There’s one thing you forgot to mention (unless I just missed it): the game itself is extremely beautiful and joyful to play, but what makes it an even better game is how much thought has been put in every single move of each character, for the real fans of the anime it’s unbelievably detailed. It’s not just the supers, it’s just every single move (be it normals or specials) that really captures the essence of each character. I don’t remember a previous DragonBall video game capturing this as well as this one. And yes, like many others here in the comment section, I hadn’t been playing fighting games since Tekken 4 back in the day, and even then I only played it casually with friends, FighterZ got me hyped about the whole FGC scene and I love playing this game online for some competition (despite the netcode)

It’s amazing how DBFZ is also a Pad-friendly fighting game! I was actually skeptical buying this game, because I thought for a fighting game you definitely needed an arcade stick but WOW! Did this game prove me wrong! DBFZ actually got me into this great community and I’m thankful!
I've never had so much fun and interest while watching a fighting game before. I literally watched all 12 hours of the world tour last year and was heavily invested in every match, even with all the goku gt's and ssj gokus running around. Fighterz I think is so great in heavy part to the community it has on the competitive side.
The only thing that I don’t like about the design of the Ridge wallets is that the actual cash at the back isn’t very well protected, a single clip to hold it isn’t safe and could easily fall out and or get pick-pocketed
I was indifferent to fighting games until playing Fighterz earlier this year, I've since played Guilty Gear, Blaz Blue, Street Fighter, UNICLR, and hell i even bought that power rangers fighting game, i can't get enough now
Played only Smash and FighterZ (and like 5 minutes of street fighter but that doesn't count cause I didn't know what I was doing) when I played smash, I had fun with smash. When I played FighterZ, I had so much more fun, went to go watch DBZ, and now want to buy more fighting games. It's my favorite so far. It looks so good, the gameplay is so good and fun, the music is so good, and playing with friends is fun and hilarious. I love this game
I run several local tournaments and besides smash, a single games DOESNT COME CLOSE to the hype and gathering of fighterz. Everyone is trying to learn their favorite characters, speculate whose the next dlc and frankly just get more people in the FGC as you said.
Never have I ever been as enthusiastic for watching prediction, breakdown and wish list videos for any game except FighterZ Truly, it's the GOAT of FGC rivalled only by Tekken 7
2 years later... Still one of the highest rated games... IMO the most important Dragon Ball game to date cuz it gathered respect from both Dragon Ball games community and Fighting games community... The only DBZ game that was trying to do such thing was Super Dragon Ball Z
I still remember I bought the first Guilty Gear in the nineties just because the cover reminded me a little of Dragon ball (I didn't know about this anime style that dragon ball was also a part of). But that game was the one that made me into fighting games! Now with more then 30 years old and knowing that a dragon ball game would be made by that one company.... Made me a happy kid again! Still playing... TO THIS DAY!
I second that statement. Then again by default it is, because it’s the only one I’ve ever played. Unless you want to count Smash, but idk if that counts
FighterZ, like a lot of people, brought me into fighting games. I always liked them, but it was the first one that got me to make that competitive click. And I think one of the big reasons was that every special move was a quarter circle, something that people complained about a lot when the game was first coming out. I think that if FighterZ implemented the input schemes from Granblue at launch, it would've been a killer. I personally think that the future of fighting games is the choice between simple inputs and motion inputs and FighterZ is a big stepping stone in that direction.
This is the first fighting game I ever purchased after Storm 4. Never touched another fighting game except MK at a friends house a few times. To have a fighting game on my own and invest in it. This is a great game. I love it and my main 2 are surprisingly Kefla and Videl!
