    when adding bolt ons, and putting it on a dyno without a tune specifically for those bolt ones, numbers aren't going to change, some bolts ons are required for example for a big turbo you're going to need a cobb cold air intake for more air flow because the stock one won't handle it. you're not adding a bolt onfor horse power. you're adding a bolt on to withstand the horsepower your tuner pushes your car too, stock charge pipes, intake, downpipe helps handle the horse power added its not giving it horse power, its adding it

    I just installed my JBR 3" intake. Seeing these results and hearing the change in my car, I'm perfectly happy with the results. I get the whoosh and flutter while still having a quick car that's mostly stock. Just got it in November (3 months -ish) and still love it. Gonna keep it mild but maybe do resonator delete and possibly different exhaust tips.

    To spend $250-$350 on a CAi on a stock FoST and stock turbo makes no logical sense. Yeah sure you'll get some cool intake noises but I digress. Your money could be better spent on something more beneficial like lighter wheels and stickier tires, FMIC, Downpipe, Catback Exhaust, Chassis Bracing, Suspension, Endlinks, Rear Sway Bar, RMM, Engine Mounts, Bigger Turbo..etc
    Closing argument, the factory tune, turbo and ECU can only handle and meter so much air. On a bigger turbo you MIGHT see some noticeable gains. On a side note, the factory intake/RS Air Box can handle 400hp with ease. If you're looking for a more aesthetically pleasing look under your hood, sure by all means buy an intake of your liking, just don't expect anything more than induction noise.
    I have had my 2018 FoST going on 3 years now and have yet to open my wallet and buy a CAi, I am still running my AEM Dry-Flow Air Filter and a FoRS Air Box lid. Going big turbo in the next few months or so, a tune and CPe 5.5 FMIC but as " science " has proven, money can be better invested elsewhere.

    Auto manufacturers put a lot of research in designing oem intakes. Even some of that extra tubing and chambers aren’t just for reducing sound, but to increase air flow under all conditions and reduce any cavitation. The only thing I’ve ever noticed was a slight lowering of intake air temps while stopped. Don’t think it was enough to affect power though. It they do look good under the hood and sound good,

      The stock vs catless won't make much difference on the same tune... As mentioned in these comments, the bolt ons allow for a more aggressive tune. The dp itself won't do much of anything, with the possibility of losing power..
      So what you're wondering is if a catless aftermarket downpipe and a supporting tune will make more power than a stock downpipe and stock tune- and the answer is, undoubtedly, duh.

    Forced induction over rides any cold side flow increases....15 PSI of boost is 15 PSI boost no matter how you get it. @DDDYLN Год назад

      @@BenLovrien I took a look at my K&N CAI today, for a completely different reason. The heat shield protects it from engine heat, and the cone filter is literally aimed directly at the 2nd Gen Xterra intake hole, which is in the wheel well. One part where K&N didn't do a good job, IMO, is that there's a large hole where the custom intake tube goes into the heat shield. That should be sealed off retaining part. For both cold air reasons, and vibration reasons. After 8 years, the bolt from the K&N bracket to the intake tube worked itself loose, and fell out somewhere on the road. There was a rattling sound at idle which concerned me, so I figured it out myself (the Nissan dealer was worthless). Modern, computer controlled engines, have the ability to adjust for air density and temperature coming from the intake. So, you're telling me that a non-restrictive air flow, with the intake aimed directly at the stock intake hole, won't yield any performance gains? I'm sorry, but they doesn't pass muster. These CAIs might yield less performance increases than the manufacturer's specs. However, I've seen an Xterra dyno video where they compare all the CAI brands, and compare them to stock. The increase in power is clearly evident.

There used to be a tuner chip sold for 2nd Gen Xterras & Frontiers. It had 3 modes if I remember correctly. It had a high MPG mode, a regular mode, and a high HP mode. I'm not sure if it's still sold. If you guys can install this stuff, and tune my Xterra for decent gains, I'm willing to travel a reasonable distance. It really depends on where you're located.

    Def not even close to the worst sounding 4 cylinders. Just a horrible exhaust on this car. The Ford 4cyl and especially the 4cyl T motors sound so good if you don’t cheap out and just hack mufflers/ resonators off or straight pipe. Not saying that’s what you’ve done. But that cannot be a good reputable exhaust manufacturer set up on that car. Sounds NOTHING like my ST with a magnaflow

    • @Faydurr
      @Faydurr 2 года назад

      Also an intake alone on a booster motor really makes no difference. It’s all about IAT’s. The factory Airbox flows plenty air. The benefit of a aftermarket is tuning for more airflow and therefore more fuel. But you’re compressing that air so fast it’s heating up so it really only comes to a good front mount setup. Also. Please ditch that horrendous exhaust.. the ST deserves to sound deep, unique, throaty, poppy. Not like a Honda with a straight pipe and fart can.

    Driving forward forces more air into the intake than sat still
