Unpopular opinion but I think it's pretty big of Kiryu for trying to reach out to Arase even after what he did in Yakuza 1/Kiwami to Kiryu. Kiryu has changed since the first game and is trying to move past from what happened to him. He's seen numerous times how people destroy themselves with their bitterness and inability to let go of the past. Hence him even saying "nothing comes good out of revenge". Getting pissed off at Arase, makes him no different from all the revenge fuelled men he's faced. Whilst naïve of him, it's consistent in how he's a believer of giving others a second chance since he himself is living a second chance at life away from his time in the Yakuza and at least tries to empathise and see some redeeming feature in someone who've lost their way (with some exceptions). Arase whilst still a bitter prick with no remorse, one redeeming quality is that he did take in and look after his fellow Hitmen Reapers who were lost, tossed aside and abandoned from the Yakuza with no place to belong like he was and whilst he rejects the offer to rehabilitate from the HLA, he stops targeting them out of sign of being somewhat touched that there were people that cared enough to look out for him.
Ah yes, Kazuto Arase, leader of the Reapers and the bastard who killed Reina and Shinji in Kiwami/Yakuza 1. Kiryu can finally confront him and avenge their deaths once and for all...by giving him a stern lecture and a slap on the wrist lol. Seriously, I wish he got a worse punishment than that or a redemption arc or something but whatever. It was still neat seeing a character from previous games referenced in a side activity like this. About the shoulder thrust, it's actually Akira's Body Check from Virtua Fighter. I find it ironic that it technically took three games for Ryo Hazuki from Shenmue and Kazuma Kiryu from Yakuza to learn one of Akira's iconic moves. Especially since all three were born on the same year 1968, and originally had the same developers.
( Years in the Future ) Kenny Omega vs Taichi vs Roman Reigns in a winner takes all for the AEW Championship, IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, and the WWE Universal Championship. SPOILER: Taichi tiger drops Omega and Reigns so hard, they retire from wrestling. Our boy from the orphanage is now a triple champion.
BTW Nico, CyricZ is pretty famous in the yakuza community for his incredibly helpful guides on all yakuza games. They're great and helped me in 100 percenting many yakuza games.
I think that game you saw that you were wondering if it was mesuking may have been the real world equivalent of mesuking: Mushiking: The King of Beetles. It's mesuking but you're actually using bugs instead of girls in a something that can be loosely called a bug costume. Mushiking actually has a world record because it had over 100,000 tournaments as of 2008(so probably a decent chunk more since then). Mushiking unlike Mesuking is purely beetle based, but does still do the bug cards and skill cards thing mesuking did.
So, Arase. While I did enjoy his return, I honestly feel like Kiryu gave him way too much slack for the man who killed Reina and Shinji. You'd honestly think Kiryu would be way more pissed at the guy, yet here he just does his old-fashioned "You can be better than this" that he gives to the other villains in the series. On a side note, the theme that plays when you fight him is known as End Point, a remix of the theme when you fight him in Kiwami, Vertical Point. I do like the more orchestral theme to it, more fitting for the climax of the Reapers and Arase's revenge.
It is truly disgusting how easily Arase got off. MERCY IS NOT STRENGTH. MERCY IS NOT AN ABSOLUTE GOOD. To let someone like Arase go; someone so selfish, violent, and (most importantly) unrepentant; is nothing but dangerous stupidity.
I feel like Arase was a last minute addition or something cuase Kiryu never even mentions him killing Shinji and Reina and doesn't seem to care about him any more than any of the other hitmen. Like they made this scene with a generic boss in mind and then later changed it to Arase.
I was having fun watching you voice Taichi. As cute as it is when Haruka and Kiryu hold hands, it would be just as cute if you could pet the puppy and have more intertactions with it.Your timing in this game seems to be on point too. You know the perfect time to be lighthearted and the perfect time to be more serious with the voices and everything. The karaoke was fun to watch too. The little things like them doing different songs for different girls is cute ,and I respect them for doing that. I'm glad you had fun. I hope you are doing at least pretty good.
Kiryu: what did you guys have for lunch today Haruka: soba Doctor: ah so basically it was all an allergy reaction Kiryu: in other words buckwheat In a different place Blackquill: BUCKY MORE SOBA Bucky: sure thing simon Athena: Simon i don't think its a good idea to eat all that Blackquill: Athena what are you talking about? I’m so happy you finally got to see all of the karaoke songs in this game! They are all great and all of the voice actresses did an amazing job with them! 🥰❤️
29:21 Well funny you say that because in karaoke places in Japan do have tambourines and maracas in them for people to use. Even in game you can see them on the table in front of Kiryu.
