Keep one for me. Let it be pre-preorder :) You found your own personal design language and it is very first reason why I want this watch badly. Thank you! Well done!
This is a watch that I respect. The cantilevered indicies at 4, 8 & 12, the detail on the dial generally and the case & bracelet design and finishing particularly, but I don't feel the need to buy it. It's a little too boardroom-ie and cocktail bar-ish for my tastes but I'm glad to know it's out there. Congrats. 2nd Hour.
Agreed. This is an excellent execution of a concept. I particularly love the guilloche pattern in the center and cantilevered indexes. Lots to like about it, but overall, this style isn't exactly for me.
@@JustOneMoreWatch "Notify me on launch" button pressed. I think one of those salmon pink beauties will be my next watch indeed. I'll call it "Piggy" :) P.S. I'm in love with this "fork" hands and 12-4-8 markers. It's just cool personal brand design language marks. Perfect! Just perfect!
Agreed, he is extremely personable and always answers queries and emails in a professional and timely manner. Yes ,I will be getting a couple of these Mandalas to go with my pair of Gin Clears. Nice to have something other than a dive watch.
Beautiful watch, that dial, colour combination and the hands. Also enhanced as always by the detailed description you manage to make in such short period of time. Good and negative points, indoor and outdoor shots, different straps, your reviews are just fantastic. Greetings from Bonny Scotland
Love it. Don't need it. Want it anyway. The markers at 12,4 &8 to my eye is quirky and that's appeals to me to say nothing of the face. She's a beautiful. Thx Jody!
Hey Jody! About the crown 👑. I believe they went with that crown to emphasize symmetry with the dial. While you’re looking at the watch as a whole, the dial and the crown resemble that “cross hatching” look to probably give it that symmetrical feel.
Cracking review as always Jody. Being more of a tool type watch fan this is a watch I respectfully probably wouldn’t have looked twice at scrolling on social media but there’s actually loads to admire about the brand and the watch. They’re doing their own thing and doing it well and there’s a lot to be said for that. I’m sure they’ll have no trouble hitting their Kickstarter goals with this one 👍
Nice variation on the intro. Some Mike Myers vibe going on. Spectacular watch. Might not be to everyone’s taste but in terms of design elements versus price this watch is a winner. Will be my next buy
That with-date model is tempting. This design would look wonderful with a pointer date so that there can be as much -guilloche- _guillotine_ pattern as possible.
Thanks for another great review Jody! Truly appreciate the spotlight on the home grown watchmaking talent. Peter and his team scored a boundary on this one and I will definitely be backing their Kickstarter for the Mandala. I am looking forward to paring the dressy elegance of the gray/golf color way with one of my Vario Harris tweed straps. Namaste, my friends.
This is great value for money. It’s interesting and thankfully different! I don’t like the bracelet that is purely personal taste so I LOVED seeing this one on a leather strap thought it looked great 👍🏻 this is a brand I have a lot of time for and an owner with a passion for watches and quality. Really hope it is a massive hit on Kickstarter!
Looks like some Christmas tree ornaments we had when I was a kid -- not a bad thing; I'd stare at those all the time while recovering from turkey and sugar rushes.... 👍
The difference here is, very much, in all of that lovely detail. Great price. Should wear quite small, given the bezel, horizontal rehaut and sloped chapter ring before you reach the dial. Great.
I have seen a dial like that at that price point. The Seiko cocktail times, especially the newer 38.5 mm ones. I have the SRPE43. The Miyota movement on this Mandala is better though.
Beautiful time piece I just couldn't wear pink with my complexion. As the great and wonderful Billy Connelly once said, I'm not white, I'm pale blue. Perhaps I will consider the darker colors when they come out. Excellent review!
I’m a sucker for a patterned dial, and this is a real beauty!!! I will have to check into what that will cost when it gets to the USA! Great review as always Jody, and I love the micro shots!!!
You keep picking not only the watches I want to see, but the colorways too - well done! The specs, design, and finishing for that early bird pricing is actually remarkable. Something about that grey outer ring I just can't get over though. I feel like if that matched the dial I would have zero hesitation to buy this one.
Kudos for not making just another clone! The dark dial gives it a more sporty shift, IMO. Perfect dimensions, unique design, including the bracelet... We have a winner!
Far out man. I saw these popping up in my Facebook ads so I ignored them out of habit, however, my curiosity got the better of me after seeing that salmon dial. Not to mention, the nostalgia kicking in as I recalled the Mandala acid we used to get in the 70s. Oh god! Did I say that out loud?! Ahem... yeah.. nice watch 😁 and the AT shirt👍
I'm really tempted to go for this, I recently sold my SARB017 Alpinist and this seems to fill the same niche down to the dimensions, mostly thanks to that internal bezel. Too many micros to consider!
Very attractive little watch. The sacred geometry, fibonacci aspect is very appealing and beautiful. I love that knurled crown but you're right, it doesn't really suit the style of the watch.
Gorgeous watch. This WAS next on my collection list, however, a much wanted Seiko sarb033 came up for around the same price in great condition. Yeah, so the Mandala got upstaged and pushed back
If you aren't sure, buy several. The grey one looks fantastic (a little understated), check out the review on Second hour watches website. Green, of course, and maybe the blue? To my eyes, the pastel colours look a little washed out, but whatever takes your fancy. Awesome watches for the money, Miyota 9000's are fantastic movements.
One of the very few occasions where the date would be detrimental, looks great and to most of us the zen stuff is just decoration. I think the crown looks fine
Re the micro adjust, some other reviews showed a different clasp with six holes. I will email them to ask because this is a factor for me and I'm interested in buying. It took a little thinking, but I am liking the 4-8-12 markers. I'm generally not a fan of 3-6-9-12 dials because there seems to be no reason to point out those times. They just happen to fall on the quarters, but there's nothing special about 3 am or 9 pm. 12, sure. 3, 6, 9, no. But diving a day into thirds, those are longer time periods that make more sense to me. Also, I wake up around 4 and go to bed around 8 so it hits the spot. Gorgeous dials. I want.
I appreciate that the company offers a non-date version as the standard model, the convenience of a date window isn’t worth throwing off that lovely dial.
It's a good looking watch. The pink is nice but a bit too light to make the watch stand out IMO. The black one really stood out. That would be the one I would buy!
Check out the video reviews on the Second hour website, the green looks amazing and the grey actually is really surprisingly good, esp. with the gilt handset and indices. Blue is also pretty nice. To me, black is ........just black, but hey, everyone has a different opinion. Just love the watches and Peter is absolutely fantastic to deal with. Why limit yourself to just ONE?
I'm not sure about the 12/4/8 indicies, as they seem cool but odd. Something one could get used to, and neatly symmetrical. However, I really dig the forked handset - those look nice, as well as distinct from other brands I'm familiar with. Finally, were I buying, I'd be going for the pale blue, that looks nice!
Another goodun, Jody. I've had my eye on this Mandala for months now and seen some great reviews. Personally the salmon dial does NOTHING for me. The grey/gilt and green/gilt look STUNNING. The blue also is an option, but in my view would have looked way better with the gold hands and indices. The handset looks familiar, though. I am wearing a Mido multifort as we speak with what looks like the exact same handset. I will be grabbing a couple of these when the Kickstarter campaign gets underway, I made a prediction to Peter a couple of days ago that these watches will 'fly out the door' and funding for the project will be met within the hour (NOT the second hour!). Hope I haven't put the hex on it! Cheers G
Really nice watch, but for me it would be on another level, if lost the grey, push the chapter ring to the very edge, which would make the dial a little larger
Very nice but way too small again for my 7.5’’ wrist. Microbrands should do 2 case sizes more often like Straton, you get to cover a wider range of buyers
That's proper stunning, Love it! Wouldn't go for pink myself, tho it does look good. Only vague criticism is logo looks a bit like Victorinox, but I do like it. Will definitely keep an eye on these, hopefully furlough will be ending soon and I will be back to work so will be back in the market again. 🤞🏻 Lovely watch, Cheers mate 👍🏻👍🏻