I wish they would pump out more updated content. I would happily keep paying for dlc, new maps, costumes, hub customizations, I know they take a lot of time to make good characters. If they could send a bunch of other smaller easier updates it would be great for a game people have been playing seriously for so long
I love this game to death. I bought all season passes and it's my first fighting game ever and im currently a super saiyan blue in ranked i'm actually pretty good. But after about 450 hours of unviable characters, constant 9 frames matches (i live in Chile) and stupid blockstrings i think i'm actually getting tired and i'll drop it when gg strive comes out. But it was such a ride, i got it on christmas 2018 and helped me go through 2019 which was the worst year of my life. So yes i'm grateful, but all things must come to an end. By the way, UI Goku killed a big part of the game for me, he's incredibly cheap and makes every other character a bit less viable on his own. He is the one thing that made me drop the game for quite a while and i can already see how the next three characters are going to be pretty mid tier if not gogeta tier (massive disappointment for a stupid awesome character)
@@masonicblastr gt was super powerful and a little bit broken imo, he had the advantage in pretty much anything that's true, but to me it never felt cheap. However i feel like ui goku is just poorly designed. Whereas gt could be nerfed easily by tweaking minor things here and there, ui has things that cannot be nerfed, since it's his moveset what is so broken. Even if you nerf the damage he has gamebreaking mechanics such as qcb+L which makes combo extensions with assists super easy, almost unreactable attacks, wake up exclusive option that if you whiff you can go into a counter super, an invincible DP that again, if whiffs can lead into a counter super.m, etc, it's just a really broken character that plays by his own rules
@@bachocoshanie1614 You can only really punish it on the ground.. and if they're close enough some character's down heavys are missing lol. You can reflect it though. But if you're in the air you just half to block it unless you have UI, Hit and air level 3s.. You should just have more ways to punish it, or make have a cooldown if you do in a non-combo. Plus you can call in assist to keep the pressure going after it, but can't call an assist during a DP anymore?! In a team base game🤦♂️BBTag has that problem with DPS too though, but to be fair DPs in that isn't a motion 😂.
@@swaglish1415 I don't play Rank regularly, but usually every time I pick it back up I end up ranking up or getting a ton of points that day. Currently at Super Saiyan Rose and half way to Pride Trooper

No, seriously. I had a Top 10 favorite games of all time. And that list rarely changed when I entered my 20's. I FUCKING LOVE this game. Maybe I'm biased because Im a Dragon Ball Fan. But it literally is the perfect Dragon Ball game. Now it's top 3.
Fax, I was never a huge dragon ball fan, like I watched it when I was a kid BUT I am really into fighting games and this is one of the best out there hands down
I finally picked up the game in February (after having not played a fighting game since tekken 2!!!) and I can’t believe how much I love it. I’m obsessed. I managed to make it to Super Sayian 3 rank and am getting better!
@@lolburgur4904 I mean, anything that isn't an arena game is a contender. I know there is guilty gear but it's not exactly a show or anything other than a game
This by far my favorite Fighting Game and Dragon Ball game of all time. Unfortunately, I don't have a PC, I don't have Parsec, and I don't have many friends able to come over and play offline. And as for those who are able to come over I have gotten so good at the game that they just can't compete. I am lucky enough to have my discord server and another discord server that keeps me in contact with 70+ players in the Xbox Community who I can play some matches with. I love this game, but for the thousands of players who don't have the luxury of playing offline, Arcsys needs to fix this netcode. Again, this game is one of the best fighting games of all time period. But this can't continue.
Globku hit the nail on the head when he said DBFZ is easy to get into especially with the auto combos and super dashes. It is annoying in fighting games where the fighters are throwing random hits in order get the neutral when in FighterZ one could close the gap immediately and use auto combos to gain an advantage for newcomers and veterans
One of the top reasons of why it's an obvious GOAT is cuz its a fighting game WITH Dragon Ball characters. People didn't realize that this is what they needed cuz we had been treated with mediocre at best video game adaptations of the DB and we never knew that the most flashiest action franchise in all of pop culture arguably could have made such an impact in the gaming industry. Truly, Arc System Works and FighterZ have changed the FGC for the best
Honestly a 3v3 team fighter is more akin to Naruto rather than Dragon Ball. I mean the whole team aspect goes throughout the series. They can literally copy and paste the mechanics from DBFZ and make a Naruto "Fighterz" so I yea Bandai I need it ASAP.
