning of the master cylinder on the lever will be far enough to tight the spring. But unscrew as far as you can the plastic nut on the switch. Camel Crew member sticker on the bike, go for a ride ! (The Tenere without a rear brake was already amazing but now .... 🤘)

I just sat down to install my “Fix” and realized that the potential issue with OEM center stand. I went ahead and removed the two bolts on center stand from the right side and surprisingly, there was enough play in the mounting of the stand to lower and rotate slightly so I could remove brake lever without completely removing center stand. I would have, but the bolts on left side, especially one bolted from inside would have been a
b%tch. Worked out fine and actually install took less time than anticipated. Thanks Cory!!!!
