Tip for getting some of the mega-high glyphs: once you get the Thrill of the Skies buff, you can level out your pitch so you're perfectly horizontal and not lose the buff, and use Skyward Ascent to gain altitude. Just keep circling around the mountain or whatever while you regain Vigor, and repeat until you can snag it.
Nice pro tip thanks. I find myself just sitting on my dragon waiting on the vigor to re-charge before ascending again. This technique will hopefully smooth out my Dragon Glyph hunting.
What does "pull up" mean? Use the arrow keys? Use the ASWD keys? Use the mouse? Also do you use ASWD for flying? I tried your suggestions and I just fall to the ground. I never get the ability where I charge vigor.

OMG thank you. i was ready to uninstall wow because i could not get this working for nothing. i checked 20 plus videos, all over the web. nobody mention the trick of looking up as you start to skyward ascent. got it working great now. and is way better if you take the time and grab the glyphs. a world of difference imo. thanks again
This is a great guide. Thank you for putting it together Soul. Unfortunately, after playing beta a bunch I just don't see the draw for dragon riding , and looking forward to regular flying coming. Hope we don't have to wait too long.
I think Evokers should get real dragonriding, except they would need to effectively 'mount' via the soar ability (which would have no CD). My reasoning is it would be limited because of the mounting cast time as normal dragonriding has and gives a truer form of flight and doesn't give them an advantage over normal dragonriding except it can be used in the old world (which hopefully will be fixed for others at some point) This would also not be an advantage if druids were to get dragonriding for their flight form (I think a similar system that I suggested for the Evokers would be balanced) as some have suggested. With dragonriding coming to the old world eventually i'd like to see soar be changed to just a dragonriding mount ability like the worgen racial works for ground mounts
Thank you for the info. I check in for news now and then because I still find it hard to believe that WOW has lost its charm for me. I canceled my subs during SL. That storyline was the last nail in the coffin. When I realized that boring household chores felt more rewarding than grinding in the game, it was time to quit. Dragon riding is not for me. Flight was only a means to an end for me, never an end in itself.
Great guide. I have been so having much trouble with the "training" quest. After about 30 mins, I have finish the first quest. Now I have lots of trouble with the second, where you have to fly through the rings and rise back to land on the target location. Seem like I need some airbrakes. Is there there a way you can make or know some resource for finishing the training? Thanks again for all you do :)

The problem is that, at some point, you might have to actually climb. God forbid you might run into a mountain. It's all well and good angling down to gain speed, but there's too much emphasis placed on aiming at an angle towards the ground, which naturally limits the abilities of "go anywhere" dragon riding.
To be honest this seems a bit too broken. This with the 5 second recharge upgrade will make Dragon Riding trivial, you won't even have to be good at it to reach the map ceiling with ease. It will also make the other active abilities quite weak in comparison. Now I don't think they should throw the nerf hammer on it completetly but some adjustements should be made for sure. As a side note the 5 second recharge seems quite broken on its own too. If they do keep a trick like this the time to recharge should probably be adjusted too. In my opinion you should be able to permanently fly if you put in the effort. Non-upgraded Dragon Riding with the current trick seems quite fair, but fully-upgraded seems just ridiculous.
There's a line to cross somewhere, but I think it's okay on the more ridiculous side of things. Remember I've put in a good amount of time dragon riding so I'm pretty used to it, meanwhile others may not have the same kind of aptitude or even tolerance for dragon riding. In the longer run, once the novelty wears off people'll just be zooming from point A to point B to run their errands. At a point Dragon Riding ought to feel like second nature, where tracking vigor should be almost a non-issue.
@@preds43 Mastering something should feel rewarding but you won't have that if it's too easy. And it also shouldn't be too difficult to use in general either. As people say: "Easy to learn, hard to master." Which might not be the case at the moment. Not saying the current version has to change but it kind of defeats the point of mastering it. Like, why not just give the player unlimited stamina in that case? Why is Blizzard not letting us have fun? There is no objectively best decision here as different people will have different amount of fun no matter how it ends up. It's up to Blizzard to find a good balance that will work great with most of the players. Even though that kind of thinking also has problems of it's own. And just as an example of how making something "more difficult" can make it better: Look at the success of the Souls games.
@@Neox999 The whole point is that your Dragon exists to fly around the Isles in a way that is akin to the Skyscales or Griffon in GW2. It's not actual "flying" but is more so akin to gliding. 6 vigor literally feels like infinite as is, and they're gonna expand upon this later on in the expac. You saying there should be infinite vigor would in your eyes only make it more "broken" and make it more "trivial". The current version is imo just fine...
I made this video for a reason. Lots of people on the Beta don't know how this particular method works. It also only shows the trick and now how it's best applied - gathering efficiently without wasting vigor.
Yes. Once you get a glyph, you unlock it on all characters that have completed the quest that gives Dragonriding (so alts won't have access to talents for the first hour or so).
I think that's a bug. On the beta Alts can go to a dragon riding trainer and learn talents right away too. To be fair though THAT might be the bug, haha. Just wanted to share that information.
@@SoulSoBreezy pretty sure its been stated that until you unlock dragonriding through the quest you're not supposed to have dragonriding at all and it seems the dragonriding mounts aren't given to alts that have not unlocked this feature. In my testing I had the mount on an alt for maybe 5 minutes in the dragon isles before it was disabled until the quest completed.
I've also made a few alts this current build and it seems if you take too long to get to the dragonriding quest or log out before it is complete, it removes the dragonriding mounts from that characters collection until the quest is complete.

Also, while GW2 is possibly the only MMO with unique flying, it does NOT mean WoW can't also do similar. GW2 didn't create nor copyright unique mounts in games. And honestly, more games should take from GW2s mount system, since it seems to be one of the only MMOs that did it right.

This is a hard pass for me but sadly for me it is forced game play. AS i have stated before i know this will trigger motion sickness and or vertigo with me the constant motion and crazy movement are not to my liking these are the reasons i do not play flying games. LOTRO tried " War Steeds" in their game about 10 years back where the mount would be in constant motion at super speed and the system bombed and was never heard from again ( Though that in part could be to some of their super unstable servers with monster lag at times) ppl quickly went back to normal steeds. This is the first expac i am actually i am dreading and for the first time may not take off work at launch i am getting anxiety thinking about it . The last thing in game that gave this vibe to me is in Legion when the shadow priest was forced to use a dagger. After a decade of using a staff and having staffs into my moggs i stopped with priest a toon that i played at high end pvp for a long time and didnt pick back up until the very launch day of BFA and i could get a staff. I then did a complete F U to blizz the very moment i got a new staff. I see a number of you tube and streamers telling us how super great this is but i know its not for me and i will struggle moving around the zones which world content is a lot of my game play I dont have a problem with Dragon flying being in game but when i am forced to do it is what i have a problem with . I have tons of flying mounts i have collected over the years that i prefer for either status or aesthetics and i am being forced to not use them . There is no reason that we cant have normal flying and let us choose if it takes me a minute or two longer to get to a quest objective or mining/herb node it wont effect any one else

It happens with me too. I go to Options, and there's a Dragon flying option and choose the option to place a circle "frame" around me when in flight, helps a little with filtering out the extra sensory stimuli. It does help at least a little. I was getting nauseous at times. If you haven't tried it, give is a go. I hope it helps. It takes the edge off for me. But I still get some motion sickness.

Makes sense that an ability that makes you ascend would slow you went you are descending, and speed you when ascending.

I do wonder how much ground travel speed is impacted by flying straight up in more or less the same place

Very odd. I've been making alts to redo the questlines and have had dragonriding minus the talents. That's in this current build.
