When Nanachi cries out "M-my treasure....!" my heart just broke!
It's a shame nobody talks about this anime, like wth this anime had so much quality.
I am 26 years old and words cannot describe how much this scene broke me. I live in a family of 7 brothers and 3 sisters. I am the oldest. We lost our mother a year ago when she had a stroke that resulted from an abusive act by my stepfather who is now in prison, making me the sole guardian of 4 of our sibilings. We had to make a decision to take our mom off life support, and for that reason this scene will forever haunt me. Now, my youngest half brother has leukemia and when he told me to let him die if hes ever in that situation, the pain started all over again. It was difficult to hide it from him, but i can honestly say ive experienced what Nanachi went through here. My brother does feel as if he is a burden some of the time. Masterful storytelling
Nanachis Voiceacting in this was out of this world. You literally could feel that immeassurable pain and despair... like.. .seriously, as if the voice actor gone trough it itself wtf

I rarely cry to anime, but Mitty's fate is one of those that absolutely broke me
Anime of the year and one of my favorite anime of all time, i just loved Made in Abyss.
"When Mitty's gone.. Don't kill yourself"
God, please save us.
"Ok, maybe I can make it through this scene without crying"
The suffering these two young girls (Nanachi and Mitty) went trough is simply inconceivable... and it doesn't even end there, those who read the manga know that the story gets even darker.

It's amazing how many anime leave a lasting impact on their audience, Made in Abyss is one of many anime I fully believe would have been classics a decade ago. But with the huge proliferation of the genre nowadays it remains criminally underrated.
This scene broke me. I've seen some movies, animes, mmos. But losing Mitty was the most heart breaking thing I've ever seen. I'm a Father and I will always defend my child.
