    This is the absolute best 5th gen oil change video that I have seen. Please do other videos! Transmission fluid change would be awesome!

      Yeah, this is the first 4 runner oil change where they didn’t want to switch out the plastic filter housing. Great video.

    Thanks for the Fab Tutorial. I found it easier to just remove that plastic splash guard on the front. 3 screws and it was much easier to install skid plate. Also, my plate would not remove unless I removed it. No amount of pushing it forward was going to unlatch it. That plastic guard was just in the way.
    Lastly, it took a 3' breaker bar to get my filter cartridge loose. That convinced me ti never take it to a dealer again.

    Just the steps and the facts, no unnecessary fluff to lengthen the video. Please do more 4runner videos. Diff fluid, radiator flush, trans fluid:)

    Recently purchased a 2012 SR5 and changed mine for the first time yesterday. Wasn’t too difficult except that I could not remove the skid plate completely so I just left it hanging and had to struggle to get to the filter from the behind the passenger side tire area. I was dreading the potential that the filter would be overnighted but it wasn’t so no issue there. I did notice that there wasn’t a washer on the drain plug of the oil pan so I added a blue nylon washer to be on the safe side. I 100% agree about the difficulty of checking the dip stick. It was already difficult with used oil (around 2k miles on what I changed) but was almost impossible to tell with fresh oil. I finished a little after dark and like you, I had to recheck this morning.
    Maybe I’ll have better luck with the skid plate next time. I plan to do it again in 2k miles as this was just to flush the oil that was in it when I purchased it since I wasn’t sure what the dealer was running in it. I had just enough Kirkland oil to use for this change but plan to go to Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage since I’m at 108k miles. At 110k my plan is to change every 5k so the nice round numbers will help remind me.😊

    Good video. One thing to note: the special nipple adapter that drains the filter cartridge will remove the small o-ring automatically when you remove the nipple.

    • @Thankyou_3
      @Thankyou_3 24 дня назад

      But if you take the small oring out first, the plastic nipple will snap easily.

    Baxter adapter, after market skid plate and Fumoto valve. The factory design is overly complicated and the plastic filter housing will crack when over torqued by the dealership. Do yourself a favor.

    On my ‘22 TRD Off Road I removed the plastic part between the skid plate and the bumper cover. Without doing this I could not see the holes that the hinge tabs fit into. Watching many videos, there are many different skid plate configurations.

    Best ever! I came here just to see how you removed the skid plate! Mine is problematic to remove and I've been doing the oil changes with the plate dropped down hanging. It's not fun removing the oil filter housing with the plate in the way!

    just a little heads up but what you're calling the oil ratchet wrench is actually a breaker bar and it meant to break bolts that are torqued high like tire lugnuts. i don't suggest using it to tighten a nut or bolt but using a torque wrench or a regular ratchet.

    Did you remove the air dam in front prior? My 23 Limited has the air dam that makes removing the push clip a pain. The push clip is under the air dam but your video doesnt show it. Is it an exclusive thing for just limiteds?

    • @mtnslyr
      @mtnslyr 10 месяцев назад

      Yes, it is limited exclusive also sr5 sports. They both have front bumpers that drop low so need air dams.