Pretty brave for Nico to look Arase up on presumably the Yakuza wiki, since they sometimes manage to choose the most spoiler-y screenshot for the display picture...
Nico, what you might not realize about the karaoke is that, even if two girls share a song, it will be A DIFFERENT SINGER EACH TIME. That is a BONKERS level of detail that we didn't even see in Yakuza 0!
I feel like I need to say something about this game. This game is not perfect by any means but is not nearly as terrible as everyone thinks it is, Yakuza 3 shouldn't be the black sheep of the franchise and while the constant blocking and just overall combat can be lacking I think it's important to remind ourselves what came before it, in this case Yakuza 1 and 2 didn't have as good as combat as this game, I know cause I've seen them not to mention this game introduces so many heat action even though I play the kiwami versions of Yakuza there were plenty of them I've never seen, not to mention other cool mechanics like revelations and the chasing minigame, overall what I'm trying to say is I hope people come to understand that this game was 100% an improvement over the other Yakuza games, or at least it was unless you've played the remakes but even then I wouldn't say this game deserves such negative reception and I hope not just Nico but everyone else see this when we get to Yakuza 4 because a lot to say about that game and man if any Yakuza deserves to be a black sheep it's Yakuza 4 but we'll get there when we get there, sorry for the long comment lol
3:13 - HOMIGOD, i just noticed, Nico, you're RIGHT! on the table there! Kiryu DOES have a tambourine and maracas!!! that must ahve been there this whole game and i never noticed... that made my day! :D
Kiryu: Hey Nico Nico: NO, Kiryu, stop! You've absolutely destroyed my stomach, head, everything! It's been 26 episodes and every fiber of my body hurts like hell! Kiryu: Oh... Look, I'm sorry, Nico Nico: For real? Kiryu: Yeah. You know what, you can punch me in the face. Nico: Well, you don't need to- Kiryu: KOMAKI PARRY Nico: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHH Kiryu: DRAGON KING ESSENCE Nico: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGHHHH And then Nico never touched any of the yakuza games.
6:05 This actually showcases a miss conception present in many movies and games. There's no such thing as a disconnect tone. I'm sure you've experience a disconnect before, you keep asking if the person is still there because there is no sound. People think because those sounds play before you connect with someone that they also play after they disconnect as well, but no, you actually have to hang up the phone before dial tones come back.
1:07:30 even though cutscenes are preset, it's still a bit disappointing that Rikiya's viper tattoo still had empty eyes despite having done the mission to finish his tattoo
Kiryu: Ahh... it's good to be back in Okinawa. But seriously, I've been meeting a lot of cameos lately. We have Japanese Cartman and our neighbor Flanders. Who's going to show up next? Rick and Morty? Haruka: Err...Uncle Kaz..About that... Rawk Hawk: Did someone say someone needs wrestler to RAWWWKKK HAWWWKKKK?! Flanders: Giggity giggity goo! Kiryu: D'OH! YOU STAY AWAY FROM MY KIDS! And as for the weird bird, he can stay. We're having Chicken soup for dinner tongiht.
Yeah, honestly, even though the Yakuza 3 karaoke songs have that definitively first-time quality to them, they're honestly still really fun and underrated. Saturday Night Lover, I wanna change myself, Shooting Star and Kamurocho Lullaby are super good and classics imo. Hope more people recognize them for the bangers they are. Also yes, Boxcelios was entirely made up for this game. It's not a real game. Still kinda fun.
