i was hoping you were going to show the technique at your original tempo
Yeah it sounded way different, and she was going like stupid fast at the beginning
Goddamnit Neiman were you rushing or were you dragging 😵💫
Yeah same but it still sounded good, i didn't know this trick
Just use basic imagination or play it yourself

“If your 8th note grooves sound like this, play an entirely different groove at a different tempo.”
Comparing two grooves at different bpm's, totally accurate comparison 😂
Just try it bro
Bro doesn’t know how teaching works
Woman moment ☕️
ru slow
So you lack the ability to play it or use your imagination to know what it sounds like?
You give great demonstrations. I love it!
Called the molar technique
You are Correct!!!
@@rumplestillskin6157 percussion instructor 🤘🏼
moeller* but yes same thing. it really helps when playing 16th notes and faster grooves
@@juliandep988 ahh spelling thank youuuuuu
@@juliandep988 would Möller be even more accurate spelling?
Thank you for walking us through the wrist movement a lot of people don't do that
Hey I just wanted to tell you the first 8 note thing sounded like la devote from panic at the disco
And you look nice;)
Every teacher will show you a demonstration. Consider taking a lesson or two! Moeller technique will be one of your first lessons.
@@major9137I was gonna say that it sounds like Let's Kill Tonight, but I guess they have really similar drum intros.
This was one of the first things I learnt from my drum teacher, but I guess it's something that might elude self-taught drummers
I played some Drums like that the other day. They sound pretty good.
I'm not a drummer but your teaching is incredible makes me want to pick up drumming haha
Thank you
Tyyyyy❤
this kit sounds exactly like the default electric kit sounds
Nice tip!
I do something I call "rocking" where I keep the hand up but push it forward and back instead of straight up and down. So forward up, back down, over and over. Gives you that swing
Not a drummer but I program drums for music production. Probably also great the other way around to emphasise the offbeat a bit more and retain clarity in the attack on 1, 2, 3, and 4.
Sound like full time? And then switches to half time for the demonstration? I get it, but you should play the same groove to showcase the differences. It just sounds like two different patterns.
It'll help when you want to learn the Moeller technique as well
Very good
Sounds nice
God bless you Emma... I love your Spunk and Teaching Style
That word has a completely different meaning in the UK ☠️☠️
@@nerd7045 I was about to say 💀
LMAO
I'm glad y'all know the difference... I'm from Alabama, USA... 🇺🇸
Spunk is a positive word in America
@@DamianS1893Thx for clearing that up, I was like "love your WHAT?" 😂
I use a push pull technique that has the same results and when it comes to 16ths and 32s you do t get worn out.
Lmao the way you name it a freebie 😂
Sounds good
Sounds yummm.
You are describing the Moeller technique. Going for the “freebee” up stroke is exactly that. If you and your viewers don’t know what Moeller is, please check out Jojo Mayer’s instructional on hand techniques.

molar technique, been playing drums for awhile now, the wrist movement does take a little getting used to when you first try it
Then, to sound real cool, invert the accents. Play the downbeat on the top of the hat, and the up beat on the edge. This will not only make your groove sound tighter, it'll also make you and easier drummer to mix when you're playing on an acoustic kit. A heavy hand on the hi-hat while playing a snare greatly limits the sound person, or mix engineer when it comes to how they can process the snare drum.
What is that kit looks awesome
efnote look on the bass drum
Efnote mini
Electronic drums really have come a long way… this sounds & looks so so so much better than the Roland kit I had 15 years ago
The first beat is a popular 80s beat with bands like the gogos
" its dynamics, dear" 😊
The hand technique is called Molar or Push-pull. Also completely different groove and tempo in the demo?!? First groove slaps too, just gotta know when to use it.
Me sorprende el sonido del hihat al ser electrónico.
the moeller technique looks so much easier than it is. i can do it but it feels harder than playing just straight 8th notes so my wrist gets tired and its supposed to be easier and less tiring, i wanna be able to do this effortlessly but its taking too much effort.
What's the kit?
Almost expected this to turn into Dancing With Myself.
What brand is this electric drum
It is what we call "accent" and "unaccented"!...😊
yes just like mollar
1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + / • / • / • / • R R R R R R R R Make Your Grooves More Interesting ... Wow perfect what a show LOL ✨💯🔥🥁👋👋
My brain hurts from all that counting.
