- This is the full timelapse build video of Tamiya's 1/48 Hyakushiki Shitei III Kai Air Defense Fighter. The Mistubishi Ki-46 was a twin-engine reconnaissance aircraft used by the Imperial Japanese Army in WW2. Allied nickname: "Dinah"
This was a fun and easy build. Built straight from the box, it took me 1 week to complete. There were barely any issues with the kit. Forgot to mention the pre-shaded effect was done by rubbing graphite dust along the panel lines of the model. Testors Dullcote was sprayed to seal the paint and the decals.

at first i thought, brush painting? no thanks, then i snapped out of my elitist attitude and realized that you're incredibly talented and just made a model with a paint brush better than i could with an airbrush. You sir are damn good builder
Yeah........It takes a better model builder to do a build with an old wanked out brush than with an airbrush.

Not only brush painting...but brush painting with some of the rattiest brushes I've ever seen...and somehow making it all work. Amazing. 😂
Great job! Good to see brush painting on RUclips. Hopefully it will encourage more modelers to take up the hobby by showing you don't have to buy an airbrush to get nice results.
Well that was very well done and the finished product was truly amazing. I've been building models for 40+ years and use all the equipment one can buy. Just goes to show what can be done with very basic modeling tools. Very very nice!

You know what amazed me, is that you hand painted the model and it came out perfect, as if you had either airbrushed or spray painted, great job!!!!

Great! Finally using a hand brush will result in a great finish comparable to an air brush. Just as importantly, only brush those areas seen; that’s very practical. Great job!

Lovely kit, one of my favourite aircraft. Great use of the 'hairy stick'. Only crtisism is make the seat belts a little thinner and try and paint some buckles onto them. But otherwise a lovely build

I see that you did preshading with oil paints that’s what I did on my willys jeep but that’s my first car kit I usually do planes

Excellent chipping and weathering. Have you tried one of the cheap Chinese knockoff airbrushes? I have one and like it/use it just as much as my Iwata Eclipse HP-CS.

Why did you left out the 37mm cannon barrel (clearly visible in the instructions), although you built the within rear cockpit part (~2:30-2:60) of the cannon? Does not make sense.

Which green did you use for the plane
I´ve just finishing my F4U 1/48 from Revell. I have a problem. After my Vallejo Air colours I´ve airbrushed a layer of gloss varnish (Vallejo), which i mixed with Vallejo Thinner. On some areas the gloss-varnish peals of like skin after a sunburn. Can anybody be so kind to tell me where is the reason for my problem?

The white came out nice for brush painting.
SCIGS30 I used model master acryl for the paint. The white paint actually needed a lot of coats to cover up the bottom layer. Thanks for watching :)

I bet the white MM acrylic took a lot. If the entire bottom was white are you able to brush it on and look ok? If so how many coats?
SCIGS30 it took me around maybe 6 or 7 coats to get it completely white but it really clogs up the panel lines.
Old school model building by hand painting..couldn't do it any more my ocd would kick in overtime with the brush marks lol but good job

Only thing I disliked is you not taking care of the horrendous seamlines on the landing gear legs. Other vise nicely brush painted build.
Why do you wipe alcohol on the model before paint application? Does it act as a primer?
michaelsscalemodels no it just cleans everything off so the paint can stick properly :)