Yeah CyricZ has done guides for every Yakuza game, and all of them are as in depth as his Y3 guide. The dude is a fucking godsend. He's absolutely incredible and I tip my hat to him because holy shit would I go insane without him
An overabundance of clown content, allergic reactions to buckwheat soba, alter egos based on performing personas, AND people getting drunk? This can only mean one thing! Kiryu: Hmm, a text? Mack: Hey, Kiryu, we got a lot of action shots lately, how about we settle down? Heard a real chill vibe comes from this sitdown storyteller theater, but it'll bust your gut real good if you aren't careful! Kiryu: Comedy sit down theater? Isn't that the Rakugo building just down this street? Come to think of it, isn't that...? Ore wa...? *Kiryu sees Uendo Toneido, balancing on a precariously high pile of seat cushions and being harassed by a street thug* Uendo: Now sir, do you need to calm down...? Patches: O-or have a laugh? Kisegawa: Or be told to screw off? Street thug: Screw off?! Get off your cushion high horse and face the rest of the world on our level, jerk! *He kicks the bottom pillow, throwing the whole tower off balance. Uendo yells as they fall forward, smashing forehead to forehead with the thug. The pillows fly like doves all around them as both their bodies collide and fall to the ground* *Uendo slowly gets up, clutching their head and over the thug's unconscious body* Owen: Ow, w-where am I? Is...this mister sleeping in the street? *Kiryu's eyes widen* Kiryu: They used separate distinct styles of approach to defeat him...!? *The 4 fighting style system from Yakuza 0 suddenly appears onscreen*
Nico, Kiryu does not have only one song in this game. You're just literally not going into the karaoke bar alone so you're just not seeing that he has more songs.
I heard that RGG studios is going to announce a new judgement game sequel if not maybe a new yakuza game on may 7th soon. Check out their twitter if you want confirmation. I hope they will have like a yakuza spin off remastered trilogy for the three.
For some reason, the way you made Taichi be starts to make me think PLOT TWIST! Taichi was Kanda's bastard son :Kappa: Take that wild theory your way :)
Ahh, I feel like you could have been a bit nicer with the Taichi scenes. I know they're just jokes, but the same fat jokes and Cartman jokes start to get a little tiring and even hurtful after a while. Especially since the scenes were meant to be kind of serious...
@@kyotanaka920 or maybe there are two cutscenes that are exactly the same except for his tattoo, and the game plays one depending on you did the substory or not?

Yaaay! Nico is shouting out CyricZ and getting some Cyric love going on :) When Yakuza 7 came out, Cyric was part of a Yakuza cosplay circle that did a “Pass the Glass” compilation, where they all cosplayed as a Yakuza character, took a drink from off camera, then passed the drink off the other side of the frame to the next person. Apparently Kaito from Judgment has become Cyric’s go to guy for a while now. Here is a like with their Pass the Glass videos. They are short, fun, and even the characters you haven’t seen yet don’t count as spoilers, because their cosplays give nothing away. Cyric is in there in one of them. gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/272324-yakuza-like-a-dragon/79098487
I just want to ask about something I noticed about Nico's playthrough of this Yakuza game compared to previous ones. Have any of you penguins been noticing how Nico seems to be sort of dreading combat in this game a lot more than previous entries that he has done, or is that just me?
Considering the ridiculous amount of enemies who just love blocking way too many times and the combat mechanics not being as refined as future titles, I don't blame him
I figured as much, the best part about this game is the story (which to be fair has pretty much always been good). However, Yakuza normally has a fighting system that you are excited to experience too. I get why Y3R's battle system is the way it is, but it still doesn't feel good.

@@Mrsub-mm8hi I'm not surprised cause Kiryu has moved past what happened to him from the first game and he has seen how holding grudges and not letting go of the past ruins people. Him being mad makes Kiryu no different.
Everyone: Why is Kiryu not mentioning how Arase killed Shinji and Reina?
Me: Yeah. I definitely remember that. I definitely remember Shinji.

Kenny Omega vs Taichi vs Roman Reigns in a winner takes all for the AEW Championship, IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, and the WWE Universal Championship.
I think I recall a video I just watched, and I think he made a translated guide for Ishin?
Cut Hitman Mission- Kiryu finds a giant traffic cone on the roof of Millennium Tower. The true mastermind of the Reapers is waiting inside....
Yeah, Kiryu doesn't seem to care at all and hardly even responds to Arase
I was having fun watching you voice Taichi. As cute as it is when Haruka and Kiryu hold hands, it would be just as cute if you could pet the puppy and have more intertactions with it.Your timing in this game seems to be on point too. You know the perfect time to be lighthearted and the perfect time to be more serious with the voices and everything. The karaoke was fun to watch too. The little things like them doing different songs for different girls is cute ,and I respect them for doing that. I'm glad you had fun. I hope you are doing at least pretty good.
Kiryu: what did you guys have for lunch today
Haruka: soba
Doctor: ah so basically it was all an allergy reaction
Kiryu: in other words buckwheat
In a different place
Blackquill: BUCKY MORE SOBA
Bucky: sure thing simon
Athena: Simon i don't think its a good idea to eat all that
Blackquill: Athena what are you talking about? Everybody should enjoy the delicacy of soba and for those who don't shall be cut down by me
Athena:but what if they're allergic?
