After searching high and low for some info on installing a security light/camera under a soffit, I finally came to yours. Thanks for showing the correct way to do this. So many others clearly have no clue regarding electrical code and the use of junction boxes. (Yes, I found several videos where they just mounted directly to the siding with not junction box and the wire nuts just "floating" above the vinyl)
Thanks for the video , that’s my next home project
Hope you enjoy it!
This tutorial is great, thanks!
You're welcome!
Wow! Only video I found on how to start from scratch and you did this with so much ease and such great explanation!. We have an electrician coming to replace our traditional flood light with Ring Pro, but that spot is right next to the porch door, and not too high above ground. I thought intruders might just take out or destroy camera if within reach 😅. Therefore I was wondering if we could ask the electrician to create an outlet higher up, we have metal siding, but many won't even tell you the charge until they come to your place. Still debating coz am sure the price would be three times more than $195 (current price) 😅🤑🥵.
Really enjoyed the tutorial on installing light under soffit. Could you explain how you found your power in the attic? And how did you know which breaker to throw to avoid shock while tying into the junction box. Thanks
Such a amazing and professional job!! Very informative as well!.
Great tutorial. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for sharing. Very professional
You are very welcome

Great video! Do you have one for soffit lighting?
I have Motion Activated Security Light in my balcony and that one got a swtch to turn it off or on and the light installed on junction box . if i get power from the same junction box that the 1st light is installed on another junction box for the new Motion Activated Security Light which is gona be 6 meter away Do i still need another switch to control the second one or only the one that is already there is good for both
Thanks for the video! I drilled a hole but there’s no nearby studs or wood above so I’m not sure how to mount the electrical box 😬
Is there any wood under the soffit? If there is no wood then you will need to install a piece of wood between the roof rafters so you can screw in the electric box.
What is the tool you used to notch the holes?
It's called a unibit.
Hello, what size hole saw was used?
Sorry I think it was a 3 inch
HATE that fiberglass insulation. We have got to come up with a better way to insulate!
Thanks for watching
Cellulose insulation is shredded newspaper treated with boric acid to be fire retarded and pest resistant. It’s commonly blown in and can provide air sealing qualities when installed in an enclosed cavity and dense packed. Used a ton in retrofit for its low cost and ease of installation.

I liked the detailed video on installing a motion sensor light under the soffit. Can you please identify the brand and model of light used? Everything I look at doesn’t look as good as that one. Thank you!
