I would like to clarify that I did reach out to Auxbeam to give them the benefit of the doubt and ask if this was the actual kit that gets sent out to customers, or if it was a blemish, open box, or restock kit that they couldn't sell as new so they just sent to me instead. They assured me that this is the exact kit that any customer would get of they buy one. On top of that, the under hood control box for the lights fell apart during install and I had to electrical tape the housing together so that it would work. But I will say that I've used their switch pods for many years and have had nothing but good experience with them. So far that holds true for this current one as well. The switch pod kit and the rock light kit are two VERY different quality of products.
All their stuff comes from a cheap china wholesaler. Their switch pods are good, and you can even find them being sold with other brand names, as they all come from the same china factory for less. I'd assume these rock lights are just the cheapest they could find. I'll use their switch pods, nothing else.

You are a real stand up guy, Casey. From your experience with the light set, you gave unvarnished truth about them. Apparently Auxbeam has chosen the way of cheapening the product and then saying it is great, all in the name of profits. One other thing that is good is that you are thinking of Carinna's and Riley's comfort when wheeling with you and that is wonderful. The videos of you and them out having fun are great. Good work.
I really appreciate you for being honest to everyone and not giving us a false opinion just because it's sponsored! Can't wait to see the harbor freight lights on this jeep and see what some real rock lights will look like on it!
I think you got more of a show style light than a functional rock light (hence the cool colors). I wouldn’t be suprised if that companies main market was mall crawlers.
Videos like this are very telling. This lets us know that he’s being honest about his feelings on the products he gets “regardless if they were sponsored or not”!?🙏👍🏻
I was sponsored for years by camera manufacturers, film companies and other camera equipment companies as well as retail stores. I had no problem with that. Then years ago I was told I "had to tell people that they needed to buy new gear" at all my classes / workshops. Even if they didn't need something new I had to tell them. I am no longer sponsored. The reason the lights have all the different settings is that they are selling to 16, 17, 18 year old boys that want flash but no substance. I know - my 19 year old bought all those things for his car. He took them back thankfully after people told him he was wasting his money on something he would never use.
The reason they have all the settings is that the controller is just an off the shelf component used for tons of RGB lighting stuff! This "kit" seems to have been an attempt to cash in on people wanting rock lights by grabbing some cheap components and screws and throwing them in a bag.
Hey Casey, nice TJ. Food for thought, consider installing a "hot heads" roof insulation kit when you get your hard top. I installed one on my TJ and it was a HUGE improvement. It helps in winter/summer with both temp and also noise. Much easier to install prior to putting the top on. Good luck

Regarding those steps: could always make something that can be removed (round tube mount where the step slides in and has a couple beefy pins that hold it in) so that you can pull out if you need the clearance while wheeling.

As has been said by many on your channel already...good job, much respect and thank you for being honest and not just taking some money because you could...you rock.
This is another reason I watch video's you put out, you are 100% real and truthful. You don't blow smoke up anyone's ass and let them know how you really feel. If I am the person who contacted, you or sent you the "kit" I would take it and run with it to make a major improvement in some way, to start with I would look for a made in America supplier. Thank you for being as honest as you are sir!
I hope Harbor Freight sponsors you and some of the other You Tube channels that use them. Thank you for your honesty. I know there are probably RUclipsrs out there that don't like the products that sponsors them but they aren't big enough to say anything. At the end of the day you have to be able to face yourself in the mirror, you should be proud of what you see. I'm happy for you with your new jeep. I'm looking forward to the great videos you will be making with it. Thanks also for being a good neighbor, gosh there needs to be more like you. Stay safe and GOD bless
I think harbor freight has more money being allocated for more niche markets like off roading so I think they'll start to fund more for advertisment and pages like this, would love to see harbor freight come out in better light because they've always been such a great company for people on a budget.
These seem more like show lights you see on rice burners at a car show. When I bought lights for my truck, I really thought about auxbeams, but from the reviews, they didn't seem like they were god's gift to men by any means. So I took a chance on some random lights on Amazon and to my surprise, for an entire set of amber and white off road lights, I had less than $400 invested and I couldn't be happier. I thought about Harbor freight lights, but I wanted mainly amber lights and they didn't have those. So far I've had these lights for over 2 months in numerous rain storms and they bounce and shake to high heaven because, well these are mounted on a deuce and a half and it's a rough ride to say the least. For switches I went with MGI and they seem to be of good quality so far. I'll say, ai appreciate the honesty and integrity. That's not so common anymore as many are all about the money and/or free stuff. I could care less what people get for free as sponsorships ect, but give us a straight answer and that my friend, you did indeed.
