I noticed something about Rikiya. He sure knows how to pull in the ladies without even trying nor all creepy on them. He genuinely respects their boundaries and offers any help he could provide for them. I understand he is part of the yakuza, so maybe that's why he is single, but I'm still shocked he doesn't have a girlfriend or one pursuing him.
He’s not just any cinnamon roll Nico...he’s THE cinnamon roll! Also that male escort substory cracks me up because only Kiryu could be led into a love hotel, get greeted by a half naked woman and still have no idea what’s going on lmao. No wonder everyone thinks he’s a virgin. About the Kashiwagi scene, that “he really loved cold noodles” dialogue option was actually referenced in Yakuza 0! I don’t blame you if you don’t remember, but the very first thing you see him doing when you first meet him in the Kazama Family office is slurping down a bowl of cold ramen lol Btw just FYI, the Hitman missions are in fact another requirement for Amon, so keep that in mind! The good thing is most of them won’t take you too long to find and defeat. Also the payout is usually very much worth it (which is fortunate given the 300k yen you were forced to spend on lil miss garbage lol)
@@yukimishima7854 I mean, makes it all the more mysterious and funny. Also they always are right next to the batting center in kamurocho. So some really good ball game
There are few guarantees in a Yakuza game: Majima loving Kiryu, the Tojo Clan facing some kind of disaster, Amon being the last substory, Kiryu taking his shirt off to fight a half naked guy in a climatic final battle on top of a very tall building... And this game just added one more to the pile: Rikiya is best boy.
*Important Notes:* Now that you have unlocked the Hitman Missions, there are two main things to remember. One, these missions are spread across both cities and you have to keep checking back every time you complete one. If they don't specifically say that there are no more hitmens to take down in one of the two cities, then there are still hitmen around locking you off of one city (example: Okinawa having missions locking off some of Kamurochos’s). *Two, it is One of the three requirements to unlock the LAST substory (Amon fight) with the other requirements being ALL Substories and ALL IF7 training. I love how after 3 games of this shit Kiryu knows just to jump to violence when solving his problems now, like he’s basically given up on talking people down
It’s a shame that the sidequests with Rikiya have such a small window of opportunity since they really help expand on his character. I’m happy you managed to check them out! 🥰😎❤️
Yakuza Kiwami starts in the 1990s then timeskips to 2005 while Yakuza Kiwami 2 takes place in 2006, while Yakuza 3 goes to 2007 and 2009, so there hasn't been much time for Kiryu to age since we last saw him.
Yeah, compare Kiryu in any of the early Yakuza games to Yakuza 6 Kiryu and you can definitely see the dfference. Hell, Kiryu's fighting style even changes to reflect how much slower he's getting as he gets older.
@@MrPeaTearGryfin I think that's just a side effect of the dragon engine not allowing them to recreate all of Kiryu's moves because in Yakuza 5 he's already super old but he fights just as well and fluidly as he did in Kiwami 1, perhaps even better.
Several things to note: 1. I understand this is the third game in a row that Kiryu had to deal with Nishiki's goons. But I never get sick of the irony about Kiryu's relationship with them. Because back in Yakuza Kiwami, Kazama initially put together the Nishikiyama Family as a way to give Kiryu a home for when he got out of prison. The problem was that much like Kiryu, Nishiki was a genuinely sweet guy that wasn't cut for the yakuza lifestyle, then he was given a bunch of dickheads that clearly didn't respect him, the doctor that was supposed to help treat his sister was a quack who had gambling debts, and Shimano essentially acting like Emperor Palpatine to turn Nishiki against Kazama and resent Kiryu. Then he snapped and the dream of rising to the top of the yakuza food chain became an obsession. Then he was much more ruthless, wanting to prove he can make it on his own and not live in Kiryu's shadow. Even when he was on top, his men still didn't respect him, but liked the power being in the Nishikiyama Family gave them. Even though there were points it felt like Nishiki was under Jingu's thumb. It's just amazing how a family that was meant to welcome Kiryu with open arms devolved in them becoming a persistent thorn in his side. 2. The Kashiwagi loving cold noodles thing was a callback to Yakuza 0. If you remember in his character bio, it states that Kashiwagi is a passionate fan of cold noodles. And when we were first introduced to him when Kiryu and Nishiki visited his office for advice when they learned that Kiryu was framed for the murder at the Empty Lot, he is eating cold noodles. Just love that callback. 3. It's great to see you're finally warming up to Rikiya, Nico. And I admit, there are points I myself involuntarily call him Shinji. His interactions with Kiryu are just adorable to watch. Here's hoping he doesn't die!
Aoi as he is talking to Kiryu Aoi: So.... who is the dead guy on the floor? Kiryu: Oh, just some random person Ive never met before Its just Kandas dead lifeless body, as this substory is in the exact same room

Kiryu: y-you killed them? Haruka: No the died of "natural causes". Ever hear of shotgun-to-the-face-idus? Kiryu: Yeah people died on a highway of that 4 years ago.