On that first groove, I heard Billy Idol come in behind you
So you can actually take this technique, do it with both hands and offset them to get some really fast hand-to-hand flams ;) Push-pull technique goes hard in the marching scene
Mmm its called an upstroke and keep your wrist somewhat tight but relaxed. Move your hand up with you second so you’re already on the the way up for the next tap
Jeff Porcaro 😎
one of the most important steps in learning drums! not only does it sound so much more natural, but your arms will get less tired
summin i like to do is contast grooves between having natural dynamics and the "robot-hats". shamelessly stolen from early qotsa songs 💃🥁
Guy in the back wearing a offspring shirt. More interested in that cause i already knew this trick
Ah, that thing Phil Rudd always does to give the sauce to his beat(s).
Also different bassdrum pattern
Remember kids, emphasize the beat. . . unless you're intentionally defying expectations.
Don't shank the hihat, even if it's a silly rubber one. Baseball batting your cymbals will make them sound rough, and will break them. Try playing the cowbell if you don't get what I'm saying. The cowbell wants to "ting" not "bonk".
Blinding light notes
Every single one of these videos, in the “after” groove they almost always add more kicks as well, as you did here. The whole groove was totally different? You’re doing so much more than JUST adding dynamics in your hi-hat rhythm.
It's art. Context and variety helps. No need to be so OCD to prove a point.
@@Proghead88 this is the furthest thing from art I’ve ever seen. This, is a RUclips drummer. To not know the difference is scary.
This high hat technique is to drummers as cutting an onion is to internet chefs
AMERICANA IN THE BACKGROUND!!!!
Unless you’re playing drums for the strokes then you want those tk-tk-tks identical
Gravity blasting hi hats
THIS KIT GOT HI HAT EDGE?!?!
So… just quarter note accents?!
It’s easy just to play mollar on everything once you get the technique down. And not necessarily always for the better. Sometimes it’s a better idea to just play the hats straight. And she’s clearly trying to play a stiff example to turn this into a counterpoint
I mean… AHA did it like that and still became a legendary hit.
always did this unconsciously
Plus it's far more comfortable
There’s a name for this… wish I could remember but my molars hurt
🖖
lol. she sounds like one of the metronome voices on my ekit
I mean you didn’t really play exactly what you taught but ok
Do your 8th note grooves sound like this (plays 198 bpm groove)? Now listen to it with this technique (plays 88 bpm groove). See how different it sounds? lol
I heard "take on me" by a-ha for a second
Every rhcp song
Would you mind moving to the U.S. to play in my band? We could use someone of your quality. Cheers!
Another groove is every “and” lift your foot off the pedal
2 Grooves
We’re talking away…
This is a great lesson🤔 (I play guitar 💀)
Is that another version of Matt Bellamy? Awesome technique tho 🎉
All I heard was “SWISH AND FLICK”
Moellar
Moller is a hr
If they sound like number one you're in a punk band.
we call these accents and she’s just using the muller technique
Is that an e drum kit?
Just swish and flick
That Moeller technique stuff is confusing
Dont lose the metronome or tempo 😁
She also changed her kick and snare...
Moeller technique
That’s called a buck. And, Charlie Watts would have disagreed lol
doesnt everyone already know this
I think it would be more efficient to just say accent the downbeats
Accent tap definition…
The only difference I heard was the change in beat
It doesn't have the annoying sound you'd hear in pop (constant, tinnitus like hi-hat). It's got the groove. Instead of "TS-TS-TS-TS-TS-TS-TS" it's "TS-T-TS-T-T-TS-T".
The second technique is more dynamic (also timbre-wise)
@@andybjerregaard5639 Got it, thanks. Honestly I wish they kept the same beat, or even played just the hi-hat to really hear the difference.
@@CaIamity_yeah, that could've helped.
Müllertechnik....
And suddenly, you sound like you are getting paid to play drums.
Are you Dom Sigalas' sister?
Hey! Can you teach the break of the drummer "The Walkmen" of the song The Rat -> ruclips.net/video/aWR1h-5EzUo/видео.html ?
Ok moeller...
You really don't need to lift your sticks so high.
yes its cool but its just a pointless tbh
Totally different tempo. Totally invalid comparison.