I used to have mixed feelings about Harbour Freight products...but I'm seeing alot of positive feedback from other Off Road Rescue RUclips videos about how great Harbour Freight is..ty Casey once again!
You and Grumpy taking over the road maintenance is how I found your channel. Glad to see he is doing well. Thanks for an honest review. Maybe they will improve the light kit, as you said it doesn’t match the quality of their switch panels. I agree that the front axle from a JK with trusses holds up well to bigger tires as the main issue is the tubes. However we have all seen you drive the Willys and well enough said.
Casey, thank you for your honesty and integrity with your experience with the rock lights. I have a 2021 JL Unlimited Rubicon and use KC Hilites on my Jeep, including the rock lights. I have had awesome customer service from KC. Their off road lights and rock lights all work great too.
Quick note on KC lights. I have a old style off-road lights. Somehow I broke the housing for the light. They sent me the exact housing I needed for the price of shipping. If I upgrade my lighting, I’ll probably get KC’s.
The fact that you won’t mince your words or compromise your values makes your opinions on a product even more reliable!! Thank you!!! As said the switch module 👍🏻👍🏻. The rock lights are nothing more than underbody lights for a rice burner! No use for 4x4!
Casey you are the absolute best! A man of honest integrity! I wish there were more men like you in the world because it would definitely be a better place!
I run mine like that. 37" on stock axels just upgraded gears and air lockers on a jku. had it like that for since 2015 when it was new. I do go out and wheel it's not a mall crawler, and I have never broke
Companies need to understand that if they provide a RUclipsr a product to do a use video of then they had better send a quality product. Seems they likely have different vendors supplying different bits. Enjoyed this and your videos are spot on Casey. As always thank you for the honest sharing of information. Peace Out.
Casey, your candor on the review is much appreciated. I can't imagine auxbeam not taking to heart your critique. It seems you are well qualified to review the gear. I imagine they would want to ensure their quality is consistent across the board, especially given how solid the controller is. Either way, I appreciate the video and your insight.👍
"Like a good neighbor, Casey is there". Nice job helping Grumpy. It's a shame when you have to "reverse engineer" a kit that is lacking. The company should have made that error right, free or not.
the TJ-6 is sure a beast Casey! What a great rig. Guess I know what I will upgrade my Smittybilt winch to eventually ;-) Had a similar rocklight installed, worked great and now I can't change any colors from the phone whatsoever. Guess going to single white lights via Harbor Freight and get actually good lighting is more important than flashing colors. So great to see Grumpy again.
Good on you for calling it like it is. I think sometimes these manufacturers get lazy and greedy. Thinking with their good name they can pawn off crap on unsuspecting customers. Ran into it with Jet woodworking tools. Usually high quality machines but their combo planer/jointer was worse than junk.
This video perfectly highlights why I like your content. You don’t treat your audience like a bunch of dummies. Thanks for showing me some cool stuff and sharing your thoughts on whatever happens to be going on. Also Grumpy is awesome.
My 'Good Neighbor" mowed my yard all summer long in 2008 while I spent the summer in hospital, extended care and a hospital bed at home. Good neighbors are hard to beat! If all your lawn mowing is in terrain similar to Grumpy's, I'm gonna guess your blades need replaced a little more often than mine do 😎 I have nearly the exact same Craftsman mower as yours 👍👍, and used the original blades for 4 years. The mower was ten years old when I got it, but had almost no hours on it by the original owner.
Love the look of the TJ 6. Those Chinese rock lights might be good for those kids that like their cars slammed to the ground and sit on parking lots talking about their cars. Can't wait to see more on the TJ. Great review Casey nice to have honest reviews. 👍👍🇨🇦
I like your "new" Jeep, although I will miss the tracked Jeep. I appreciate that that had issues, but it was really cool. As for the side-steps, I just wanted to suggest two options: the simple one is a piece of rectangular tubing mounted on teo short pieces of steel cable held in crimped tubes. I have used steps like these (they were fitted to some South African military vehicles) and they work really well, steady enough te step on but flexible enough not to get damaged off-road. The more complicated one is a spring-loaded folding step. If you want I can send you my drawings and you can have them made up locally?
