Honestly.... people born between 94-02 had a pretty good childhood, we still played outside but it was when internet was just starting to take off. Everyone in gaming lobbies had a mic and the lobbies were hectic, between the ages of 10-16 I played outside and did stupid shit with friends then too it off with staying up all night playing Xbox with friends

As a kid I never really liked HAL's part in this one, but having grown up around copious amounts of computers and the internet, it's frankly chilling how well written and strangely prescient it ended up being. The line about being in our laps and pockets evokes the all seeing eyes of platform algorithms, and supercomputers do in fact run Linux for the most part. This plus all the little references easily makes this my favorite ERB.
Used to think it represented Apple continuing on as a competitor despite job's death. But truly I can see it being the interconnected apparatus of online corporations guiding the world now
I used to genuinely hate Hal's parts too until very recently. With how fast AI is moving it made me realize that Hal isn't that far away and that even geniuses like steve jobs and bill gates are insignificant compared to what they've built.
It's supposed to be Linux, it's just a joke that it is being portrait as HAL. Since Linux doesn't really have a prominent leader figure like Apple and Windows has. The joke is that they are fighting about which system is better, but Linux is far superior than both. It's not really about Ai though even though it fits the narrative.

@bobo The OS part literally comes down to preference. With Android you can install 3rd party apps easily and you can download music and other shit easily, that's why I personally like Android better but I can see how people who like to keep things simple would like iOS. Also the longevity part is not true at all iPhones are known for having shitty battery life. But hey, if you can afford a luxury brand go ahead no one's gonna stop you.

I was just rewatching this after not having listened to ERB in over four years. Even though these rap battles are satirical and educational, the way Bill Gates kinda vent-raps about Steve Jobs dying and how he was his friend is really touching.

rannick10 I use PC mostly for gaming and doing my homework. In my honest opinion, the mac feels slippery, as in it just feels awkward to use. Especially the mouse and the keyboard its self. Also you can modify a PC to your own comfort. That is why I like the PC better but you are entitled to your opinion. :)