Brilliant design. Brilliant review. Thanks Jody!
Nicely done...the salmon a d light blue are my favorite.
4,8,12. Well that's not what you'll see everyday. Brilliant.
Wow really splendid watch!!!
what a gorgeous piece .. gonna order mine right now! thanks for the review
👍 Very nice, green and gold. 😊
Beautiful watch. I already have the Gin Clear and Peter did an excellent job with that one. I have no doubt that this will be a winner too.
That’s one nice watch. I happen to like all that’s going on there. Thanks Jodi. Would’ve never known about this without you.
That intro music with the "ohm" was a riot!! :D

Wow! Amazing timepiece! A kind of Miami Vice style! I have a jacket very close in color :) All I want to say: I want one :)
Miami Vice in salmon pink, for sure.

Love the derails on the dial and how it carries into the rotor too. Think the salmon is definitely the way to go with this one.
Very nice looking watch. With the salmon dial, it looks great on a leather strap.
Those added indices at 12, 4 and 8 looks incredible!

I love it! It kinda looks like the Tudor 1926. I’m looking for an everyday, all situation watch and this maybe a good option. Thanks Jody!

Pretty excited for this one and just might go for it.
this brand has some insane value for the money: unique look, luxury level finishing, and nice movements what else can you ask for
Polished scratch prone bezel, but has a scratch resistant coating, woohoo, so thumbs up from me.
Yes I have it's called the Seiko Coaktail time "Mojito" about the same price but with the Seiko brand name. But I must say the Mandala looks awesome!

Jody - pagani no time to dive, bezel insert doesn’t align with bezel scallops - worth popping it off and removing/realigning bezel?