In the FWIW category, I have a 2021 Wrangler Rubicon. I added DR 38 rock slider side steps with rock lights integrally inset/installed. They tuck up against the body so I don’t lose ground clearance. They fit great, easy installation. The lights are plenty bright, and I have them wired into the courtesy lights so they come on when the door is opened or I can turn them on by using the interior lights. The steps make it much easier to get in and out Great videos. The camera work and the overall quality is great especially considering that you’re outdoors in an uncontrolled environment. Thanks for the good work
Great to have good neighbors. Now that I’m retired I’m the lawnmower rescue neighbor. When my neighbors grass gets out of control I get after it with my 28 horsepower 46 inch cut dual bag baby. Ar Ar. I’ve cut 6 different neighbors grass.
Every video with a pup in it is a better video - he / she was just helping out! Regarding the Sponsorship - stay true to yourself and your guidance will never be questioned!!! Thank you for another great video!
I love the new to you Jeep. Thank you for your honesty about the lights. I’m glad we got to see grumpy again. I love your channel. Thanks for all the videos.
Seen only a few of your videos. Became aware due to your collaboration with another RUclips channel. Really liked the video where you did the clean up adjacent to the cliff. Appreciate your taking the lead when picking up other's trash. We all need to do our part with this. But I like your honesty regarding the quality of a product. There is another RUclips channel I would like to follow but they are more interested in sponsorship so I don't follow them. Keep up the good work, thanks for sharing.
I run the Cooper SST in 35"x15 and I love them. Snow, mud, ice, rocks Went to Rubicon and Fordyce 2 years ago. Run them from 4 psi for snow crawling or 10 psi for rocks. My TJ likes 27 psi for streets. I would recommend Chrome Molly shafts for that Dana 30 in the front. Mine has had chromoly for 10 plus years now no issues.
Oh and I love the tailgate. I’ve not seen that on a TJ, but I loved my CJ-7’s tailgate. Ok, just finished the video. Do the harbor freight lights you mentioned have colors? Haha flashing helps you see the rocks at night, not. LOL. (Yes I grew up in the 80’s, get over it. LOL) MUCH respect Sir, thank you for being honest and generally being a cool guy.
When I lived in the NW I ran with the Timber Tamers. We had several people who used a light duty chain and saddle stirrups to help the shorter people get in. They were mounted to the seat and could be pulled out to use the stowed to keep out of the way.
Casey, to echo others, I really appreciate your honesty. And your pinned comment answered my only question. Now I'm going to look at the HF lights you mentioned as I'm in the market. I also never understood why my rock lights need to be pink and/or dance to my music. It's a light, it should help me see. Otherwise market it as an "accent light kit" keep up the great work
To keep all clearance attach step with spring loaded bolts. That way it sucks up when not used, but, extends down when stepped on. Super strong spring not needed, just one that holds twice weight of step, with 2 per step that is plenty to keep it up over rough roads/trails. Step drop of 3" is needed for boots to fit. Mount a little HDPE before & after step to keep it from getting hung up on rocks. Hope this helps.
The biggest reason I continually watch your channel & will stay a faithful Subscriber is purely because you haven't fallen for the sponsorship crap! You always tell it like it is & if Auxbeam (I am also an Auxbeam client) can't produce a quality product the stiff cheese!! They need to hear the good, the bad & the ugly & work to improve...period. Great video & even better reveal Brother! Stay safe.
Well done. It would seem they have a different manufacturer for the rock light kit or their source for the kits changed their supplier. Regardless, QC obviously isn't happening and they seem to be simply passing this on to their customers. We might see a lot more of this in the 2020s.
Like your video and like your new Jeep that's new to you You are right we do miss grumpy he needs to get his knee need healed real soon and back in the Jeep with you for recoveries
Casey I have a lot of respect for you and I agree Auxbeam I would never use at all. I can't believe they wanted you to promote it. You don't promote anything you don't believe in. Thank you for showing us the jeep. Keep up the great work
Love the Jeep knowledge . . . nice to know the engineering of vehicles, I never really was aware of the importance of arrival and departure angles. Great video, cheers.
