In the show, she plays Ernestine, a former head house servant who sacrificed everything to protect her children. Amirah Vann is SO intelligent, and brilliant in how she express her views.
I just became acquainted with her works in The Underground which she was superb in. I also see she's not underrated it was just me catching up on movies I missed. But she absolutely seems like she will be among those greats like Cicely Tyson, Diane Carroll, in their league.
A very brilliant actress, and singer.
I watched the whole 2 seasons, of The Underground in one day, and want to watch it all over again. I've watched many black history movies that were all good, but this one is about the best I've seen. I got a deeper understanding.

When my coworkers told me to watch....I was like hell naw, I don't want to see another slave series where they don't fight back. After watching the first episode....I'm hooked. This sister is beautiful and the bomb (ok I just told my age) I love her talent and I hope this show gets picked up.
I'm so proud of her and the work that the entire cast is putting in to convey OUR story. This is such a unique and authentically beautiful and lush telling of the story. There are so many layers to our history and I cannot wait to go deeper into the journey of how we survived and continue to thrive through this telling. Thank you, Amirah for creating such a complex and beautiful woman in Ernestine (my mother's name). I love you for that.

She plays the HELL...(I want to say another word that starts with a Friend but...) out of Stein, ain't no stopping her, ....I hope, When the show comes on I am so giddy, and scared at the same time it's crazy I'm in love with this show and I can't wait till Stein comes on, just what's going to happen next...cause it's like she said NO ONE'S SAFE. But if they take her off I don't know how committed I'll be to the show.

@Kea Did you see her on Queen Sugar last season finale? That was my introduction to Ms. Vann. In just that 3 minute performance, I was hooked. I immediately binge watched htgawm. Amirah is a powerhouse when it comes to acting.

let me say I am just discovering this series and sad to find out it was cancelled before I even got started watching it. I love the consciousness that governed it but the contemporary music throws everything off for me. But it does bring home the current state of our enslavement. Amirah much love. I appreciate your levels sunshine.