I know this might be really late to tell you since we are this far into the game but as you see you're not getting alot of EXP from defeating enemies so here is something I found out by accident, you actually get various EXP from breaking objects that you can use as a weapon in the battle field arena you are in. For example if you pick up a bike and use it until it runs out you gain EXP from it. The problem however is that not everything gives you alot so some are better to use than others. On the same note about EXP, if you do heat actions against bosses you also get EXP, usually one level or around there. Uhh better late than never for this information right?
Judging by the thumbnail and the title of this episode, I’m going to assume that Nico fell with Rikiya’s character this episode and will now protect him at all costs!
By the way, as you complete hitman missions, you ought to look around the headquarters. Some of the people say new things from time to time. It’s just fluff, but it adds some characterization.
Well kinda feel like Nishiki story is a down spiral and the bottom line was that he was a genuine nice guy who wasn't cut out to be a criminal and once he lost everything for real he become evil putting all his effort in achieve The top position in the yakuza heriarchy so he could prove he wasn't the loser/lackey in someone else story. Also the whole "Nishikiyama" Family was build by Kazama to grant Kiryu (the prodigal son) a place to return after he got out of prison. But nobody in the family respected Nishiki because he didn't know the ropes of what it means doing bussiness in the yakuza world while his older Lt. and sergeants already knew. (he couldn't control his own men who actually told to his face "you don't know shit just stay there and watch" and so they got the chance to do their own bussiness going against the clan policy on don't mess with other clans territory and put the blame of their actions on their "Boss") Nishiki was from the start cut out from his own family affairs (if he knew That doctor had gambling debt with *his* yakuza family. Nishiki wouldn't have to beg for money, he could've simply demanded the heart operation for his sick sister, but Nishiki was too honest and was trusting in others. The only one who told him what was going on for real was Shimano and that only for the pleasure to see him crumble). When Nishiki snapped he become the Boss his underlings feared and so they started to listen to him but they still didn't respect him (We seen what happened with Yumi's sister, He didn't order that kill. SO Nishiki still couldn't fully control what was happening in his own Family) and the fact Jingu approached Nishiki is because he thinked "this is a dupe who aim too big I could easily reel him in on MY plan" but actually Nishiki after his past experiences didn't trust anybody anymore. This to say the Nishikiyama family couldn't redeem himself and the Joke is that the place inside the Tojo clan that was supposed to be safe heaven for Kiryu and got his "brother" name, instead turned into his worst enemy and a permanent torn on his side.
Like I keep saying, Nico, Ryuji isn't mentioned because he doesn't matter to the story of this game. There's rarely ever a chance to even mention him offhand without forcing it
1:30 I guess having him in optional side quests and post game means he won't die. But that also kinda means, which I guess is kinda obvious now that I think about it, characters who aren't in optional side quests have a 500% greater chance in dieing in the current game. So for now on we shouldn't be annoyed a side quest can get locked out till post game if it means that the character involved in it is 100% not going to die.
Savior of Kamurocho's lost cats sitting in the trees. Daddying the single mom's whose sons have been kidnapped. The ultimate Toilet paper delivery guy for Bro's in dire needs. The (once) 20 years old Pocket Circuit World Wide Champion! But who might this incredible Person be you ask? It's Kazuma Kiryu of course - The Legendary Daddy of Dojima!
Nico, the IF7 guy does not message you when he has new bosses unfortunately, but he does get new fights at the rate of 1 per chapter completed if I remember correctly.
Oh hell yeah, it’s time for the reapers. This guys are rather tough enemies (mini bosses) but is a great way to get some cash. Also including sub-stories, the Reapers have to be completed for you to fight Amon at the end.
The cold noodles option actually revealed a much more personal relationship between Kriyu and Kashiwagi. Also when we first saw Kashiwagi in 0, he was eating ramen.
When it comes to the Hitman missions they are a good way to gain both EXP and money. They are also needed in order to do the final substory mission. New ones pop up with every new chapter or by completing other Hitman missions. Some of them are easy to find but there are a few of them where it might take some time to find them as well. There isn't to many of them (20) and the earliest you can complete all of them is Chapter 10
Rikiya: Hey, aniki, can we go see Millennium Tower? Kiryu: HOW DARE YOU RIKIYA! THAT'S WHERE MY SECOND SECOND DADDY DIED JUST A FEW HOURS AGO!! Rikiya: Sorry aniki. Random jackoff: Excuse me sir, can you take me to Millennium Tower? Kiryu: HELL YES I CAN!
Well to be fair yakuza 3 combat system was designed to be a counter strategy game combat system even though that shit doesn’t flow as well for a beat them up. (It might of worked if blocking wasn’t the thing to make yakuza 3 combat like it is since no one likes walls)
You joke about Kiryu kicking the asses of all his friends, even Haruka, but Kiryu slapping the shit out of Haruka in Kiwami was the actual start of them growing closer lol
Wait, was that whole Natsumi substory entirely skippable?? It was significant & good characterization for my man, Rikiya. And it's timed too, right? Can you imagine someone skipping this? Holy shit, Yakuza hides some of it's best content behind the substories. Not a problem for Nicob, but other people who skips the side content are missing out

lessons I learned from Yakuza 3: Don't trust anyone
That last substory with Rikiya was so good. :)
Before “THAT” happens
So for now on we shouldn't be annoyed a side quest can get locked out till post game if it means that the character involved in it is 100% not going to die.
yeas i love nico’s yakuza series, so happy to be early for once!