You can pick up the controller for the first time and make your friend whos been playing for a while rage viciously. At the same time you can be an ssb evolved player hopping into your next match with cockiness, and get swept by a team of low-tier (if you consider any of the characters well below average) or an uncommon team. Gotta love the balancing. Imagine getting a glimpse of Fighterz as a kid!!
It is my favorite fighting game of all time but i'm new to the community and fighterz is the reason i'm into the fighting game community now so i can't say its the best as confidently as you did but its my favorite one i've ever played for sure
So happy to hear someone feeling the same as me. This game is my kid dream come true. Best gameplay and best looking fighting game I’ve ever experienced. Keep up with the awesome content in your channel. Cheers, love from Vancouver ❤️
I started playing fighting games properly in 2018, starting on Tekken 7 and Injustice 2. I never gave much thought to trying out other games because of how entertained those games kept me, after all I'd grown up playing those types of mashy games like Tenkaichi 3, so those games gave me a lot of content. One time when I was browsing PSN, I saw DBFZ on sale and bought it for a laugh. This was in September 2019, a week before Gogeta came out. I have since clocked just over 500+ hours on DBFZ and just recently got to Super Saiyan Rosé. Learning this game's system mechanics and characters was an amazing experience and has allowed me to delve deeper into the FGC and fighting games as a whole! I genuinely haven't been able to go back to another fighting game since!
The thing that is also nice about fighterz is how it's very friendly to newer players as well. As long as you even know auto combos you can win lol, of course there is some technical stuff but it isn't needed to win
FighterZ is the second best looking game. In my opinion, kakarot is slightly better. Although FighterZ looks just like a polished version of the anime, kakarot goes beyond that.
Dragon ball fighterz got me back into fighting games as a whole. Before that, the only fighting games I've played were xenoverse and smash, I eventually stopped playing those games, and haven't played any new fighting games since then, until i found fighterz. I saw this game, and it brought out that fighting game itch in me, I wanted to play that game, and then after that, I got a ps4 last Christmas, and bought it as soon as i could get on the ps store, and have played it ever since. I've seen a few new fighting games that I really want, like my hero one's justice 2, and blaze blue fantasy versus, that I would've passed by if it wasn't for this game. This game really changed me, and I'm glad it did.
DBFZ was my introduction to 2D competitive Fighting Games and the FGC in general. I tried many other games but no game can make me as excited while playing as FighterZ
I got into fighting games with this game. I got it at launch thinking I can mash my way to victory, but I got whooped. Dropped the game thinking its trash. 8 months later got back on and tried learning and fell in love. And here I am. My favourite game of all time
I still think the 3d version of dragon ball z games is much better than 2d. I would take xenoverse over fighterz any time of the day, same for budokai tenkaichi over budokai
New Frame Plus did an amazing video on how Arc System Works does animations, such a simple idea created two of the best visually appealing video games.
I played KoF 2002 for decades on mexico at arcades, since then only played arena fighting games cause I cant afford a fighting stick for my pc...but with fighterz I decided to try a controller for 2d fighting games...and it got me hard into FGC again!. Over 3k matches and 900hrs in record, and still going.
I do agree with fighterz being the best fighting game but it is also personal to me since it was the first fighting game I tried playing sort of competitively. I've played MvC with friends but we'd just camp each other using supers because none of us knew anything about knockdowns, plus or minus frames or even combos. Fighterz was a first time experimence and I am one of the people who god into fighting games just because of fighterz. So I do appreciate it a lot for that. And I too hate the net code but I think that any fighting game can't be the same when played online since the connection can never be instant
While dbfz isn’t my personal favorite fg, it is the game that got me into fighting games at all. I distinctly remember I went to an arcade in 2017 before fighterz came out and got bored because they mostly just had fighting game cabinets and I had zero interest. I think all I had played at that point was injustice on my playstation. Now, I get hyped for arcades no matter what kind of fighting game it is. Tekken is so fun to watch, learning hard street fighter combos is so satisfying, etc. the big thing Dbfz is missing for me is the level of depth and connection you can get with a single character, but is undeniably fun to watch and fun to play.
