I had no idea that the corpse gets up when I first encountered this. I even let the corpse "sleep" in the original colonist's room for laughs. It went as well as you'd expect.
itd be cool if it replaced your colonist. like if you dont look at the two of them for a bit your colonist disappears and the unnatural corpse becomes the new colonist
Only thing you notice is that the corpse seems to have moved somewhere else in your colony, got all bloody- even swaps clothes with the original. Over time the other colonists realize it's fake, causing fights and claim that this person is an 'imposter'. No further explanation.
Yeah, and it’d be friendly of course, but would have negative mood buffs like the guy posting before me said, and their talent points are randomly swapped entirely around
I feel like that wouldn't really give you anything to do. Like I know we can try and use it as a story beat for roleplaying but if it just replaces it then it's kind of like no different from a body swap, that makes no difference. At least with the threat of death/ losing a pawn it makes it more sense as something dangerous. In your scenario though you could maybe do an invasion of the body snatchers scenario and have the pawn try to make others disappear and mentally they could have mood buffs/ traits that apply to the duplicates i.e "I got rid of the original!" +10 and/or they have the psychopath trait as well as the og's traits.
Psychic slaughter or a band of ghouls and gunners 'can' take it out. Untested the former, but miraculously succeeded with the latter. It almost crashed the game as well. It was unresponding for a short while.
From what I remember the thing has 30k reserve hp that it pulls from whenever it takes damage, plus the fact that it has a damage limiter means it can only suffer so much damage in a single attack and is immune to most one-shots. Of course, barely anything on the rim will survive an army's worth of minigun fire, but be glad you don't need to worry about ammo in vanilla.
I did try the psychic slaughter, and unfortunatedly its only a temporal solution. It kills the corpse, but it will respawn after some time to continue the hunt.
Unnatural corpse is fairly unnerving, I'll give it that. But honestly, it is mostly a "do I have pawns good enough to do research" check. Unless you are slacking off, it poses very little actual threat. Now... if you let it rise... well, unless you have a massive damage dealing potential, you can kiss your pawn goodbye.
The first time I saw the corpse I simply put it in my freezer, because I had already dismembered it before and it made the original fall, which happened the same day he woke up, I had the game paused and when I realized the corpse was walking towards the infirmary, and there was only the original stunned there, instantly I sent all the colonists there, and when he was focused on the original, I ordered one to carry him while he ran to the room through the barricade that the colonists were setting up, it took a while and I thought there was no salvation, but after a while I managed to eliminate him with the original and the colonist who was carrying few injuries, scared? Scared.
you can kill it.. it will only focus on the pawn... the best way is block the teleportation and use melle, if the wall breaks then is the end, nothing will stop it

There's 3 options for the DLC in a new game. The regular monolith run (so trying to get the anomaly ending), ambient horror (anomaly stuff shows up at random), or just disabling it completely.
I was very skeptical. Thought it was gonna be a royalty 2.0, but it's basically the old Call of Cthulu mod that's supported by the devs. Also, kane lives!!
i wonder if putting it in a containment unit thing would keep it from teleporting and killing your colonist so you can still study it? i've never encountered one though so i haven't been able to try it myself rip
So i am doing first anomaly run blind. When this thing appeared i didnt know its a copy but i knew it must be troube. Then my dog named stupid which i randomly started the game with (RIP Stupid) goes into the containment cell and EATS IT! The corpse then reappeared. Perfect copy? Remove pawns legs, butcher unnatural corpse, respawns without legs. Does the extreme regeneration repair its legs when it awakens?
