I'm almost tearing up with that music and those incredible inflight views. With Aussie borders closed for so long it really bring home how sad the whole lockdown has been. Fingers crossed things are improving, though, and borders will open up next year. Thanks Paul!
Thanks for reuploading this one - those views were simply stunning and well worth another look. And that wing tip!!!!! Also a great reminder of what flying once was and hopefully soon will be again!
Cheers mate, although I'd argue that the voice over allows you to enjoy the views rather than have to quickly read the text and then check out the views? :)
Great to be in the air again! ... some nice engine spooling up audio with take off from Hong Kong, some spectacular sunset and then sunrise colours , visuals of mouth watering desserts (1st, 2nd and 3rd's!) and then a great descent into beautiful New Zealand. Thanks again Paul.
Well that was a fantastic video, worth watching just for the wonderful scenery and fantastic sunrise let along the airplane review! The music added to the atmospheric quality of the viewing.
Cheers! I agree - the window views on this flight were some of the best I have ever experienced which was one reason why I wanted to re-edit and launch in 4K. :)
Man missed flying, the last time I fly Cathay Pacific was me and my family transiting Hong Kong from the Philippines to Auckland and that was in January 2018. Good times
@@PaulStewartAviation Mate. Made my evening here in New York. Between Covid and the political situation in Hong Kong (my Hong Kong born husband and son until recently called home) not sure if I will ever ride with CX again.
I absolutely NEVER get tired of your videos Paul! Amazing scenes and witty commentary remind me why I love to travel. Thanks for keeping the dream alive, mate!
Wonderful production Paul. I remember when this was first uploaded and you've only improved it. It's a nice reminder of better times while the east coast of Australia has gone into lockdown.
Hey! I don't know if you are even going to see this comment, but that was a great video! Thank you. By the way, there is a simple way to skip the advertising during whatever you choose to watch on the flight. All you have to do is use the video progress bar on the bottom, like on youtube, to skip past the ads. I figured this out on my own a350 flight.
When I saw this I was like .. what?!!! You managed to sneak out and fly somewhere? Hehe... anyway it's fine to watch these over again and reminisce about a time when things were normal. I know what you mean about crew being hit or miss. I felt that when I flew CX from Hong Kong to Los Angeles. When I did Singapore to Los Angeles in Singapore Airlines, the crew were nothing but fantastic. As my girlfriend and I sat watching movies whilst everyone else slept, this one FA kept sneaking us chocolate bars and fruit and topped it off with some instant noodles. This was in addition to the 3 inflight meals. I never walked off an aircraft feeling so full. Great service! They also took the time to talk to us and get to know us in between all the running around, which felt nice. Always love to see your videos! Thanks for the video Paul and greetings from Sri Lanka.
I like these business class seats, they give you a bit more privacy than other airlines’ business class seats. Nice video, I’d love to be on a Cathay flight some day!
Thanks for posting Paul. Sure hope this Covid thing goes away soon so we can see more. Really hope to visit your neck of the Earth someday in the future when things open up. Cheers!!
Awesome video Paul, great shots of the scenery and that magnificent wing and engine. Watching your videos makes me miss overseas travel so much......Cheers Paul. 👍🛫🛬

Last time I flew on that route was in 1995 on a Cathay Pacific Airways Boeing 747-300 from Kai Tak to Auckland. Although that was in ecconomy class not business as it was a full flight.
Just finished watching it. That bit where you said about talking in your videos. I did miss your witt and tongue in cheek jokes about our Yankee friends 😂 Stay safe Mr Air Vent
Hi Paul thanks for video yes I've had some crew like that some are very friendly others are a bit not so friendly sometimes it makes you feel uncomfortable. Anyway I don't let it worry me.
Just flew this the other day in business. Much nicer than on Swiss where we had older planes. I found the swiss business seat to be rather small and not as comfortable as Cathay. Cathay much quieter as well
Hi Paul Lovely video It is my first time flying business class from Melbourne soon. Is there any lounge I can access in Melbourne if I am only normal Qantas frequent flyer ?
Agree the zodiac business seat is good, but I find the angle of the pop-up armrest on aisle side very strange, and using it puts your arm where it can be bumped. Mind you I would suffer that right now for a long haul on CP to somewhere exotic. Is the music around the 8min mark same as in an airline ad? Seems very familiar.
the approach into auckland has changed a bit mainly after the turn so many more buildings, also so many aircraft at the airport than you see today (767 in the hangar and the dhl 757)
I think all of us are itching to get back into the skies! I know I am! I haven't been on a plane since January 2018 and the only flights I've been on are between Mexico and Los Angeles. I'm dying to try a long haul flight!
So strange not hearing you doing a commentary Paul. I have to say I much enjoyed it when you comentated. Beautiful aircraft with a very comfortable business class Catering on CX is well lets say passable. Being an Asian carrier and a well recognised one you think there would be at least an all Asian menu Never the less I would gladly fly CX Great vlog once again P.S.My birth country shore did put on a spectacular show from the air
Great work Paul. It is sad to realise that CX is no longer my preferred carrier for my Auckland to Hong Kong route. They really need to bring back the CX service standard. I would just stick with AirNZ, even with the dated business class. I wish we can have the TransTasman bubble reopened soon. Stay safe.
Thanks for the video Paul. I noticed that you previously had a video on A Cathay pacific trip from Hk to AKL that has Good music. I still think Cathay Pacific product is heaps better than Air New Zealand.
Beautifully produced video. Thank you! I see you mentioned that the "bed was made". Did you mean that the FA did that for you? I've flown long haul business class (YVR-HKG) with Cathay many times, including their A350-900 and the FAs have never made up the bed. Nor have I seen them doing it for any other passengers. Just curious. And I agree with you on the ridiculously long adverts before watching any video on the IFE. They're almost insufferable, especially so because they are invariably the same advert each time.
For a new A350 that upholstery looked a bit worn (looked like the footwell upholstery had "pulled" in a few places). Also CXs service even pre Covid was a bit hit and miss. They definitely have a newer, better seat that Air NZ but Air NZs soft product is miles ahead. Hopefully Air NZ will have used the travel hiatus to progress their J class refurb that was being worked on pre 2020.
@@PaulStewartAviation Yup, they are bad but a product of Air NZ buddying up with Virgin Atlantic at that time (codeshares, similar vibe, f&b ). God only knows why they put those herringbone seats on their new 789s but given they are traditionally quite innovative elsewhere I remain optimistic they will progress their refurb of J class. They are still on schedule, I think, to commence taking 787-10s so we'll likely see their new product unveiled then. But to do a retro upgrade, volumes of travellers have to justify the splurge. NZ is not located in the middle east. And right now seat design isn't high on anyone's priority, I imagine.
@@awaruaspirit8527 yes!! The 789 was the chance to update to a decent J seat! They must have been the only airline left ordering the herringbone seats from whoever makes them!!!
@@awaruaspirit8527 spot on. There is almost nothing worth mentioning on the herringbone seats…god knows how and why Virgin and AirNZ can value this product so much. Thankfully they finally wake up knowing this is the wrong product.
