Great idea! After viewing this, I picked up some 1/4" aluminum rod and made one myself. For anyone that wants to make one, you'll need 3" of aluminum rod (1/4 or 3/16 O.D.), a 2.5mm drill bit, an M3 tap, and some longer M3 screws. The hardest part was bending the aluminum rod to the right angles. I'm going to make one out of 3/16 aluminum next.
Thanks for the advice! Can you please do a video on trx4 suspension tuning? The average person wouldn’t know how to set up for max performance. Things like 1/4 of shaft showing, why vehicle sitting lower is better etc. Just a general setup of how to tune from stock. I have a trx4 sport. Much appreciated!
I like your mod, it’s very ingenious. On my TRX4 I noticed the flex was on 3 points. Both front link mounts, the regular and panhard mounts as well as the shock tower that has the hanging panhard mount. Noticed they flex quite a lot. I fixed it with aluminum link mounts for the from axles, that solves the bottom problem. For the shock mount there are aluminum parts that fit exactly like oem parts, and once I installed that, that entire flex issue was completely eliminated
Cool video, thanks for the tip! I have a 55T 540 motor and a smaller pinion in my TRX4 and it's amazing. Super smooth and super quiet. No, it's no racer but I use it for trails and it's "fast" enough.
Thanks for the cool fix. I just broke a pan hard axle mount last month, decided to still go with the plastic replacement for I didnt think aluminum would live as long. I run a protek 370tbl and a g13 in my trx's . When I run 2.2 you can see the frame and pan hard twist super hard! Nice wheel hop too lol!
As always thank you for the info. Always super helpful. I did the aluminum towers and the brass link mount. Only regret was having to hack up the inner fenders for the aluminum shock towers.....o well
You can also put a screw with a washer in the middle of the RIBs of the Panhard base and get it through the C-Frame with a dremel tool then Secure the screw with a nut on the inside of the C-Frame (There is space between the stock servo mount bracket and C-Frame for the nut to sit flush) and vualá! No more flex at all.. I did this since I got the lower panhard bronze link? the plastic panhard base in the Bronco Fenders was flexing like crazy with a 500oz-in servo.. So I had to fix that ASAP... Another idea was to buy some of the cheapo Aluminum shock bases with the double sheer mount and retrofitting them to the bronco mud guards? The nut and washer was a faster, cleaner and better solution overall.

Or the red Traxxas servo with BEC! Aluminum axle housings have that bracket on there. Guess I'll have to make my own cause of the brushless motor I'm running.
@@dezfan I think I've done the mounts at the axle. I watched through it and WOW my yard had changed so much!!! My recording style is a bit different now too. Most of those trucks in the back are gone... LOL
You're the trx whisperer... I noticed this today and have been researching remedies... find out you already have a year old video about it. Is there any kit out there now?
Hey Joe, hoping this message may find you. Are you able to tell me why when I turn at a stand still, the truck pitches, or leans left and right REALLY bad? I mean I understand a little has to happen, but this is severe. Haha. I know you don't know all the details, but it is a trx4 with powerful servo, and metal mounts. Any tips would be great. It's been getting my goat.
yeah its because of the panhard steering system, especially if the end points are too far it will pitch the truck pretty hard. check and make sure the end points are just before locking out the knuckles and make sure the tierod isn't hitting the diff cover at full lock.
@@ExocagedRC thanks for the tips. I did have the end points set, and I clear the diff cover. So otherwise you're saying it is "characteristic" to the panhard system? Obviously I'll keeping monkeying with it. It just bothers me. Haha. Comp situation, that could cause the truck to touch the flag...
@@whitsrcleftovers2707 yeah it sucks an a weak servo doesn't have the power to do that. Yes it can cause issues in comps. I'm assuming you have the suspension down a good bit? Maybe 4mm of shaft showing?
@@ExocagedRC front suspension is fairly stiff, a lot more shaft showing then that. Rear is super soft. I run internal spring shocks without oil. When you pick up the front end it works perfectly, only under load.
I've watched this video several times. Haha. Will you make me one of these? Or know of anyone that makes something that works with the inner fender setup? Watching the scxiii viviton video made me think of this.
Ok, I lied, I definitely could make this but I don't have any room left to put a vice and I'm either feeling lazy, or just too busy fixing my wife & 3 kids cars.
You still using this custom piece, or you want to send it to me..? Lol. Been monkeying around with different things, and just can't seem to get something figured out.
Wayyyyy too much play and flex in that front axle. Was considering picking up a trx4 sport but after seeing this there’s no way. Might have to go with the classic scx10-2
On the Bronco the inner wheelwells and panhard bar mount are one piece, that’s the reason for this mod as I haven’t seen full inner wheelwells out of metal.
This is probably one of the dumbest, if not THE dumbest mods I've ever seen... The flex is so minimal and really doesn't actually affect anything. Besides that, there is a REASON those parts are made to flex. Would you rather break the cheaper plastic bits or the more expensive electronic and/or metal bits? This is just as bad as the "flex steer" everyone was complaining about with the redcat gen 8... Just another one of those non issue things that people want to nitpick about...

The benefit to plastic over metal is the flexibility. Why would you eliminate that?
Nice upgrade👍Have you thought about doing the video on the flysky Gt3 scroll button? Thanks
Oh yeah I forgot about that one. I’ll see if I can get something recorded this week on it.
Those 12t trailmasters are fun but they dont last long!

I think so. This is under and behind the motor so any fan should fit.
Good info brother
What size material did you use and the size of the tap as well??? Will make my own. Please and thank you good sir!
This was just 1/4” round aluminum and the tap is 3mm .5 thread.
running mine with a broken panhard bar but with my fix its stronger than new wwhich aloows it to remain broke lol
My panhard mount just broke. I will see if i can make a brace like this. What are the dimensions of the aluminium rod?

This problem probably does not affect the Trx4 Defender. Because with me the part is not flexible.
Crawfy4D Hell both of my defender chassis trucks has the same issue. Easily fixed with an aluminum shock mount as the upper panhard mounts to that.
my bonestock trx4 g wagon can pull wheelies on 3s can anyone elses trx4s do that?

You need to sell these . theres no option on the market to fix this problem besides removing the fenders and getting aluminum mounts. Id pay 25$ easy.

what is wrong with flex? if you make it solid, something will break.
jeff swertfeger flexing steering components reduce effective throw under load and that reduces accuracy.
Why a 12t and what pinion on it ?
I like a bit more wheel speed and it has a 16t pinion on it, the battery in this video was a 2S.
Exocaged RC thanks for the reply how is the slow crawling with the 12t
@@MrSweatshop1 it can crawl as slow as you want, you can gear it down and crawl and have some wheel speed to get up some things if you want.
