  • "Do the baffles make a difference to the power?"
    #honda #s2000 #dyno
We are back with the Accelerate Honda S2000 to answer an age-old question, do cat back exhaust systems actually gain power?
Also, do the supplied "decibel killers" (exhaust baffles) affect the power output at all? Today, we find out!
A few months back, we dyno'd the S2000 in its standard form with some surprising results! If you haven't seen the video, check it out here: • How Much POWER Does A ...
The only modifications made to the S2k are the airbox mod and the M2 Motorsport cat back exhaust system. So, join us as we take a few dyno runs to compare the standard exhaust to the aftermarket one, with baffles in and baffles out.

I can't believe how much the baffles restrict it!

I could feel the baffles in my car when I had them in once for a track session so very interesting to see what they did to your car

Ah that's interesting, I bet they are even more restricted on a boosted car.

It's crazy how much the baffles restrict it! Nice video Drew👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I can t find the episode where the cat was removed. How many more hp did the car have without the catalytic converter?

Unfortunately, circumstances changed and I had to get rid of the car before I had chance to decat it 😞
      Thank you for watching!

Really interesting that your torque numbers stayed the same, but came on about 1,100 rpms sooner.

Well I'm surprised with the baffles being so restrictive but the s2k needs some aero on the back 🤣

You say "well documented on forums the exhaust is restrictive" I'm pretty sure it's only well documented the cat is restrictive, pretty sure everyone agrees the catback isn't restrictive at all and is only changed for noise not for power.
Also it's pretty well documented that these cars don't make factory power yet yours made more than that? I think that dyno is a bit optimistic :D

Hi. I would have to disagree with you in regards to the Dyno being optimistic. My EP3 ran 279 on the TTC dyno. Mine then went to BD Performance and pulled 282. Most exhaust systems are restrictive from factory being not as free flowing as an aftermarket Performance exhaust. The cleaner and less restricted the gasses can be removed, the better. Same as inlets. When they are ported and polished, the air flows quicker. It's crazy how much the baffles/inserts effects the flow.
      Thanks

I am basing my statement of the restricted exhaust on the fact that other S2000 owners have seen power gains by simply replacing the standard cat back system with an aftermarket one.
The dyno may well be "optimistic" but Kenny's Civic made 279bhp on this dyno, and 282bhp at BD Performance, so we trust it to give decent readings.

I didn't think it would affect it that much! Too bad it rattles your brain without them in the exhaust 😖