Blackquill: then their body is to weak to stomach it come Athena let's dine together a food that we gracefully have before us
BLACKQUILL PROCEEDS TO EAT FOR HOURS WITH ATHENA BEGRUDGINGLY WITH HIM

Tachi’s my favorite of the orphanage kids so I’m happy for the attention your giving him. 😅
In Taichi we trust?
He’s my favorite too, what an absolute Chad
i love how both today's yakuza and yesterdays Omori featured Nico playing an arcade space ship shoot em up
I cannot express just how funny you’ve made Taichi I laugh every time you put on the voice
I’m so happy you finally got to see all of the karaoke songs in this game! They are all great and all of the voice actresses did an amazing job with them! 🥰❤️
Arase was the one who killed Reina and Shinji
29:21 Well funny you say that because in karaoke places in Japan do have tambourines and maracas in them for people to use. Even in game you can see them on the table in front of Kiryu.
YAKUZA 3... Featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry™ Series
And then suddenly Yakuza turns into an SMT game
Pretty brave for Nico to look Arase up on presumably the Yakuza wiki, since they sometimes manage to choose the most spoiler-y screenshot for the display picture...
I think my time traveling powers are starting to awaken. I managed to get back whole 3 seconds during "Comment of the Day!" section.
Didn't expect Arase to come back as the leader of the Reapers.
I guess you could say... you never saw it coming.
9:48 You may not like it, but this is the peak of enemy AI in gaming
👁👄👁
Omg your voices for the characters is great as always~
Nico, what you might not realize about the karaoke is that, even if two girls share a song, it will be A DIFFERENT SINGER EACH TIME. That is a BONKERS level of detail that we didn't even see in Yakuza 0!
Yakuza Like A Dragon waiting in a dark corner for Nico to pick it up
"Dame.. Dame.. Dame yo, dame dame yo, sake o wa, suki de, suki suki deeee-"
Kiryu gave Taichi all 50 issues of shonen 5. But kiryu kept the first edition issue.
Hey there Nico-chan!
Majima-San?!?
Nani?
Nani the fuck?!
This is some baka bullshit
3:13 - HOMIGOD, i just noticed, Nico, you're RIGHT! on the table there! Kiryu DOES have a tambourine and maracas!!! that must ahve been there this whole game and i never noticed... that made my day! :D
Nicob LP wishlist:
- FE:3Hs other storylines (maybe DLC too?)
- Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise
- Hyrule Warriors and Age of Calamity.
You know what your playthrough made me realize? I made things so much harder for myself because I don't think I crafted a single weapon on hard mode.
Kiryu: Hey Nico
Nico: NO, Kiryu, stop! You've absolutely destroyed my stomach, head, everything! It's been 26 episodes and every fiber of my body hurts like hell!
Kiryu: Oh... Look, I'm sorry, Nico
Nico: For real?
Kiryu: Yeah. You know what, you can punch me in the face.
Nico: Well, you don't need to-
Kiryu: KOMAKI PARRY
Nico: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHH
Kiryu: DRAGON KING ESSENCE
Nico: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGHHHH
And then Nico never touched any of the yakuza games.
I don't understand English, but I love nico games and Japanese that nico imitates.😂
1:07:30 even though cutscenes are preset, it's still a bit disappointing that Rikiya's viper tattoo still had empty eyes despite having done the mission to finish his tattoo
The Taichi ad libs cracked me up!
59:26
Nico: Wait, a wooden box. What's in the box?
Me: *What's in the booo -*
Nico: *WHAT'S IN THE BOOOOOOOOOOOX*
Me: :D
Taichi: *Falls on the floor, isn't responding, probably dying*
Kiryu: "Hurt? Good."
18:32 The reenactment of Dante vs Vergil
Taichi's allergic to buckwheat?
Damn........hope he can live without soba.
It's understandable that you forgot about Arase (I did too tbh), at least much more so than forgetting Makoto and Kaoru 😅
Haruka's a pizza smuggler.
"Shut up Taichi, you asshole. I'm gonna throw you in the ocean" - I'm crying! lol
CyricZ helped me with every single game. Dude is great.
46:45 is when he gets back to main story
For anyone like me who doesnt really care for the hostesses or reapers in this game lol
I don't know if it's my hearing, but everytime I see Kiryu throw an enemy I can faintly hear "YEET".