I was just playing fighterz and thinking the exact same thing. I really don't get people that call it "just another anime fighter" cuz its defo not. It's such a flashy spectacle of a game that arcsys made and true to the source material. I really hope to see fighting games that are as unique as dbfighterz.
The last fighting game I played for more than a couple weeks before FighterZ was Soul Calibur 2 for the GC. While I got the game because a couple of people in a discord I go to talked about it a lot (though from a competitive standpoint for the most part), what kept me playing and getting the DLC was that it does feel a lot more beginner friendly than others I've tried a bit over the years. Heck, I enjoyed story mode, though more for the optional scenes you could find (Nappa had the best ones for the most part, though Vegeta's final link event one was very good too IMO). A lot of what kept me playing was the auto-combos and the ease of execution of specials that makes it easy to look cool.
DBFZ is the best fighting game beginner friendly, simple, deep, rewarding, visually astonishiong, the balance is okay and there's no single bad character in the game. Even an amateur can watch high level play and enjoy + you already are familiar with characters... its the best
The game's reveal in E3 2017 was the hypest shit. You could clearly see ASW saying "I'm going to end this man's whole career" to MvCI. Also the constant reveal of characters leading to the game's release helped a lot. The base roster was a great selection of characters
DBFZ is a life changer for me. I'm not sure if DBFZ the best because this is the ONLY fighting game I'm truly playing. I played fighting games (Xmen VS Streetfighter, Rival Schools, MVC2) but I really never learned any combos, system mechanics, or frame advantages. I've never watched any fighting game tournaments, nor do i know EVO or even FGC for that matter. For me fighting games were just like brawler games. But because of DBFZ, it opened me to the real world of fighting games. I studied the characters, I learned combos, I took notes, I practiced in the training room, watch combo videos, and even watch tournaments. And because of DBFZ, I competed in the World Tournament (failed miserably) but I had fun. Even had a pic with Fenritti. Then I also bought an arcade stick. It's truly an infulence. And because of DBFZ, I got to know you, DotoDoya, Rhymestyle, LotusAsakura, rooflemonger, and all those top tier players in the tournament.
Before DBFZ, i was just grinding on SFV as Laura and stuck playing Xenoverse 2 and Storm 4. Now since i bought it two years ago, i never played any other fighting game besides BBTAG(cuz i love RWBY) and took my skill in it seriously
I always loved fighting games since I was little so it's definitely nice to have a game that my friends can get into as well besides the cheese fest that is most other anime fighters like jump force.
My biggest gripe with fighterz is the controls, let's say you want to go into a level 2 to end your combo, but the d-pad just says "nah, don't feel like it today"
In DBFZ2 I want them to inject a budokai3 system of transformation that add/replace 1 special move per transformation and each transformation is unlocked by completing a specific combo in game
No offense to dragon balls but every character really fights the same. Every character has super strength, speed, flight, and can shoot beams.Of course there r exceptions like Hit. But the fact that arc was able to make a game where all of the characters play differently while still making them feel like the characters is impressive.
The game that got me into fighting games was Naruto Ultimate ninja 3 when I was 10 (I'm 18 now). I used to play that with my brother every day not even to win but just to have fun. Not many games will give you that feeling of just dumb fun anymore sadly.
I disagree with saying the games would just stop coming out without making them more accessible. It's harder to keep the production values going up, but we're at a point where sprite-based and 3D games all look good even on relatively low budgets (Fantasy Strike, Fighting EX Layer, Melty Blood). I do hope new venues for accessibility do come up with time, though.
I used to play fighting games casually with my cousins just to have fun playing 2 player game and if it wasnt for fighterz I wouldn't have known how much I love playing fighting games and getting better at them! It will always have a special place in my heart! That said,my favorite fighting game so far is gg xrd rev 2! Its just awesome.
