  • When it comes to sponsorships, there are some really good companies to work with, and some really bad ones. Luckily one of the good ones I found is EcoFlow. They have been great to work with and if anything, understate the quality and performance of their products. The River 2 models that I used in this video have been doing great for everything I’ve used them for, and you can get your own with a 10% discount through the following links!

Unfortunately the battery company was not so honest, and even after I made it very clear what I needed a battery for, they told me theirs was a great fit for the job and even set me up with an affiliate deal so that I could earn a percentage of the sales, in hopes that I would promote it in a video even though it was absolutely the WRONG fit for what I was doing. Then after no response from my questions of what was going on, they pointed out that we had a deal in writing for me to show their battery in a video, so that’s exactly what I did!
Oh, and fun fact, saying @MattsOffRoadRecovery in a video does get you more views 😂
In this video I also built a new mount for my risers and hitch attachment, cleaned up some shoddy concrete work, and then installed some @gripstuds in the new tires I picked up for my wife’s Jeep

I would like to point out that while one company grossly overstated their products capabilities, the EcoFlow unfit actually went well beyond what it was rated for without a problem. The River 2 Pro is rated for up to 1600 watts with the X-Boost turned on, yet it went well over 1800 watts when I started the grinder and powered it into the metal at the same time. That’s something I didn’t notice until I watched the video back, and goes along with times I’ve seen my EcoFlow Delta 2 go beyond what it is actually rated for as well

I have an EcoFlow River Max and it broke. That can happen and I contacted them since it was still under warranty. They sent me a label to return it for repair and I got it back fixed a week later. One of the things that separates companies is their after-sales service and EcoFlow was perfect 10/10 for service & support.
Yeah there are cheaper options, but good luck if it breaks. I don't know about you but I can't afford to have expensive equipment turn into paperweights, BTDT, it sucks.

The nails in front of the carport would make my blood boil. I work construction and it's not hard to be conscious of where the nails go. I had some siding redone a few years ago and came home to find over 30 white nails in my black paved driveway and made them drive 2 hours back to pick them all up

    • @bobvogel9916
      @bobvogel9916 2 года назад +10

Had the roof on the house redone. Picked up literally dozens of nails in the grass. Gave up trying and harassed them and they came and picked up most of them. You would think companies would want you to like them. I guess once the check clears they don't care.

    • @rjbrown6942

Every roof we do gets every nail that's not fastening a bord down gets pulled and put in my pouch we do this every job and run our roller magnets around the premises. It is alot of extra work. Those little white nails are not magnetic so those have to be picked up by hand. Mucho more fun but you won't last long in my area doing shady work.

Funny you mentioned that. Just yesterday, at 9:30 in the morning, I'm in line at the gas station/convenience store and the two guys in front of me, in their work uniforms (gutter installers) each have two of those big cans of twisted tea. They looked like they were going to, not coming from, a job. Now, they may not have been drinking them before doing the job but odds are they were getting their wobble on before the work got done.

Have you tried the Blackjack “t bone” truck tire plug kit. The tools are the heaviest duty I’ve seen, better than cheap plastic tools that I’ve had break while fighting a plug into a tire. I keep one in my toolbox and in every truck… worth a look for sure

I dislike the product videos myself. I get reached to constantly and I usually say no. I was once a jet ski tester for watercraft world magazine and there’s a lot that goes into good product testing. EcoFlow has reached out and they do seem pretty great, but I haven’t pulled the trigger with them because the quick turnaround needed. However, it’s good to hear you like yours… they seem like a good company. I did just agree to do one with a refrigerator company that my friend has already reviewed, but I was going to film something a bit different. They were cool with it, but I told them I needed it before November 6th as I was using it in my Liberty and my parent’s cabin. They said no problem, it’ll be there in 3 days and that was over a week ago. If it gets here today, I’ll still film it, but this first trial has just made me weary of doing it again.