Taichi: Protects Kiryu
Me: You fuckin mini mad lad jfc ily lmao
Good vid nico!
Yeah CyricZ has done guides for every Yakuza game, and all of them are as in depth as his Y3 guide. The dude is a fucking godsend. He's absolutely incredible and I tip my hat to him because holy shit would I go insane without him
I just realized the perfect name for Shiro “Moshirogo”
Hey has Nico's Taichi voice been used before? It just sounds so funny I can't stop smiling. The Council of Voices needs this kid!
It honestly sounds like a male version of his Miu voice to me.
Ore wa...?
*Kiryu sees Uendo Toneido, balancing on a precariously high pile of seat cushions and being harassed by a street thug*
Uendo: Now sir, do you need to calm down...?
Patches: O-or have a laugh?
Kisegawa: Or be told to screw off?
Street thug: Screw off?! Get off your cushion high horse and face the rest of the world on our level, jerk!
*He kicks the bottom pillow, throwing the whole tower off balance. Uendo yells as they fall forward, smashing forehead to forehead with the thug. The pillows fly like doves all around them as both their bodies collide and fall to the ground*
*Uendo slowly gets up, clutching their head and over the thug's unconscious body*
Owen: Ow, w-where am I? Is...this mister sleeping in the street?
*Kiryu's eyes widen*
Kiryu: They used separate distinct styles of approach to defeat him...!?
*The 4 fighting style system from Yakuza 0 suddenly appears onscreen*
YEEEEAAAAAHHHH BOOOOOIIIII
CyricZ is the only man brave enough to make a guide for every Yakuza game. And God bless him for it.
It is my belief that there's no bad Yakuza karaoke song
You never know when Nico will upload his next video. Just like you never know when the next shipment of Ps5s will be available.
Happy hour.
Nico, Kiryu does not have only one song in this game. You're just literally not going into the karaoke bar alone so you're just not seeing that he has more songs.
Yakuza 3 player here, no he has only one song he sings, otherwise the other girls sing the other songs while kiryu is backup.
@@FlareSouL I guess I just completely forgot that he only had one song in this game. I played all the games and I remember him having more
I love Saturday night lover it a good sing
One of the best imo
I heard that RGG studios is going to announce a new judgement game sequel if not maybe a new yakuza game on may 7th soon. Check out their twitter if you want confirmation. I hope they will have like a yakuza spin off remastered trilogy for the three.
Yeah something’s gonna happen on judgment day
Japanese Eric cartman going ham!!
Especially since the scenes were meant to be kind of serious...
wait a minute I don't think Rikiya's tattoo was filled in? guess they weren't expecting you to actually do the sub story.
Maybe it was originally part of the main story, but was cut and made into a substory?
@@kyotanaka920 or maybe there are two cutscenes that are exactly the same except for his tattoo, and the game plays one depending on you did the substory or not?
Everyone: Arase something something Shinji and Reina, how could Nico not remember??
Me, still trying to remember who Anese is: ._.
..
..
Yes Reina and Shinji were two of my favorite characters, nope dont remember this dude
Buckwheat allergy huh.. *Phoenix Wright flash backs
Ay, Kiryu and Rikiya have some clean looking wrestling gear 👌. Just gave me new ideas for my WWE 2K19 creations.
16:40
Arase flexing a true pistolier's celerity.
Just in case anyone was at all invested in the redemption of Arase, lil reminder that he MURDERED Reina (Nishiki's lifetime friend and informant, who decided she couldn't help him anymore) AND Shinji (Kiryu's lil buddy)
Yaaay! Nico is shouting out CyricZ and getting some Cyric love going on :)
When Yakuza 7 came out, Cyric was part of a Yakuza cosplay circle that did a “Pass the Glass” compilation, where they all cosplayed as a Yakuza character, took a drink from off camera, then passed the drink off the other side of the frame to the next person.

I just want to ask about something I noticed about Nico's playthrough of this Yakuza game compared to previous ones. Have any of you penguins been noticing how Nico seems to be sort of dreading combat in this game a lot more than previous entries that he has done, or is that just me?
It’s because the combat sucks in this one.
Yakuza 3 gameplay sucks ass
Nico for the love of god, don’t bother attempting Haruka’s requests next episode. Some of the latter ones are nearly impossible and NOT fun… and the reward is not gonna be worth it. So please don’t waste some of the episode time on it.
