While you have done a very nice job on this kit, there are a few... things you might wish to know. This kit is a very old kit dating back to the ?early 1970s.and it has a number of flaws, like over simplified details, raised panel lines, etc, but it still makes up into a nice model (I have 2!) Hasegawa recently (c 2002) released a 1/48 Hayate which is very nice indeed, with much better details and in several boxings. In New Zealand, where I am, it is also not commonly found at all, lately! The bigger problem is that, in the years since this kit was released by Tamiya, a LOT of updated information about the colour schemes has been uncovered from Japanese archives. ALL Ki-84 Hayates (AFAIR) left the Nakajima factory unpainted. It was up to the unit to paint the aircraft, and most either left it in bare metal, or only painted the top surfaces with Imperial Japanese Army Dark Green (Nakajima), either in patches or overall. The paint was easily worn or damaged because it was rarely if ever applied over a primer coat., reducing the paint's adhesion to the metal. In Japanese culture the Hinomaru (Red Sun circles) markings were considered to be a symbol of the Emperor and in the Shinto Religion, therefore sacred. Ground crews could be and were severely punished if they failed to immediately repair any damage or wear to the Hinomaru. (Usualy by a severe physical beating. No matter how damaged the rest of the paint was, the Hinomaru were ALWAYS almost perfect, as a result.
To be technically correct there is no cushion in the pilots seat because the pilots use whats called a seat pack parachute and the parachute was the pad they sat on.
