Just be thankful this exists. Only 2 weeks of this version (mainly the episodes recorded in LA) still exist while everything else is either lost/destroyed. Same for the first 2 years of $20,000 Pyramid on ABC.
Wow, they sure were lenient in that bonus round. She did not get the key words on either of the last two subjects. The game had not yet been perfected.
Love seeing the legendary Ed Asner on here! Who would've thought that decades later he would still be working? He has been assuming the role of "Sid", Johnny's nasty stepfather on Cobra Kai.
Yes...the rules were far too lenient whereby arms and hands were used in the Winners Circle. If Ed had used his hands in later versions for THINGS THAT GO UP he would have been buzzed for sure.
63 years old, grew up with Dick Clark and wow, I love this show ! BUT this episode was one of the worst I’ve ever seen! Not only were the players quite slow and dense, but the producers must have really wanted to give away $10,000 that day! I have never seen more lenient judging. Maybe in the early days of the show, they needed more winners to build water cooler buzz and ratings, I guess.
Hysterical. A minute or two in, something funny happens, and Dick Clark, standing on the set with lights and camera and etc all around him, comments "I wish we recordsome of these snaswers and play it back for you"??????WTF was he thinking?
This game was within it's first year. And so for some reason they were allowed to use their hands. This would never be allowed in later versions of this game. Rightly so.

I saw Sandy Duncan in a later weeks worth of episodes, and she was so terrible at giving lists. She even used prepositional phrases as well, and the judge never buzzed her out!!!

He used his hands a lot and said "Sammy Davis Jr sometimes" which I thought for sure was illegal
Both of you took the words out of my mouth.
Last one should not have been given. "A button" would also have applied.
Yikes that was a mess. They would never have accepted that years later.
@@cg0825 This episode aired prior to them adding straps to the arms of the giver's chair.
Dick Clark RIP. Dick. We miss you at Times Square!
I love it when the stars are SO EXCITED LOL
The gameplay of the original run of the series could be incredibly brutal.

This version was too lenient.
I guess so
Judge made up for it years late
And they wanted 10 subjects in 60...
@@ericpregosin511 Especially when they moved to ABC.

....plus back then...the giver was allowed to use their hands ✋️ 🙌 to describe the subjects...
Do you have any episodes from late 1976?
The rules were much looser during this incarnation of The Pyramid. What a shame that most of the 70's run was wiped.
One of the worst episodes. Both contestants and celebrities were air headed and unsmart. Absolutely slow witted.
I still find that shocking that the judge accepted Things you Iron for THINGS YOU PRESS.😮😮
Absolutely love the show, but this is the worst-played one I've ever seen, by the guest stars and the contestants!
20:49 - This program was recorded. This is Jack Clark speaking.
“Stay tuned for Gambit next over most of these CBS stations.”
The lady who didn't win the big money seemed very nervous and anxious, unlucky...

Dolores oldest child, a 20 years old in 1973, is now 70 years old in 2023. Amazing thinking about that.
These players only averaged 4.5 correct answers per round.
What would you say for the category "Thin People"? Twiggy?
Anorexics

These players and celebrities are brutal game players
She never said the word PRESS, yet they gave it to her. This must be a very early incarnation!
She never said “dressing” only “salad”, and she never said “legal” either!

Rest in peace Ed Asner
Dick, Michael Strahan does you justice with the new $100,000 Pyramid!
Wow Gene looks a little bit like Paul Lynde
thats what i was thinking and Dolores looks like Brett Sommers
Never seen 11 points win as the preliminary game score after 3 rounds
There is an episode of $50,000 Pyramid with a game score of 10.
People got better at this over the years-cuz they really sucked at it back then!
The show was still in its infancy, man.
this show used to seem to move along so fast but now, the guy takes forever just to pick a category. That would never work now.
RIP Ed Asner
Dick Clark -- the goat
0:14 did he kick him in the face heh heh
I can not believe they gave her the money.
An early visit to the West Coast for the New York-based show.
Boy I can believe that this version don't have 7-11 and the mystery 7
The Big 7 bonus won't be played until Dec 1974

Notice that Dick does not mention that you can't use your hands to demonstrate the category.

What? The clue is things you press, she says something you iron and they take it?

Kind of painful to watch.
Hi
Embarrassing to watch this.
Sandy Duncan is horrible.
I saw Sandy Duncan in a later weeks worth of episodes, and she was so terrible at giving lists. She even used prepositional phrases as well, and the judge never buzzed her out!!!
