It's actually kinda 50/50 since the start of this game's DLC history. For Broly and Bardock, Broly wasn't the strongest while Bardock was and still is among the best characters. Zamasu and Vegito. Vegito was really good then got nerfed and Zamasu was alright but needed some help at the time. Goku and Base Vegeta was actually pretty good from the jump and Base Vegeta was actually dumb from the jump and got toned down shortly after and Base Goku was kinda niche but fun and solid. Android 17 and Cooler was definitely hyped up especially 17 with the black panther wall jump and reka. And then 17 went right to being niche and Cooler was actually really good with lots of damage who got his assist nerfed. Jiren and Videl got hyped up then both shortly fell to bottom tier eventually. Janemba was strong but under explored and GT Goku was OP from the jump and ran the game for almost a year. DBS Broly and Gogeta was hyped up alot, especially from so many seeing the movie and they are fun to play but we eventually saw the flaw with Gogeta with him being unsafe and needing better frames and to a degree with Broly but he was still in between mid and high. Kefla was hyped up and she almost lived up to it but people then fell back to characters like Bardock and Gohan and others. UI Goku looked strong from the jump and was strong and is still strong to the point where we expect him to get toned down slightly in the upcoming patch. We will see with Roshi tho. All in all it's a mix bag in terms of certain characters living up to pre release hype and what they did once they released. Some lived up and saw lots of play after the hype died down while others fell down fast after. Also forgot to point out that bigger characters pre season 3 like Broly, Janemba, Cooler etc wasn't played alot because they were so big and we had a fuzzy problem for a long time and it caused some people from not playing certain characters simply because of the fuzzy factor until they removed that in season 3

There’s a reason he’s called MASTER Roshi.
In japan he is called muten roshi which means turtle or hermit master so in English he is basically called master master.

Globku absolutely nailed it on the move set prediction, everything from the wind punch to super dash
There really is something special about Roshi and honestly it does seem like we should have more unorthodox characters like him. Not too many, but it is great to see what the gave him in spite of his alterations that the best of the cast has.

I don't see it happening. People said the same thing about Gogeta and look where that went. Having everything doesn't really equate to being good.

Its gonna be roshi paradise the first few days. The test of time will reveal the real roshi mains.
The difference between him and gogeta though is that Roshi actually seems like he'd require some lab to be used optimally instead of having a bunch of canned single input combos.
Roshi's got some weird buttons, so is suspect he wont be everyone's cup of tea.

Props to Arc Sys for showing us that the dlc really didn't peak with UI Goku. Can't wait to see the final 2 characters

@@rushplus9696 it's not bad. The fact that you can cancel Master's leap into reverse Kamehameha leads to a lot of mixup potential, or you can Master's leap at the opponent, and punish them for trying to 2h by doing reverse Kamehameha to retreat.

Gonna just hibernate for half a week while learning this character. I thought UI Goku was cool but he didn't grab me enough, but this is different. this is Roshi.
He looks... so CLEAN !!! I don’t even like FighterZ that much for how casual it is but I’m gonna come back to it just to play my favorite turtle hermit. Roshi will be mained no matter what. The no Super Dash jump doesn't even look bad ya'll just weanies... This excites me even more!! 🐢

The super jump makes sense cause the characters use Ki to slow their descend. He can't fly therefore he won't have super jump float since it's essentially the same thing.

2 grabs, insane 50/50, easy side switch, decent damage, 46 frame assist, loops, so many combo extension moves. Bandai Namco: Sounds balanced.

Neat how during the showcase we only got to see about 40% of what was on the actual trailer. That woman just did not try something again after whiffing it. That level 1 was so sick and we never even knew.

I love how wild they’re doing these characters, ui and Roshi both have such interesting unique normals and I’m hoping this is a trend for future characters

He is gonna be the ultimate punish character. I mean if you read your opponent and somone develops a really damaging combo with roshi the match is gonna end really damn quick.

I hope they make a "what if" dramatic finish. Where he uses the containment wave on Merged Zamasu. Cause so far he would be one of the only characters in this game added to not get a dramatic finish against a popular opponent from Dbz, Dbgt or Dbs. If anyone it would need to be Merged Zamasu.

Base Vegeta: i'm the strongest there is

Master roshi has a yellow background colour, mui goku has silver bg colour, in the season 3 shop screen we can see a unreleased character with dark blue bg if the bg colour is based on the characters aura then that unreleased character should be ssbe vegeta. mui goku has silver hair=silver bg so ssbe vegeta has dark blue hair=dark blue bg.
When an old man is potentially one of the best characters in a fighting game.
They gave roshi no super dash but with two angles the lightning is gonna destroy wonky turn around straight from above sd.
So now we just need to make a team with Bardock's and Roshi's B assists to keep enemy blocking forever.

Piccolo mains rise up
Master Roshi is gonna be a great top tier character, but only at the highest level. That’s my prediction.
This upcoming patch is just begging me to get back into this game, giving my favorite characters the buffs they needed, Blugeta, Videl and Android 17. 17 is still iffy but the fact he can do his rekkas in the air to ground is sick as hell.
17/Videl works pretty well. I play 17/Videl/Yamcha and their assists and supers work decently well each other. E.g. their level 1s basically always combo into each other, and Videl's a assist is good for neutral pokes and comboing off rekka which 17 benefits from greatly
I really hope Wawa uses Master Roshi with Base Goku.