Sidenote: Rikuya saying "I try ma'am" iS SO REMINISCENT OF MYSELF FGJLJGF- i SAY THAT ALL THE TIME AT WORK WTF
Rikiya is such a pure soul T_T
With Kashiwagi dead I think that just leaves Kiry, Majima and Komaki as the only surviving characters from Yakuza 0
And maybe Mama-San
That was a cute episode.
Oh, damn. You've reached the hitman missions... There're a lot of them and they are needed for Amon. Have fun?..
Rikiya does show a lot of character development in this chapter, he's definitely one of the best side characters in Yakuza
Nico, do all the hitman missions, this is one of the three requirements to be able to fight Amon.
The other two being substories and IF-7.
Nice timing on this because I got nothing else to watch and I can't sleep 🤣 yaaaaaaaaaaay Nico for ruining peoples sleeps schedules 👍
Nothing beats coffee and Kiryu in the morning. Oh there's my bowl
😌💨
The cold noodles option actually revealed a much more personal relationship between Kriyu and Kashiwagi. Also when we first saw Kashiwagi in 0, he was eating ramen.
5:27 Most obnoxious photobomb ever lol
29:36 ---- And only then, did Nico realize where this conversation is leading to, LMAO!
We sure made some friends along the way
It's funny how the way Rikkya's substory is set up at first as if HE'S the one dealing with the events of the substory rather than Kiryu.
So, in this episode, Nico gets tired of the game’s nonstop blocking bullshit and just tries to counterattack everything.
That’s understandable.
Well to be fair yakuza 3 combat system was designed to be a counter strategy game combat system even though that shit doesn’t flow as well for a beat them up. (It might of worked if blocking wasn’t the thing to make yakuza 3 combat like it is since no one likes walls)
Good vid nico!
Is nobody gonna talk about how Kotaro the killer is a clear reference to Jeff the Killer?
is it??
@@najelambutthemstandsformessy yup. the hoodie and all, along with the name.
You joke about Kiryu kicking the asses of all his friends, even Haruka, but Kiryu slapping the shit out of Haruka in Kiwami was the actual start of them growing closer lol
poor Kiryu no matter how much girls he does it with he keeps turning back into a virgin in the next part.
that Sketchy Guy is quite brave, or stupid, to start a fight with someone twice his size
Wait, was that whole Natsumi substory entirely skippable?? It was significant & good characterization for my man, Rikiya. And it's timed too, right? Can you imagine someone skipping this?
Holy shit, Yakuza hides some of it's best content behind the substories. Not a problem for Nicob, but other people who skips the side content are missing out
A man trying to get used to Kamurocho again after being stuck in jail for a good long while? Isn't that a trope...
Sure am learning a lot about this game
1:15:06 Uh, sir, are you okay? Sir? Hello? Okay, bye.
hey Nico just so you know, tiger drop doesn't work on kicks or leg attacks.
Fun fact: Mothers canonically don't exist in Yakuza. There's only DADDY KIRYU!
Nico you forgot the revelation
Are we not going to talk about how that Reaper has the capability to hit Kiryu multiple times with that sledgehammer and he'd be fine..
But Tachibana gets hit once and dies ;_;
Yakuza damage rule: only damage taken in cutscenes is real. XD
It's a trope called "Gameplay-and-story segregation"
Rikkiya what a bro
Journalist: I think I struck gold here!
Headline: "Suspicious man reported to be involved in elaborate scam involving prostitution, bamboozlement and violence"
Editor: ..........................................................................................
..........................................................................................................
......................................................................................................................................
.........................................................................................................................................................................................Go back out there.....
Journalist: yes sir...
Will nico ever play p5s?
BRUH WHAT ABOUT MACK!?
Natsumi goes to hug Rikiya.
Kiryu: TIGER DROP!
Natsumi goes flying onto the street and gets run over by a taxi.
Rikiya: A-ANIKI?! NANI THE FUCK!?
Kiryu: Fuck that bitch. You and me are going back to the hotel.
Rikiya: The hotel- Aniki! That was suppose to be an act!!!
Kiryu wraps an arm around Rikiya's shoulder: Then, we are going to ACT in a room. Get ready to go to Poundtown. Destination: Your ass.
A stoic Kiryu and a flustered Rikiya walk back towards the hotel, ignoring the growing crowd that's forming a circle around a, possibly unconscious, maybe dead, Natsumi.
Meanwhile, a one-eyed man watches the two men walk away, sporting a shit-eating grin holding a camera, taking pictures of the two.
Majima: Heheheheh. Kiryu-chan.... Ya gonna be a star!
Nice first!