You can always tell when someone on RUclips is reading a scripted ad spot and its so disingenuous, and I appreciate the honesty and am so looking forward to seeing this thing on the trails!
I put McTuning on my rig. I don't know how they rank compared to others but, I'm happy with the product and the company. The one complaint I have is that one of the cables coming out of the control unit is not sealed as well as the other; nothing a little silicone won't fix. And, they're bright. Very bright.
Even as a dealer for Auxbeam I agree that some things could be better. I was involved in an accident in our Wrecker going 50 mph. Woman pulled out infront of me and I hit her. The Auxbeam Light Bar I had on the front bumper took a direct hit. Still worked perfectly. To me the Rock Light's LEDs are just not big enough for what people are looking for. Seems like they are more for decoration than practical use. There is a reason that they are inexpensive. Just have to pick and chose on what you buy. ( I know you didn't buy them ) Good video as always. Love the honesty.
I have nothing but great experience with their switch panels. Everything from the quality and reliability of the product, to the professional looking box and clear directions that they come with. But this rock light "kit" is an absolute joke. I literally grabbed the whole bundle and threw it in the garbage at one point, but then my stubbornness kicked in and I was determined to make it work. But I should have just left it in the garbage where it belongs
For the familytime, can you add a "flipout" or "foldout" step for them to use that you can "unfold" when you dont need it.. so you still have clearance? :)
Absolutely not. This is a daily driver that my wife and daughter will be getting in and out of regularly. It needs a permanent, solid, and large step. Yes it's a Jeep, but let's be real, how often is it going to be in a situation where a rock is right up there that close to the body??? Maybe once or twice a year. Notice how it's been wheeled for years how it is and there's not a single scratch on the sliders...
@@CaseyLaDelle sorry Casey didn't realize it was a daily thought it was just for the trails like I said was just an idea but now that I know it's not just for off road swing style steps aren't really meant for the street have a great rest of your week

Any way; I think Casey answered out of pure safety for his family first and how many bad things he pictured with a chain step happening to his wife and daughter or others or himself...... I think the thought spiked his blood pressure with pure fear. Idk.
Well , what do they expect you to say , " these things work excellent , you should get some " ? If it's junk , they need to be ready to accept the truth about the items and make them better . Honesty is the best medicine . Thanks Casey
Very nice jeep! Look forward to seeing the hardtop and mods you do to it. That's crazy you'd think they'd go out of their way to make sure what they send you is phenomenal. Proper wiring lengths good bright lights and overall a top notch product in above average shipping material. That box looked like it went through an asphalt roller before being delivered to you. And would some high quality self tapping screws break the bank for the company? Well they didn't do theirselves any favors just willy nilly throwing crap in a crushed box and shipping it to you, now did they? 100k people are going to steer clear of them. Well done!
We see this all the time in the retail world. A good product is changed by the new company comptroller to build it for less money and increase profits. It's a very common practice. It works for a while, then people realize their favorite product is now landfill fodder. The product is discontinued, never to return to it;s former glory. The other way that happens is the company gets sold, new buyer takes the, we need better margins approach, crap products ensue. Thanks for the heads up.
Well said Casey I like the way you say it as it is, you have always sruck me as a man with integrity. 🙂👍 It sad that Auxbeam have let you down after all these years, companies are only as good as their last product.
Working in the bush i have seen the bottom steps of skidders made out of 2 lengths of chain connected to a step. That allows it to bounce off stuff without compromising clearance.

Got yourself another subscriber! Honesty and integrity at it’s best, really makes you think what other folks wouldn’t do what he did.
Great video Casey. Your integrity is awesome and I admire that so much.
I love the honesty! Too many others will pimp the product for the kickback but you sir have some respectable integrity! Thank you!
Awesome!! Your honesty is greatly appreciated.
the TJ-6 is sure a beast Casey!
Casey, I appreciate your honesty and feel you’ll shoot straight and won’t recommend junk to us. Great character you have.
Thank you for your service sergeant
Love the honesty and the fact you took time to stop and help Grumpy!
Again, I sure appreciate you!! Thanks for being the friend you are to Grumpy and being honest.