Everything is negotiable. EcoFlow wanted a quick turn around with me too, and I simply told them no. I made it very clear that I will not do a review on a product until I’ve had it for at least a month, and they agreed to that. If you notice that with this particular EcoFlow product, this video came out a couple weeks after the launch day where everyone else’s video came out on it. That’s because I didn’t feel I had it long enough to thoroughly test yet, so I didn’t participate in their launch day, and they were just fine with that.
I’ve had many other companies who aren’t ok with that and said videos had to be put out immediately, and I simply tell them I’m not interested

    One more vote for EcoFlow!
I was a Jackery fanboy until my 2yr warranty ran out and just 3 months later my 1000 Explorer decided to just turn itself off and won't turn back on. It was fully charged when I plugged in my 37 qrt ARB fridge to ready for a camping trip. An hour later the unit had turned off and no amount of resets, attempted charging, etc.... it won't turn on.
I contacted Jackery to see if they could give any tips or tricks on getting it restarted. Nothing they suggested helped. I then asked if there is any kind of after warranty support in the way of a repair facility in the USA that I could ship it to and have it repaired (on my dime). Nope, and doesn't look like they plan to bother. So, now I am holding a very lightly used pretty $1000 brick.
A five year warranty would have probably sufficed at this point as newer technology would most likely be available by then and worth an upgrade regardless if my Jackery was still running or not. They just lost me as a return customer.
As a result, I contacted several other popular brands regarding warranties and after warranty product support. I was pleased to find that some have a much longer 5 yr warranty, or they at least offer after warranty repairs in the USA, in some cases they have both. One company clearly specified that if they can't help resolve a failed unit after their two year warranty expires, but they will issue a new unit for free and with free shipping as they are not in a position to have a repair facility set up in the USA. And they too have a solid 5 yr warranty.
In the end I chose to go with an EcoFlow Delta 2 to replace my Jackery 1000, as they provide both a 5 year warranty, as well as an after warranty repair facility in the USA. Their customer service has been top notch at responding very quickly and thoroughly to my questions. Oh and it has a functional app to control it with via WiFi or Bluetooth.

Casey I’m relatively new to your channel and I’ll admit to not watching every single episode. But one thing I really appreciate about you is your honesty, and this battery company’s claims are a prime example. They were just looking for some free exposure. We’ll they got it, and while it wasn’t the best for their business they pretty much had it coming.

The battery video is a great example...
There are only a few battery manufacturers in the world...
Most companies just slap a sticker on a battery and make ridiculous claims...

I made the mistake of getting a similar battery to the one you showed. Claimed it would be good for a UPS, but it did not have the rating to support full load of the UPS. It may be a great battery, with 3000 cycles, and no deep discharge issues, but don't lie to me about it!
Keep up the honest reviews, just like project farm does!

As you were grumbling about the nails scattered about, first thought was "Harbor Freight rolling magnet to the rescue", and you later proved me right. When I had my roof on my house done I borrowed my brother's to pick up the nails that the crew assured me they had cleaned up 100%. Yeah - about a coffee can later full of nails I was glad that I borrowed his (still haven't gotten my own yet). The roofing company rep came out when I called him about the nails and was, shall we say, less than enthused about the quantity of nails I picked up with the rolling magnet and made things right for me, then told me that they were going to go buy some for all of their crews to use after seeing my results with it. Regarding the battery - they were totally in the wrong since Lithium batteries can't take cold weather!!

Casey you get an A on your homework assignment. Must lithium batteries should never be charged below 0℉, it kills them. Some newer designed Lithium Batteries from your know where, have a Battery Management Systems (BMS) with low temperature lock out to prevent charging below 0℉. That specification detail should be on battery label, as you pointed out.
EV's have heaters and coolant to keep their batteries operating. The only way this battery would work in the Jeep is: If it was wrapped in a battery blanket with a thermally controlled battery heater wrapped around the battery, and given a permeant power source to protect the battery on those days and nights the Jeep sit's unused.
Seal Lead Acid Batteries are still the best option for below zero temperature operations.

I wear prescription glasses at all times when conscious and if I didn't, prolly be blind. That said, when I wore contacts and worked in a shop, I wore the safety glasses at all times. One piece of glass bead sent me to the emergency room for some precision eyeball scraping, felt like one of those concrete form nails you love so much. Just saying. You do you. Love all the content, you would look ridiculous with an eye patch.