I've played fighting games since I was a kid and have always enjoyed them, but I never really took the time to actually fully learn the mechanics, actual combos, notations, or fighting game terminology, Fighterz is actually the first game that made me want to "git gud" and made me go back to the og series' like street fighter and tekken and branch out to other fighting games like guilty gear and unist, honestly Fighterz opened me up to the fighting game community as a whole and I've loved it, I just need to stop getting angry when I lose and just enjoy and learn from players that are better than me
I would not have started playing fighting games if dragon ball hadnt gotten me into it. I bought it after watching maximillian try it, and practiced for an hour to build a basic combo with auto combo. I was painfully bad, but now i know combo paths for every characther in the game. And after max stopped playing, i watched KnowKami, Jmcrofts, Doto doya and your channel to get better. Now im trying old Snk games, guilty gear and street fighter to get better at neutral
I agree. This game was the first fighting game I ever played (Apart of smashbros) And this make me learned about combos Block strings, techs, specials, and commands This is the best fighting game I ever play'd
DBZ abridged was the only Dragonball I had seen/played before this game and I hadn't really played many traditional fighting games either, but this game looked good enough to get me into both of those things.
I highly disagree but I think this genre has someone for everyone. There is a fighting game or games for you. And when you find it, it's awesome. Hope you all go on a ride of a lifetime of wins, loses and YO DID THAT JUST DID THAT? moments.
Not gonna lie. 100% thought this was gonna be a a bait and switch but I'm glad it was a very thorough explanation of your thoughts on the game. And after some thought I kinda gotta agree. Some won't just because "this game had better mechanics or net code or balancing (or I'm butt hurt)" but with everything combined and how the game is seen yeah this game is up there.

He said dbfz is the best dragon ball fighting game what about budokai tenkaichi 3 that is still the best dragon ball game it was made by god
Dbzf is pretty ok
Afrouchiha23 Xl no. Fighterz is way better. Bt3 is really copy-paste while everyone character plays different.
Never have I ever been as enthusiastic for watching prediction, breakdown and wish list videos for any game except FighterZ
Truly, it's the GOAT of FGC rivalled only by Tekken 7
Smash counts, it's a platform fighter but a fighter all the same
Ngl, i'm new to the game and don't know jack shit, but also main playing dbfz too in 1mil BP rank. So as a Dbfz player, Smash is pretty dang fun imo.
I completely agree, it has been the only fighting game that has got me engaged for so long
FighterZ, like a lot of people, brought me into fighting games.
I feel like the more you play the game the more you get better specialiy when it comes to fighterz so yeah and l love this game
Tenkaichi 3 was legendary dude
This is the first fighting game I ever purchased after Storm 4. Never touched another fighting game except MK at a friends house a few times. To have a fighting game on my own and invest in it. This is a great game. I love it and my main 2 are surprisingly Kefla and Videl!
Storm 4 isn't a Fighting Game, it's an Arena Fighter. There is a big difference between the two genres even though both of them are about fighting.
"Brought to you by this imaginary friend of mine"
Missed opportunity. Should've edited in Rinnegan's head
Imagine having an invincible wake up option, even on hard knockdowns 😭
Agreed
I thought the broken Goku GT would have done it for you lol
I main Gogeta and he does have really good stuff it’s just his data is trash
It's in my top 3 with Mortal Kombat 2011 and Street Fighter Alpha 2.
I love dbfz, but super dash and some EX moves de-emphasize neutral, and the netcode is nothing to brag about.
I hope they will give us rollback net code, like why Japanese developers can't implement it?
What's wrong with super dash? You can always block it or punish it
@@vovabars1234 Probably until the sqeual tbh.. Strive is getting it so the next Sqeual will definitely have it.
@@shyecity916 Fair enough. Still, i think they are great tools , but thanks for answering!
Only globku can make these amazing transitions from a good intro, to suddenly an ad sponsor that works with it.
I highly Agree! My first Fighting game and I've been playing it since day 1!!!