Thank you for being honest about Products
I think that you giving your honest opinion is amazing.
The steps make it much easier to get in and out
Great videos. The camera work and the overall quality is great especially considering that you’re outdoors in an uncontrolled environment. Thanks for the good work
Glad to see Grumpy back and well. Hopefully you guys can do some more exploring videos together. Thanks for the good entertainment
Great to have good neighbors. Now that I’m retired I’m the lawnmower rescue neighbor. When my neighbors grass gets out of control I get after it with my 28 horsepower 46 inch cut dual bag baby. Ar Ar. I’ve cut 6 different neighbors grass.
Those so called “rock lights” are under glows at best. Your honest appraisal is refreshing and appreciated.
thanks for your honesty, most would just support it because they will make money off of it.
Every video with a pup in it is a better video - he / she was just helping out! Regarding the Sponsorship - stay true to yourself and your guidance will never be questioned!!! Thank you for another great video!
I love these kinds of videos. Too many channels blow smoke up the viewers arse simply to keep their sponsors happy, even when the product is flawed.
I subscribed because of the honesty and integrity.
Never had any aux beam light last for me love Ur honesty
LOL)
MUCH respect Sir, thank you for being honest and generally being a cool guy.
Thanks for your honesty. Not a quality you find in many people these days. Loving the TJ-6! Sick!
When I lived in the NW I ran with the Timber Tamers. We had several people who used a light duty chain and saddle stirrups to help the shorter people get in. They were mounted to the seat and could be pulled out to use the stowed to keep out of the way.
Zero chance of me ever putting anything like that on my Jeep
thanks for not being a sell out! means a lot these days
Casey, thank you for the honest opinion, too often you see people pushing merch just because they were sponsored.
Casey I have a lot of respect for you and I agree Auxbeam I would never use at all. I can't believe they wanted you to promote it. You don't promote anything you don't believe in. Thank you for showing us the jeep. Keep up the great work
Very nice rig. Helping your neighbor is a wonderful thing. I really enjoy your channel and I learn a lot watching. Thank you.
Thanks for your honest opinion on the light kit Casey.
I put McTuning on my rig. I don't know how they rank compared to others but, I'm happy with the product and the company.
The one complaint I have is that one of the cables coming out of the control unit is not sealed as well as the other; nothing a little silicone won't fix.
And, they're bright. Very bright.
Nice to see Grumpy again- thanks for the honesty for sure Casey. Can't wait for the next expose!!
You could also add a step supported by chains similar to trail mater's.
heavy cable work
Those coopers are pretty good tires, I've been running the 37's for years and have never had a flat, I spend alot of time in the woods (snow as well)
hi Casey to keep from losing any of your ground clearance on the TJ6 you can use chain to hang your step off of anyway just an idea for you
Absolutely not.
@@jimrichards4362 I like thinking of possible 'ways and means' to help so.eone or something. And it's cool to see someone else think way outside the box. I didn't realize it was daily either; Cash has soooo many vehicles lol. I wouldn't do an chain; only because no matter what I'd do I'd always be kinking the chains or getting my foot swung out from under me or some shit hahaha.
Any way; I think Casey answered out of pure safety for his family first and how many bad things he pictured with a chain step happening to his wife and daughter or others or himself...... I think the thought spiked his blood pressure with pure fear. Idk.
The moon 🌒 in the background even shines through the clouds. Thanks 👍 for the honesty
Yep, the moon is brighter than the lights!
Well , what do they expect you to say , " these things work excellent , you should get some " ? If it's junk , they need to be ready to accept the truth about the items and make them better . Honesty is the best medicine . Thanks Casey
That wholesome neighbor moment was great
Very nice jeep!
Respect your honesty
You are an honest man that’s why I’m here n appreciate you 👍🏾👍🏾 thanks for sharing.
Well said Casey I like the way you say it as it is, you have always sruck me as a man with integrity. 🙂👍
It sad that Auxbeam have let you down after all these years, companies are only as good as their last product.
Very beautiful disco light if you want to make a party. Thank you for sharing your story. God bless you and your family.
Working in the bush i have seen the bottom steps of skidders made out of 2 lengths of chain connected to a step. That allows it to bounce off stuff without compromising clearance.
