    Hey, Amy! Sorry I'm late. One thing you can count in, though - I may be late, but I'll never miss a video!! 🩷
    The canning videos are my favorites! LOL I think I say that about every kind of video you do that can be categorized! But I do love the canning ones.
    Y'all have it down to a science - it's all hands on deck! Everybody husks or shucks together, then the production line sets up! It's beautiful to see how well everyone works together. Lamar looked like a pro over there, juggling two boiling pots, a cool sink, a cold tub and a draining sink. And the ice that makes those work! Impressive!
    Just as impressive was your work stripping all that corn and getting the milk. Your knife just flew through those huge mounds of corn! Then the huge, cold bowls of corn kernels came out of the fridge and Chloe and you bagged it all up, under Weston's supervision, and when it was all stacked, it was just amazing!
    BTW, THAT was some beautiful corn!! I was actually jealous of Jamison and Chloe eating their corn! Corn was always a favorite food of mine. Growing up in Indiana, corn was a big deal and something everyone talked about back then, even non-farmers. Now I eat keto so corn is verboten, but when I started keto years ago, I promised myself an ear of corn for Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day. I've been known to have two. 🤫 They're the highlight of my summer!
    I've never seen beans canned before. If you've showed it, I don't remember. It's interesting so see them go in in a little pike at the bottom of the hat and come out all plump and filling that jar!
    Please let us know how the pickled jalapeños turned out. And I can't wait for the rest of the kitchen makeover. You're off to such a great start!
    Enjoy the rest of your week, Amy!
    💛🌻💛🌽💛🌞💛🌽💛🌻💛

    This would be great. I put up more pickles myself, not as many as last year about half the pints. It was a cool spring then became very warm quickly 112 so nothing set. Anything that hot tends to make the vegies taste bitter because the plants are so stressed.

    Very cool! I've helped with corn before. Very sticky, but oh so worth it! I've done tomatoes, squash, peaches, apples, blueberries, grapes, pears... Jams and jellies. Chutneys too. Never done black beans or kidney beans... But you are the third person I have seen do them in a week. Thinking I may need to try! Glad everyone worked together on it. That's what makes canning fun!!
    Looking forward to seeing the rest of the kitchen redo.

    When I am canning green beans, if I don’t have enough to fill a canner, I just add some jars of black beans. It’s a good way to get some extra black beans canned!
    We did sweet corn last Saturday…147 pint!! I only kept 120 pt and let my mother in law have some and that will be enough for me for two years. The farmer plants some for us when he plants the corn and that happens every other year.
    I do have a question, why do you wash the ears of corn?

    • @PositivelyAmy
      @PositivelyAmy  Год назад +1

      That’s a great tip! We wash the corn to get any remaining silks removed and also to get any dirt removed. When you have little ones helping with the husking, there’s always some corn that gets dropped on the ground. 😉