What rank are you? Sorry if that sounds rude
@@swaglish1415 I don't play Rank regularly, but usually every time I pick it back up I end up ranking up or getting a ton of points that day. Currently at Super Saiyan Rose and half way to Pride Trooper
Imagine a bleach game getting a DB Fighter z treatment😩
God please!
next game should be fighterz vs bleach universe
for at least 1 consolle bleach game, we need to see if the new anime will get enough views
Or Hunter X Hunter or One Punch Man
I love this game, I played tekken, Injustice and MK before but this was the first game to really get me invested in the genre
Just hope other anime got as much justice in their games
Insert anime between "The" and "Fighting", and there you go.
DBFZ is the anime fighting game of all time????
@@lolburgur4904 I mean, anything that isn't an arena game is a contender. I know there is guilty gear but it's not exactly a show or anything other than a game
@@clutchcake7717 Stoem 4 is a solid arena game imo

Honestly never had such fun with a game, bought it like 2 months ago and I have like 80 hours on it in local
My friend literally doesn’t like dragon ball, but he LOVES this game. It’s just amazing how a fighting game can bring multiple communities together.
"hello?" - my reaction to seeing this video pop up
It is my favorite fighting game of all time but i'm new to the community and fighterz is the reason i'm into the fighting game community now so i can't say its the best as confidently as you did but its my favorite one i've ever played for sure
So happy to hear someone feeling the same as me. This game is my kid dream come true. Best gameplay and best looking fighting game I’ve ever experienced. Keep up with the awesome content in your channel. Cheers, love from Vancouver ❤️
Merci pour cet hommage, Globku !
Bardock B
Best comment.
My favourite game of all time
Am I the only one that misses UMvC3? I'm not even good at fighting games and that game is special to me
Completely agree, As a kid i grew up playing so many great fighting games. DBZF got me back into fighting games... I simply love it!
Arc system just made something great with a LOT of love. It has become normal now. But never forget the references in almost every animation.
i’ve watched this video 3 times already, this is your best video of all time glob
I still think the 3d version of dragon ball z games is much better than 2d. I would take xenoverse over fighterz any time of the day, same for budokai tenkaichi over budokai
It ain't the best fighting game until Gregory is here
I mean Extreme Butoden came out after Burst Limit and is probably the reason there's a FighterZ in the first place.
I want more Anime fighterz like db fighterz. Its so good. With rollback of course.
Dbfz has the best combos because of all the mechanics you can implement in a combo, the most optimal combos, longest, and most hits
Thank god fighter exists, cuz i just can’t with xenoverse 2’s graphics
Vitamin Z = Goku + Globku
The first time I did not expect this game to catch me so quickly but I gave a fight and became obsessed with it
DBFZ is the best fighting game
beginner friendly, simple, deep, rewarding, visually astonishiong, the balance is okay and there's no single bad character in the game.
Tbh honest honest...this is the first 2D fighter style title that actually Iearned. How to juggle and continue my combos. I actually have fun now
Tekken 7 was the fighting game that got me more involved in the FGC and I didn't regret playing it one bit.
Just imagine if arc made jump force...
No offense to dragon balls but every character really fights the same. Every character has super strength, speed, flight, and can shoot beams.Of course there r exceptions like Hit. But the fact that arc was able to make a game where all of the characters play differently while still making them feel like the characters is impressive.
Tekken 5 is my personal favorite fighting game. That game smacks
Fax
Same, my personal favorite of Tekken is 4. Me and my brothers played that non-stop
Agree. I remember playing it like a mad man on my PS2
Imagine Naruto fighterZ... the game would be one of the best if bandonamco made it.
I want to play as Madara and Itachi with the FighterZ graphics so bad.
Give me a Bleach Guilty Gear with traits from injustice
Now I would agree but The jojo fighting game on fightcade is the most fun I’ve had since marvel 2
I agree.
This game was the first fighting game I ever played
(Apart of smashbros)
And this make me learned about combos
Block strings, techs, specials, and commands
This is the best fighting game I ever play'd
